Book Structure of Molecules and Internal Rotation

Download or read book Structure of Molecules and Internal Rotation written by San-Ichiro Mizushima and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structure of Molecules and Internal Rotation focuses on the processes, methodologies, and reactions involved in internal rotation. The manuscript first offers information on studies on dihalogenoethanes, as well as the spectroscopic and thermal measurements of ethane and its derivatives. Discussions focus on the dielectric constant of halogenoethanes, electron diffraction, Raman effect in ethane derivatives, and entropy difference between rotational isomers. The text also ponders on internal rotation in simple molecules and paraffinic hydrocarbons. The publication examines polypeptides and related compounds and the principles and experimental methods of structure determination. Topics include Raman effect, infrared absorption, molecules with two peptide bonds, and the configuration of a polypeptide chain. The manuscript is a valuable source of data for chemists and readers interested in the structure of molecules and internal rotation.

Book The Chemistry of Rotational Isomers

Download or read book The Chemistry of Rotational Isomers written by Michinori Oki and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rotation about the Carbon-Carbon single bond is generally regarded to be unrestricted. About 50 years ago, rotational isomers were found to exhibit optical activity: substituted biphenyl derivatives. However, the author has investigated other classes of compounds that have stable rotational isomers at room temperature. These compounds can serve as models for studying very weak intermolecular interactions, that are difficult to observe. Even diastereotopic groups show different chemical reactivity. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, there has been a major expansion of high pressure research providing unique information about systems of interest to a wide range of scientific disciplines. Since nuclear magnetic resonance has been applied to a wide spec trum of problems in chemistry, physics and biochemistry, it is not surprising to find that high pressure NMR techniques have also had many applications in these fields of science. Clearly, the high information content of NMR experiments combined with high pressure provides a powerful tool in modern chem istry. It is the aim of this monograph, in the series on NMR Basic Principles and Progress, to illustrate the wide range of prob lems which can be successfully studied by high pressure NMR. Indeed, the various contributions in this volume discuss studies of interest to physics, chemical physics, biochemistry, and chemical reaction kinetics. In many different ways, this monograph demonstrates the power of modern experimental and theoretical techniques to investigate very complex systems. The first contribution, by D. Brinkman, deals with NMR and NQR studies of superionic conductors and high-Tc supercon ductors at high pressure. Pressure effects on phase transitions, detection of new phases, and pressure effects on diffusion and spin-lattice relaxation, represent a few of the topics discussed in this contribution of particular interest to solid state physics.

Book March s Advanced Organic Chemistry

Download or read book March s Advanced Organic Chemistry written by Michael B. Smith and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-11-25 with total page 4667 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The completely revised and updated, definitive resource for students and professionals in organic chemistry The revised and updated 8th edition of March's Advanced Organic Chemistry: Reactions, Mechanisms, and Structure explains the theories of organic chemistry with examples and reactions. This book is the most comprehensive resource about organic chemistry available. Readers are guided on the planning and execution of multi-step synthetic reactions, with detailed descriptions of all the reactions The opening chapters of March's Advanced Organic Chemistry, 8th Edition deal with the structure of organic compounds and discuss important organic chemistry bonds, fundamental principles of conformation, and stereochemistry of organic molecules, and reactive intermediates in organic chemistry. Further coverage concerns general principles of mechanism in organic chemistry, including acids and bases, photochemistry, sonochemistry and microwave irradiation. The relationship between structure and reactivity is also covered. The final chapters cover the nature and scope of organic reactions and their mechanisms. This edition: Provides revised examples and citations that reflect advances in areas of organic chemistry published between 2011 and 2017 Includes appendices on the literature of organic chemistry and the classification of reactions according to the compounds prepared Instructs the reader on preparing and conducting multi-step synthetic reactions, and provides complete descriptions of each reaction The 8th edition of March's Advanced Organic Chemistry proves once again that it is a must-have desktop reference and textbook for every student and professional working in organic chemistry or related fields. Book Dipole Moments in Organic Chemistry

Download or read book Dipole Moments in Organic Chemistry written by V. I. Minkin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In accordance with the aims of the series "Physical Methods in Organic Chemistry," of which this book forms part, the authors r main aim was a systematic account of the most important methods of using the method of dipole moments in organic chemistry and interpreting its results in practice. Since 1955, when two monographs devoted to the fundamentals and applications of the dipole moment method appeared simultaneously (C. P. Smyth, Dielectric Behavior and Structure, McGraw-Hill, New York; and J. W. Smith, Electric Dipole Moments, Butterworths, London), no generalizing studies of this type have appeared in the Russian and foreign literature. Nevertheless, it is just in this per iod that almost half of all publications on the structure and proper ties of organic compounds by means of the dipole moment method have appeared. During this time, the principles of the method of measure mentand the physical theory of the method have not undergone fundamental changes. Consequently, in giving an account of these matters we considered it sufficient to give a very short introduction to the theory of the method that is not burdened with details of the mathematical derivations and the strict formalism of the theory of dielectrics which are hardly used in the applications of the method that are of interest to the organiC chemist (Chapter I).
