Book An Introduction to Kant s Ethics

Download or read book An Introduction to Kant s Ethics written by Roger J. Sullivan and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1994-07-29 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the most up-to-date, brief and accessible introduction to Kant's ethics available. It approaches the moral theory via the political philosophy, thus allowing the reader to appreciate why Kant argued that the legal structure for any civil society must have a moral basis. This approach also explains why Kant thought that our basic moral norms should serve as laws of conduct for everyone. The volume also includes a detailed commentary on Foundations of the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant's most widely studied work of moral philosophy.

Book Evolution Processes and the Feynman Kac Formula

Download or read book Evolution Processes and the Feynman Kac Formula written by Brian Jefferies and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an outgrowth of ideas originating from 1. Kluvanek. Unfortunately, Professor Kluvanek did not live to contribute to the project of writing up in a systematic form, the circle of ideas to which the present work is devoted. It is more than likely that with his input, the approach and areas of emphasis of the resulting exposition would have been quite different from what we have here. Nevertheless, the stamp of Kluvanek's thought and philosophy (but not necessarily his approval) abounds throughout this book. Although the title gives no indication, integration theory in vector spaces is a cen tral topic of this work. However, the various notions of integration developed here are intimately connected with a specific application-the representation of evolutions by func tional integrals. The representation of a perturbation to the heat semigroup in terms of Wiener measure is known as the Feynman-Kac formula, but the term has a wider meaning in the present work. Traditionally, such representations have been used to obtain analytic information about perturbations to free evolutions as an alternative to arguments with a more operator-theoretic flavour. No applications of this type are given here. It is an un derlying assumption of the presentation of this material that representations of the nature of the Feynman-Kac formula are worth obtaining, and in the process of obtaining them, we may be led to new, possibly fertile mathematical structures-a view largely motivated by the pervasive use of path integrals in quantum physics.

Book The Success Formula

Download or read book The Success Formula written by Andrew Kakabadse and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2015-03-12 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do successful organizations and smart leaders have in common? They deliver outstanding value to their stakeholders. Interviews with over 80 leading organizations in private, public and third sectors from all over the world have led Andrew Kakabadse to a fascinating insight: organizations where stakeholder engagement was highest were not those led by charismatic and visionary leaders, but by a culture of delivering outstanding value. Through his research, he found two different approaches at work. In strategy-led organizations, senior management has a clear notion of how value can be created and enacts a strategy to achieve it with the support of key managers and board members. Value-delivery-led organizations approach value creation differently. In these organizations, the leadership gathers evidence from internal and external stakeholders to determine the value the organization is delivering today and can deliver in the future. A strategy is then put in place to support those findings – and is deliberately exposed to challenges from stakeholders to create engagement. The Success Formula demonstrates how value-delivery-led organizations are outperforming their strategy-led counterparts and how the world's best organizations deliver value to their stakeholders, with examples drawn from Anglo American, Deutsche Bank, Citibank, Jaguar/Landrover, Microsoft, BMW and Alfa Bank. This authoritative guide shows leaders how to improve the way they gather meaningful evidence to create a value-delivery culture that maximizes the benefits for their organizations and stakeholders.

Book NEW THEORY OF PLANETARY MOTION AND NEW FORMULA OF UNIVERSAL GRAVITATION

Download or read book NEW THEORY OF PLANETARY MOTION AND NEW FORMULA OF UNIVERSAL GRAVITATION written by WANG JIANHUA and published by American Academic Press. This book was released on 2022-09-12 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If the solar system is regarded as a moving mass point system, then both the planet m and the sun M move around the solar system mass center O. According to the motion law of the mass point system and the centripetal force formula of the curve, it can be determined through theoretical analysis and mathematical derivation: (1) Kepler's law of planetary motion contradicts the motion rules of mass point systems. (2) The universal gravitational force F between planet m and sun M. K is the new gravitational constant. The force F' on the object m in the inertial frame S'. In the formula, V' is the velocity of the object m in the inertial frame S', and u is the velocity of the inertial frame S' in the cosmic space reference frame. In addition, the author designed three new optical experiments based on the light interference theory to verify whether the principle of constant speed of light conforms to objective facts. Experiment 1. Using the new front and rear hole laser interferometer for verification; Experiment 2. Verification of using long and short optical path Michelson interferometers; Experiment 3. Verification of using a double-hole interferometer.

Book Effective Databases for Text Document Management

Download or read book Effective Databases for Text Document Management written by Shirley A. Becker and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Focused on the latest research on text and document management, this guide addresses the information management needs of organizations by providing the most recent findings. How the need for effective databases to house information is impacting organizations worldwide and how some organizations that possess a vast amount of data are not able to use the data in an economic and efficient manner is demonstrated. A taxonomy for object-oriented databases, metrics for controlling database complexity, and a guide to accommodating hierarchies in relational databases are provided. Also covered is how to apply Java-triggers for X-Link management and how to build signatures."

Book Singular Integral Equations and Discrete Vortices

Download or read book Singular Integral Equations and Discrete Vortices written by Ivan K. Lifanov and published by VSP. This book was released on 1996 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is divided into five parts and opens with elements of the theory of singular integral equation solutions in the class of absolutely integrable and non-integrable functions. The second part deals with elements of potential theory for the Helmholtz equation, especially with the reduction of Dirichlet and Neumann problems for Laplace and Helmholtz equations to singular integral equations. Part three contains methods of calculation for different one-dimensional and two-dimensional singular integrals. In this part, quadrature formulas of discrete vortex pair type in the plane case and closed vortex frame type in the spatial case for singular integrals are described for the first time. These quadrature formulas are applied to numerical solutions of singular integral equations of the 1st and 2nd kind with constant and variable coefficients, in part four of the book. Finally, discrete mathematical models of some problems in aerodynamics, electrodynamics and elasticity theory are given.
