Book Developing China The Remarkable Impact of Foreign Direct Investment

Download or read book Developing China The Remarkable Impact of Foreign Direct Investment written by Michael J. Enright and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-09-12 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most important features of China’s economic emergence has been the role of foreign investment and foreign companies. The importance goes well beyond the USD 1.6 trillion in foreign direct investment that China has received since it started opening its economy. Using the tools of economic impact analysis, the author estimates that around one-third of China’s GDP in recent years has been generated by the investments, operations, and supply chains of foreign invested companies. In addition, foreign companies have developed industries, created suppliers and distributors, introduced modern technologies, improved business practices, modernized management training, improved sustainability performance, and helped shape China’s legal and regulatory systems. These impacts have helped China become the world’s second largest economy, its leading exporter, and one of its leading destinations for inward investment. The book provides a powerful analysis of China’s policies toward foreign investment that can inform policy makers around the world, while giving foreign companies tools to demonstrate their contributions to host countries and showing the tremendous power of foreign investment to help transform economies.

Book The Remarkable Rise of Transgender Rights

Download or read book The Remarkable Rise of Transgender Rights written by Jami Kathleen Taylor and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2018-10-17 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While medical identification and treatment of gender dysphoria have existed for decades, the development of transgender as a “collective political identity” is a recent construct. Over the past twenty-five years, the transgender movement has gained statutory nondiscrimination protections at the state and local levels, hate crimes protections in a number of states, inclusion in a federal law against hate crimes, legal victories in the courts, and increasingly favorable policies in bureaucracies at all levels. It has achieved these victories despite the relatively small number of trans people and despite the widespread discrimination, poverty, and violence experienced by many in the transgender community. This is a remarkable achievement in a political system where public policy often favors those with important resources that the transgender community lacks: access, money, and voters. The Remarkable Rise of Transgender Rights explains the growth of the transgender rights movement despite its marginalized status within the current political opportunity structure.

Book Export Product Quality Renewable Energy and Sustainable Production

Download or read book Export Product Quality Renewable Energy and Sustainable Production written by Umer Shahzad and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-09-12 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Economic development has long been acknowledged for its beneficial effects on human well-being. In the context of economic globalization and vertical specialization, increasing the quality of export products is more critical and necessary to export success and sustainable development. The product's quality is inextricably linked to its manufacture and production, which need various types of energy and raw materials. Meanwhile, the adoption of more environmentally friendly and cleaner energy sources contributes to the achievement of sustainable production. Therefore, product quality may provide a new perspective from which to investigate the systematic relationship between greener and renewable energy sources, sustainable production and environmental regulations, as well as the nature of export competitiveness. Generally, export product quality has referred to the quality of manufactured products within the product lines. Quality refers to the relative price of a country's varieties within their respective product lines. Product sophistication assesses the composition of the aggregate exports. Different varieties of same product as per quality level are being produced by several developing and emerging economies. Within any given product line, quality converges both conditionally and unconditionally to the world's benchmark; increases in institutional quality and human capital are associated with faster quality upgrading. In turn, faster growth in quality is associated with more rapid output growth.

Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered about Earth energies, ley lines, portals, sacred sites, and the conscious relation between Gaia and humanity? If so, then this is definitely the book for you. Australian author and naturalist Monika Muranyi has compiled every-thing that Kryon, the great magnetic master channeled by Lee Carroll, has ever shared about Gaia! For more than 23 years, the loving messages of Kryon have been shared worldwide. This book represents an amazing compilation of research that covers many topics never before published by Kryon. Monika's personal experiences and insights weave together the Kryon teachings and wisdom to present a very unique picture of our origins, why we are here, and how we can now grow in a conscious, symbiotic relation with our planet and also open to our star family. This first-time ever compilation of quintessential Kryon teachings includes fascinating new material. We have here a grand perspective of all the love that brought us to this beautiful garden planet. Is it possible that the whole purpose of Gaia is to support humanity? Is it possible that Human Beings are not simply another form of mammal on a planet moving around the sun? Is it possible that the energy delivered from the vibratory rate of this planet is based upon what humanity does and this will actually affect the Universe? The answer is yes to all. So if that is the case, what kind of a system is in place that would allow such a thing to be?That's what we are discussing in this book. Kryon
