Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of Smeaton on the Holy Spirit Dr. Macleod declares to be “invaluable within its own range,” and adds of him that “next to Principal William Cunningham he stood as our foremost student of the history of Reformed theology.” Smeaton had a thorough grasp of the historical development of the great Christian doctrines, such as the doctrine of the Atonement and the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. In this field, as Dr. Macleod informs us, he did “very fine work indeed.”—From the Foreword.

Book A Biblical Theology of the Holy Spirit

Download or read book A Biblical Theology of the Holy Spirit written by Ida Mitchell and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2006-08 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theology is a widely used term. Therefore, it is necessary to identify more closely the sense in which is it being used in this document. Biblical Theology in this document is based upon and faithful to the teachings of the Bible. A Biblical Theology of the Holy Spirit is a study of the Spirit of God throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. Theology is derived from two Greek works, theos and logos, theos meaning (God) and logos meaning (speech) and (doctrine). The doctrine covered in this document is not exhaustive, but with hope will bring honor and glory to God the Father and to his Son Jesus Christ. This doctrine of the Holy Spirit is also being written on the premise that it will appeal to common readers and lay persons, as well as seminarians and theology students. This is an attempt to explore the scriptures, give more knowledge and broaden the understanding of all individuals concerned and obtained accurate and infallible information concerning who the Spirit of God is and the functions of the Holy Spirit.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relationship between the Father and the Son has been one of, if not, the most difficult principle for me to satisfactorily understand. I take a little, but not much, comfort in knowing that many scholars have the same problem as I do, which is evident by their vastly different theories and explanations. This fact should not deter any of us, who love the truth, from studying this beautiful and fascinating topic. The title of this writing was found in the Bible, in Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, chapter 8, verse 6 where he says, "there is One God, the Father". Is it possible that Paul is simply stating that the One God, Who is referred to, so many times in scripture, is the Father? If so, that opens the door to a host of questions, primarily about Who Jesus Christ is. In this study, as always, we depend on the inspired sacred scriptures to find the answers. My prayer for you the reader, is that you willing and able to set aside your pre-conceived ideas, especially those based on man's doctrines, and ask the holy spirit to open the eyes of your heart to allow a fresh "spiritual" revelation to enter, one that will return you to your First Love, Who is, none other than, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The intimacy, unity, and growth in the Kingdom are promoted by our lives in God, the Holy Spirit. He is active in our prayer life, decision making process, spiritual warfare, maturity and clarity in biblical principles, just to name a few. God the Holy Spirit will help us discover the promised release of fire to keep us motivated to live towards our eternal destiny. God the Holy Spirit will add the ammunition to recognize the fact that the Holy Spirit is the most neglected and unappreciated third person of the Trinity. Christianity will be a more desirable spiritual lifestyle as all people become obedient to His purpose, value, and His influences in the kingdom.

Book Engaging the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit

Download or read book Engaging the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit written by Matthew Levering and published by Baker Academic. This book was released on 2016-07-19 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Distinguished Theologian on the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit Distinguished theologian Matthew Levering offers a historical examination of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, defending an Augustinian model against various contemporary theological views. A companion piece to Levering's Engaging the Doctrine of Revelation, this work critically engages contemporary and classical doctrines of the Holy Spirit in dialogue with Orthodox and Reformed interlocutors. Levering makes a strong dogmatic case for conceiving of the Holy Spirit as love between Father and Son, given to the people of God as a gift.
