Book Low Dimensional Topology and Quantum Field Theory

Download or read book Low Dimensional Topology and Quantum Field Theory written by Hugh Osborn and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The motivations, goals and general culture of theoretical physics and mathematics are different. Most practitioners of either discipline have no necessity for most of the time to keep abreast of the latest developments in the other. However on occasion newly developed mathematical concepts become relevant in theoretical physics and the less rigorous theoretical physics framework may prove valuable in understanding and suggesting new theorems and approaches in pure mathematics. Such interdis ciplinary successes invariably cause much rejoicing, as over a prodigal son returned. In recent years the framework provided by quantum field theory and functional in tegrals, developed over half a century in theoretical physics, have proved a fertile soil for developments in low dimensional topology and especially knot theory. Given this background it was particularly pleasing that NATO was able to generously sup port an Advanced Research Workshop to be held in Cambridge, England from 6th to 12th September 1992 with the title Low Dimensional Topology and Quantum Field Theory. Although independently organised this overlapped as far as some speak ers were concerned with a longer term programme with the same title organised by Professor M Green, Professor E Corrigan and Dr R Lickorish. The contents of this proceedings of the workshop demonstrate the breadth of topics now of interest on the interface between theoretical physics and mathematics as well as the sophistication of the mathematical tools required in current theoretical physics.

Book Completeness Theorems and Characteristic Matrix Functions

Download or read book Completeness Theorems and Characteristic Matrix Functions written by Marinus A. Kaashoek and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-13 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents necessary and sufficient conditions for completeness of the linear span of eigenvectors and generalized eigenvectors of operators that admit a characteristic matrix function in a Banach space setting. Classical conditions for completeness based on the theory of entire functions are further developed for this specific class of operators. The classes of bounded operators that are investigated include trace class and Hilbert-Schmidt operators, finite rank perturbations of Volterra operators, infinite Leslie operators, discrete semi-separable operators, integral operators with semi-separable kernels, and period maps corresponding to delay differential equations. The classes of unbounded operators that are investigated appear in a natural way in the study of infinite dimensional dynamical systems such as mixed type functional differential equations, age-dependent population dynamics, and in the analysis of the Markov semigroup connected to the recently introduced zig-zag process.

Book Design and Development of Efficient Energy Systems

Download or read book Design and Development of Efficient Energy Systems written by Suman Lata Tripathi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is not a single industry which will not be transformed by machine learning and Internet of Things (IoT). IoT and machine learning have altogether changed the technological scenario by letting the user monitor and control things based on the prediction made by machine learning algorithms. There has been substantial progress in the usage of platforms, technologies and applications that are based on these technologies. These breakthrough technologies affect not just the software perspective of the industry, but they cut across areas like smart cities, smart healthcare, smart retail, smart monitoring, control, and others. Because of these “game changers,” governments, along with top companies around the world, are investing heavily in its research and development. Keeping pace with the latest trends, endless research, and new developments is paramount to innovate systems that are not only user-friendly but also speak to the growing needs and demands of society. This volume is focused on saving energy at different levels of design and automation including the concept of machine learning automation and prediction modeling. It also deals with the design and analysis for IoT-enabled systems including energy saving aspects at different level of operation. The editors and contributors also cover the fundamental concepts of IoT and machine learning, including the latest research, technological developments, and practical applications. Valuable as a learning tool for beginners in this area as well as a daily reference for engineers and scientists working in the area of IoT and machine technology, this is a must-have for any library.

Book Handbook of Topological Fixed Point Theory

Download or read book Handbook of Topological Fixed Point Theory written by Robert F. Brown and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-05 with total page 966 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first in the world literature presenting all new trends in topological fixed point theory. Until now all books connected to the topological fixed point theory were devoted only to some parts of this theory. This book will be especially useful for post-graduate students and researchers interested in the fixed point theory, particularly in topological methods in nonlinear analysis, differential equations and dynamical systems. The content is also likely to stimulate the interest of mathematical economists, population dynamics experts as well as theoretical physicists exploring the topological dynamics.
