In some the voice was almost entirely lost, and would continue very weak and low for several weeks after recovery. A constant fever attended this disease, but it was much more remarkable in the night than in the day time and in some there was a remarkable remission towards morning. Fresh, very virulent pus was obtained from a child a few weeks old, suffering from purulent Ophthalmia. One drop was placed under each upper lid, the eyes closed with a light bandage. A violent inflammation set in within twenty-four hours, accompanied with extreme chemosis, great oedema of the lids, purulent secretion very pro fuse. Constitutional disturbance not very great, and with the exception of the great tention of the lids, he did not suffer much pain. Opiates were not required, nor were any applications made to the eyes.
