Book excerpt: A brutally poignant analysis, with all the fawning, mass-media myth-information stripped bare, leaving the reader aghast at the continuing economic rape of the 'New' China under the aegis of Globalization. With consummate skill, the author of LAND continues in his explosive style by revealing to the world what Globalization in China is really all about. His personal account, gained while teaching in the People's Republic of China, depicts the never-ending suffering, rampant squalor, and complete degradation of the people by the continuous, ever-present boot heel of the current Communist Dynasty. The author's compassion for his students, coupled with a love of the country, bleeds through this finely tuned text in a way that puts many other "academic" treatises to shame. Mr. Klepinger directs all his venom exactly where it belongs - at the contrivance of the Chinese Communist Party, in full compliance with international mega-corporations that legally conspire to ransack, plunder and pillage the working "masses" of the people, all in the euphemistic name of Globalization. His story is astonishing, the examples are breathtaking and the manner in which he presents his case is irrefutable. From wanton graft and political corruption to the officially authorized slave-labor conditions, complete with astounding facts and figures, Mr. Klepinger's fully authoritative presentation reads like a novel. But this is no novel. It is the truth like it has never been told before.

Book The People s Republic of China at 60

Download or read book The People s Republic of China at 60 written by William C. Kirby and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2020-10-26 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2009 the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies convened a major conference to discuss the health and longevity of China’s ruling system and to consider a fundamental question: After three decades of internal strife and turmoil, followed by an era of reform, entrepreneurialism, and internationalization, is the PRC here for the dynastic long haul? Bringing together scholars and students of China from around the world, the gathering witnessed an energetic exchange of views on four interrelated themes: polities, social transformations, wealth and well-being, and culture, belief, and practice. Edited and expanded from the original conference papers, the wide-ranging essays in this bilingual volume remain true to the conference’s aim: to promote open discussion of the past, present, and future of the People’s Republic of China.

Indeed, there are many Chinas, as this comprehensive survey of contemporary China vividly illustrates. Now in a thoroughly revised and updated editionthat offers the only sustained geography of the reform era, this book traces the changes occurring in this powerful and ancient nation across both time and space. Beginning with China's diverse landscapes and environments and continuing through its formative history and tumultuous recent past, the authors present contemporary China as a product of both internal and external forces of past and present. They trace current and future successes and challenges while placing China in its international contextas a massive, still-developing nation that must meet the needs of its 1.3 billion citizens while becoming a major regional and global player. Through clear prose and new, dynamic maps and photos, China's Geography illustrates and explains the greatdifferences in economy and culture found throughout China's many regions.

Book The Long Game

Download or read book The Long Game written by Rush Doshi and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2021-06-11 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than a century, no US adversary or coalition of adversaries - not Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, or the Soviet Union - has ever reached sixty percent of US GDP. China is the sole exception, and it is fast emerging into a global superpower that could rival, if not eclipse, the United States. What does China want, does it have a grand strategy to achieve it, and what should the United States do about it? In The Long Game, Rush Doshi draws from a rich base of Chinese primary sources, including decades worth of party documents, leaked materials, memoirs by party leaders, and a careful analysis of China's conduct to provide a history of China's grand strategy since the end of the Cold War. Taking readers behind the Party's closed doors, he uncovers Beijing's long, methodical game to displace America from its hegemonic position in both the East Asia regional and global orders through three sequential "strategies of displacement." Beginning in the 1980s, China focused for two decades on "hiding capabilities and biding time." After the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, it became more assertive regionally, following a policy of "actively accomplishing something." Finally, in the aftermath populist elections of 2016, China shifted to an even more aggressive strategy for undermining US hegemony, adopting the phrase "great changes unseen in century." After charting how China's long game has evolved, Doshi offers a comprehensive yet asymmetric plan for an effective US response. Ironically, his proposed approach takes a page from Beijing's own strategic playbook to undermine China's ambitions and strengthen American order without competing dollar-for-dollar, ship-for-ship, or loan-for-loan.

This book was released on 1980 with total page 1002 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Included here are more than 200 selections: poems, stories, essays, a hsiang-sheng (comic dialogue), and excerpts from novels, plays, movie scripts, and an opera. Literature of the People's Republic of China offers a fascinating glimpse into Chinese life and demonstrates the struggle of creative writers to be true both to their art and to their country's revolution.--From the publisher.
