Book excerpt: One of the giants of Hindi literature, Jainendra introduced the ‘psychological’ in Hindi fiction. Questions of love, marriage and relationships occupy much of Jainendra’s works, taking them into the realm of the internal and the intimate. In The Resignation, Jainendra tells the story of Mrinal, a young woman whose uncompromising idealism results in her family and society rejecting her completely. Almost seventy-five years after it was written, the story of Mrinal’s struggle against stultifying social norms and her fierce individualism remain startlingly relevant.

Composed of aphorisms, fragments, and observations both philosophical and personal, Eugene Thacker’s Infinite Resignation traces the contours of pessimism, caught as it is between a philosophical position and a bad attitude. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In talking with women around the country, Jim Henderson has come to believe that there is an epidemic of quiet, even sad resignation among dedicated Christian women who are feeling overworked and undervalued in the church. As a result, many women are discouraged. Some, particularly young women, respond by leaving the organized church . . . or walking away from the faith altogether. Containing personal interviews with women and new research from George Barna, The Resignation of Eve is a field report on what women have to say about how they’ve been affected by their experiences within the church. It is crucially important because, across the board, the research shows that women are driving changes in the church . . . so what will happen if they resign? Inviting women to speak for themselves, The Resignation of Eve is a must-read, life-changing book for women who have been engaged in the Christian church as well as their pastors and ministry leaders.

This book was released on 2019-10-16 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human rights activist Wang Meiyu, 38, was detained after he stood outside the Hunan provincial police department holding a sign that called on President Xi Jinping to resign and implement universal suffrage in China. He was later charged with "picking quarrels and provoking trouble," a vague offence often given to dissidents. Wang, who began his work as an activist when his home was forcibly demolished, has been detained and suffered torture before. In 2018 after he held up the placard calling for President Xi's resignation, police stormed into his home - victimizing, threatening and torturing him. Wang died on 23rd September 2019, after suffering torture in Chinese custody; bleeding from his eyes, mouth, ears and nose. The author's opinion: President Xi should take Wang's brave call for universal suffrage to heart, and implement universal suffrage in China; so that democracy and civil rights - including freedom of religion for Muslim minorities - can finally be manifested for all 1.4 billion people in China.
