Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together a collection of articles that were presented at the Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia (ODLAA) conference in February 2017. The authors share the common agenda of creating meaningful research in the field of distance education. Distinct themes in educational research including open, distance, and flexible education emerged from the conference and this collection addresses each of these themes. The themes explored include: teaching and learning playing an integral role in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) research; ways in which technology is used in the teaching of science subjects; how technology is applied in everyday lives, specifically in the areas of transport, accommodation, and in ordering food; the important and often neglected area of research related to staff development and competencies; research regarding Open Educational Practices (OEP); and the importance of distance education in developing countries, where online interaction is often a challenge – largely because of the lack of stable internet connectivity. This book was originally published as a special issue of Distance Education.

Book Planning for Education in the Context of HIV AIDS

Download or read book Planning for Education in the Context of HIV AIDS written by Michael J. Kelly and published by UNESCO. This book was released on 2000 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This booklet examines briefly the nature and features of HIV/AIDS and the impact of the epidemic on development. Within this context, it examines the interaction between the epidemic and education from two perspectives: the use of education in preventing HIV transmission, and the impact of the disease on education systems. It deals more extensively with the latter aspect, analyzing how HIV/AIDS affects education in terms of demand, clientele (with special reference to orphans), supply, and such quality-related aspects as content, organization and funding. A recurrent theme is that the extensive two-way interaction between HIV/AIDS and educational provision necessitates a radical re-examination of many of the premises underlying education as currently delivered. Education in an AIDS-infected world cannot be the same as education in an AIDS-free world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'The Education System in Malawi', an Education Country Status Report (CSR), is a detailed analysis of the current status of the education sector in Malawi, the results of which have been validated by the government of Malawi. Its main purpose is to enable decision makers to orient national policy on the basis of a factual diagnosis of the overall education sector and to provide relevant analytical information for the dialogue between the government and development partners. The analysis incorporates data and information from multiple sources, such as school administrative surveys by the Ministry of Education, household surveys, and a tracer survey created especially for this study. This CSR, developed by a multi-ministerial national team supported by UNESCO P le de Dakar, the World Bank, and GTZ specialists, updates the previous one drawn up in 2003 and consists of eight chapters, including a chapter on higher education. The analysis provides key monitoring and evaluation inputs for the overall education sector, particularly under the framework of the implementation of the National Education Sector Plan.
