This book was released on 2014-03-14 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forschungsarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Führung und Personal - Sonstiges, University of Sheffield, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Over the last few years, social media tools – including blogs, wikis, social networks, video sharing, and community sites, among others – have changed the landscape of the Internet, becoming key tools for network building, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. Now, for those very same purposes, these tools are increasingly being used in the workplace. The benefits of social media have gone as far as being appreciated in human resources circles, and business organizations in Barbados can no longer pass on the creation of networks via social media. As a tremendous form of extensive communication and the development of social relationships, organizations across the globe have counted on social media much more than ever before. They use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and their very own internal social networking sites to reach out to diverse demographics in obtaining top talent and retaining tacit knowledge. Business organizations have used social media to enhance innovation and knowledge creation, which has in turn proved to be highly beneficial in driving effective change and improving performance. The impacts that the use of social media has had on employees’ engagement and job satisfaction cannot be ignored. The basis of this impact is the fact that social media is not just something that employees need; it is something that organizations have to take up for the sake of the future. It is also highly important to evaluate the extent to which social media can be beneficial to organizations and employees in terms of talent development. The combination of these impacts results in increased overall operational efficiency. This literature review seeks to evaluate the various impacts that social media has had on the recruitment processes, innovation

Download or read book The Long term Impact of Social Media Screening in the Public Sector written by Jozette Karaguozian and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current technological advances such as social media screenings have changed the area of human resources in the public sector. There has been a large area of research that indicates the importance of understanding the long-term impact from social media screenings. Despite the importance, most research only provides ethical implications of social media screenings and is primarily aimed towards the private sector. Additionally, there is insufficient research regarding the ethical policy making to conduct social media screenings. This research will also attempt to address the effectiveness of social media screenings and how it relates to ethical decision making. I will use a qualitative case study research by means of interviewing key recruitment personnel including human resource managers, and analysts.

Book The Cambridge Handbook of Technology and Employee Behavior

Download or read book The Cambridge Handbook of Technology and Employee Behavior written by Richard N. Landers and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2019-02-14 with total page 1435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experts from across all industrial-organizational (IO) psychology describe how increasingly rapid technological change has affected the field. In each chapter, authors describe how this has altered the meaning of IO research within a particular subdomain and what steps must be taken to avoid IO research from becoming obsolete. This Handbook presents a forward-looking review of IO psychology's understanding of both workplace technology and how technology is used in IO research methods. Using interdisciplinary perspectives to further this understanding and serving as a focal text from which this research will grow, it tackles three main questions facing the field. First, how has technology affected IO psychological theory and practice to date? Second, given the current trends in both research and practice, could IO psychological theories be rendered obsolete? Third, what are the highest priorities for both research and practice to ensure IO psychology remains appropriately engaged with technology moving forward?

Book The Use of Social Media as a Communication Tool by International Development Organizations

Download or read book The Use of Social Media as a Communication Tool by International Development Organizations written by Inas Taha Abbas Hamad and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: This study investigates to understand how the United Nations development organizations in Egypt can manage social media as a communication tool to achieve their development objectives. A case study of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Egypt, is introduced. Using the Excellence Theory in Public Relations developed by Grunig (2002), this study examines how social media can contribute to the strategic management of the organization, rather than being a messaging, publicity, and media relations function. Through a content analysis of a number of social media pages of the UN organizations in Egypt, and in-depth interviews with four senior communication officers in four UN organizations operating in Egypt, the research shows that most UN organizations in Egypt still struggle with using social media for development purposes. UNICEF Egypt proved to be an "excellent" model for other development organizations to follow by putting clear strategies, planning their social media platforms in the light of the development objectives of the organization, and maintaining a balanced two-way communication mode with stakeholders and target audience. The strategic management of UNICEF Egypt's social media platform has contributed to the achievement of the organizational objectives, and enhanced its role as a development organization at both local and international levels.

Book Social Network Analysis

Download or read book Social Network Analysis written by Dwayne J. Haynes and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABSTRACT: The purpose of this research is to better understand intra-organizational communication within the social network of employees in a local agribusiness firm, and to investigate the statistical relationship between particular social network variables and human resource management demographics. The main method of research was an internet based survey that was designed and is supported by the Food and Resource Economics Department at the University of Florida. Respondents of the survey were asked if, and how well they knew the other employees in the firm. They were also asked how often they communicated with the other employees. A social network analysis program was used to evaluate the data once it had been compiled. This research revealed that XYZ Corporation uses key strategies that allow them to maximize efficiency with regard to communication. One of these strategies is the use of "hybrid" employees throughout various departments. Another is the forging of a unique "communication culture" that is tailored specifically for XYZ. Important results of this research are that demographic variables were not significantly related to centrality scores, indicating a high level of diversity within the firm. Also, while in-person communication and email communication were positively related to degree centrality, phone communication was the only method that yielded a negative relationship to all centrality scores.

Book Social Media in Trinidad

Download or read book Social Media in Trinidad written by Jolynna Sinanan and published by UCL Press. This book was released on 2017-11-21 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on 15 months of ethnographic research in one of the most under-developed regions in the Caribbean island of Trinidad, this book describes the uses and consequences of social media for its residents. Jolynna Sinanan argues that this semi-urban town is a place in-between: somewhere city dwellers look down on and villagers look up to. The complex identity of the town is expressed through uses of social media, with significant results for understanding social media more generally. Not elevating oneself above others is one of the core values of the town, and social media becomes a tool for social visibility; that is, the process of how social norms come to be and how they are negotiated. Carnival logic and high-impact visuality is pervasive in uses of social media, even if Carnival is not embraced by all Trinidadians in the town and results in presenting oneself and association with different groups in varying ways. The study also has surprising results in how residents are explicitly non-activist and align themselves with everyday values of maintaining good relationships in a small town, rather than espousing more worldly or cosmopolitan values.
