And yet, dear brethren, it seems not out of order, that one of those whose privilege it was to receive the delightful Christian hospitality of our own people in Scotland, and to give them greeting in your name, should bring back words of love from them to you. It was my good fortune, on invitation of the Bishops of Aberdeen, Edin burgh, and Glasgow, to be permitted, on more than one occasion, to address congregations of the Scottish Church; to speak to them of our gratitude for the past and our hopes for the future. Now, at home again, I ought, perhaps, to be glad of the opportunity to tell you, though at very short notice, some thing about the sister communion to which we owe the first gift of the Apostolic Succession.
