Book The Rubber Industry in the Territories of Manica and Sofala Classic Reprint

This book was released on 2017-10-13 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Rubber Industry in the Territories of Manica and Sofala The system, which at one time Obtained, Of cutting up the vines into short pieces for the purpose of extracting the latex is now quite abolished. That which is now generally employed consists in cutting Off slices of bark from the mature stems. Providing these incisions be not made unnecessarily long or deep, nor too close together, this system of tapping cannot be considered drastic, and is certainly far less injurious than many methods in vogue in other parts Of Africa. As the majority Of the laticiferous vessels traverse the bark of Landolphia Kirkii in a longitudinal direction, a transverse incision Obviously taps more vessels than a longitudinal one of the same length. Measures are, therefore, being taken with a view of introducing a system of tapping by means Of transverse incisions in order to reduce to a minimum any injury caused to vines by the excision Of bark. Book Plantation Rubber and the Testing of Rubber

Download or read book Plantation Rubber and the Testing of Rubber written by G. Stafford Whitby and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-19 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Plantation Rubber and the Testing of Rubber: With Plates and Diagrams The extent to which the rubber industry has expanded during the present decade may be gathered from the fact that the world's production of raw rubber in 1917 (the last normal year) was 3-64 times as large as in 1910. This increased production is entirely accounted for by an increase in the production of plantation rubber, which grew in amount from a quantity form ing in 1910 116 to a quantity forming in 1917 79-5 per cent. Of the total production. The increased production of raw rubber has been absorbed chiefly by the rubber manufacturing industry in the United States, which consumed times as much raw rubber in 1917 as in 1910. The following table shows the salient statistics regarding the volume of raw rubber production from a time when plantation rubber began to be produced in noticeable quantities. The above statistics are represented graphically in Fig. I, at the back of the volume. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book India Rubber World Classic Reprint

Download or read book India Rubber World Classic Reprint written by and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-14 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from India Rubber World In the rubber manufacture, it is true, most lines now important in the trade had an existence, but seventeen years have witnessed steady progress in the way of im proved methods and improved products. But the rubber tire scarcely existed; the automobile tire now standard the world over had not been thought of; even the pneu matic bicycle tire was in embryo when the india rub ber world first appeared. This has been an era of industrial combinations and concentration, and here, too, the rubber industry has kept pace with general progress. There was hardly a rubber manufacturing concern seventeen years ago with a capital stated as high as while now there must be scores of them, not to mention such aggrega tions of capital in the business as that of the United States Rubber Co. The manufacture of rubber goods has been carried into a number of countries where before it had no foot ing - as in Japan, Australia, Switzerland, and Portugal. And the use of rubber goods has become general in many regions where they were scarcely known before. Special mention must be made of the development of the rubber manufacture in Germany, and of the export of rubber goods from that country - facts which figure among the notable in the history of the industry in any country.
