  • Pages : 109 pages

Download or read book War Scythe written by Fouad Sabry and published by One Billion Knowledgeable. This book was released on 2024-06-24 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is War Scythe There is a type of polearm known as a war scythe or military scythe. This type of polearm has a single-edged blade that curves inward and has the cutting edge on the concave side of the blade. The war scythe is a purpose-built infantry combat weapon that retains a superficial resemblance to the blade of an agricultural scythe, from which it is assumed to have evolved. However, the war scythe is completely unconnected to agricultural tools and is a weapon that was designed specifically for use by soldiers. In addition to having flats that are proportioned in a regular manner, the blade of a war scythe has a thickness that is comparable to that of a spear or sword blade, and it has a tiny curve along its edge as it narrows toward its point. There is a distinction between this and farming scythes, which have blades that are extremely thin and unevenly bent. These blades are designed specifically for cutting grass and wheat, and thus are not appropriate for use as blades for improvised spears or polearms. How you will benefit (I) Insights, and validations about the following topics: Chapter 1: War Scythe Chapter 2: Polearm Chapter 3: Halberd Chapter 4: Sabre Chapter 5: Dao (Chinese sword) Chapter 6: Scythe Chapter 7: Bill (weapon) Chapter 8: Sickle Chapter 9: Glaive Chapter 10: Kopis (II) Answering the public top questions about war scythe. Who this book is for Professionals, undergraduate and graduate students, enthusiasts, hobbyists, and those who want to go beyond basic knowledge or information for any kind of War Scythe.

Book The Scythe Book

Download or read book The Scythe Book written by David Tresemer and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-05-01 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the gardener, farmer, or homeowner, a good scythe is an efficient and enjoyable tool for cutting grasses and weeds and harvesting small grains. Author David Tresemer presents the results of years of research and practical experience so that the reader may learn to use and enjoy the scythe. In an age when most wonder how they can accomplish anything without the aid of electricity or gasoline, The Scythe Book shows how a traditional hand tool can often outperform more modern technology. This new edition includes an addendum on the practical use of the scythe by Peter Vido. Beginning with his recollections from boyhood in Slovakia, Vido shares what he has learned from European mowers and scythe-makers during trips to countries where scythes are still routinely used. He also provides detailed guidance on fitting the scythe (blade and snath) to the individual, care and repair of the blade, principles of movement, and much fascinating lore.

A work of reflective philosophy, Amplifications sits at the intersection of history, creative practice, and sound studies, recounting this narrative through a series of themes (rattles, echoes, recordings, etc.). Carter offers a unique perspective on migratory poetics, bringing together his own compositions and life's works while using his personal narrative to frame larger theoretical questions about sound and migration.

Book The Columbia Granger s Index to Poetry in Anthologies

Download or read book The Columbia Granger s Index to Poetry in Anthologies written by Tessa Kale and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 2426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For over a hundred years, The Columbia Granger's Index to Poetry in Anthologies has been the preeminent index for answers to questions about the world of poetry, identifying the author of a poem or the anthologies in which it can be found when only a title, first line, or last line is known. This latest edition-a "must have" for libraries-brings its index up to date as of May 31, 2006. This latest version features 85,000 classic and contemporary poems by 12,000 poets. Also included are works in translation and for the first time poetry in Spanish, Vietnamese, and French. The subject organization of the poems is especially useful. Hundreds of new subjects have been added, indexing poems on highly relevant topics such as Osama bin Laden, the war in Iraq, Dick Cheney, the Internet, and Rosa Parks, as well as timeless subjects like the Bill of Rights, unspoken love, faith, and inspiration. Our impressive team of consultants includes J. D. McClatchy, Harvey Shapiro, and former poet laureate Mark Strand. From The Norton Anthology of Poetry (2005 edition) to Poetry after 9/11 and Garrison Keillor's Good Poems, this new edition puts readers in touch with the best of the latest anthologies and the lasting favorites.
