Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What's special about Oneness Pentecostals? In this penetrating analysis of Oneness theology and practice, Gregory Boyd reveals the experience of four years of personal involvement in a Oneness church. Although Oneness Pentecostals' belief in Christ's deity establishes some common ground with other Christians, their aggressive denial of the Trinity has nonetheless fostered their indisputably sub-Christian ideas about God's character, about salvation, and about Christian living.

Download or read book The Oneness Hypothesis written by Philip J. Ivanhoe and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea that the self is inextricably intertwined with the rest of the world—the “oneness hypothesis”—can be found in many of the world’s philosophical and religious traditions. Oneness provides ways to imagine and achieve a more expansive conception of the self as fundamentally connected with other people, creatures, and things. Such views present profound challenges to Western hyperindividualism and its excessive concern with self-interest and tendency toward self-centered behavior. This anthology presents a wide-ranging, interdisciplinary exploration of the nature and implications of the oneness hypothesis. While fundamentally inspired by East and South Asian traditions, in which such a view is often critical to their philosophical approach, this collection also draws upon religious studies, psychology, and Western philosophy, as well as sociology, evolutionary theory, and cognitive neuroscience. Contributors trace the oneness hypothesis through the works of East Asian and Western schools, including Confucianism, Mohism, Daoism, Buddhism, and Platonism and such thinkers as Zhuangzi, Kant, James, and Dewey. They intervene in debates over ethics, cultural difference, identity, group solidarity, and the positive and negative implications of metaphors of organic unity. Challenging dominant views that presume that the proper scope of the mind stops at the boundaries of skin and skull, The Oneness Hypothesis shows that a more relational conception of the self is not only consistent with contemporary science but has the potential to lead to greater happiness and well-being for both individuals and the larger wholes of which they are parts.

  • Publisher : The Golden Sufi Center
  • Release : 2002-05-02
  • ISBN : 1890350052

Download or read book Working with Oneness written by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee and published by The Golden Sufi Center. This book was released on 2002-05-02 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Humanity has been given access to the secrets of oneness, but we need to learn how to work with them. Working with Oneness brings mysticism into the center of the marketplace, into the world of business and technology, and shows how we can work with it in everyday life. The dynamic energy of oneness has the potential to heal the planet and revolutionize life more than we can imagine, but it requires our individual participation and awareness to become fully alive. The energy of oneness is already present but waiting to be lived, and Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee provides a blueprint for working consciously with this energy. As we understand how our consciousness affects the whole fabric of life, the potential for real global change comes alive. Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee stresses the need to change from hierarchical, patriarchal power structures to organic patterns that allow for the free flow of energy and ideas. Through these patterns the dynamic energy of oneness can become part of everyday life. Working with Oneness includes a number of additional important topics, including: the changing energy structure of the planet and how to work with it; the power of individual consciousness; the danger of the desire for spiritual security; the return of joy to everyday life; the awakening of the heart of the world; a new understanding of magic; the use of the imagination; and mystical participation in life with the energy of oneness. Working with Oneness offers guidance on how to work with the energy of oneness, to learn how to participate in life free of the patterns of the past, so that the divine can come alive in every moment of every day. Working with Oneness is mystical activism at its most potent. “There is a growing and eager audience waiting for a vision of unity consciousness... Working with Oneness offers a salutary antidote to worn-out antagonisms. It challenges readers to join other kindred souls in a mystical activism that can bring new hope to humanity.” —Spirituality & Health “A book filled with wonder and the kind of insights that can leap out to your heart and gladden you for having read them. It's words are simple and straightforward—always a blessing—but its message it the most vital and important for the time in which we live. I recommend it.” —David Spangler, author, Blessings: the Art and the Practice

Book Necessary Oneness

  • Author : Audrey Randolph
  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2009-07
  • ISBN : 9781436334518
  • Pages : 144 pages

Download or read book Necessary Oneness written by Audrey Randolph and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2009-07 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NECESSARY ONENESS presents Christianity as the practical theology that it is and as it has been intended. Both Volumes are Bible-based, inspirational books that, in their very designs, reveal uniqueness unparalleled to any other because they have been crafted with precision that relates form and content. Volume I is CHILDREN OF GOD; Volume II, GOD WITH US. Both books are short: Volume I is 168 pages, and Volume II is even shorter 88 pages. The premiere editions of both Volumes of NECESSARY ONENESS are collector's items; both have an autograph section that can be presented at book signings for Sister Randolph's signature. (Those presenting the book for such signings will receive a special bookmark.) Readers are hungry for spiritual knowledge, and many have sought such in Eastern religions without realizing that Christianity has always been an exceptionally spiritual religion that endues us with spiritual power. Because of Sister Randolph's experiences as educator; her study of at least ten different churches; her being a thinker with established literary criticism skills; her knowledge of communication theory and practice; her knowledge of rhetorical theory and practice; and especially because of Holy Spirit direction, these unique Volumes can be easily read and understood. The Bible is the most widely read book in the world, but Sister Randolph would add that it is perhaps the most widely read, but misunderstood, book in the world. Seven chapters comprise each of the Volumes, and seven is the number of completion. Each volume has a prologue and epilogue, containing excerpts from the Bible, indicating God as alpha and omega, the beginning and the ending (Revelation to John 1:8 and 11; 21:6-7; 22:12-13; Isaiah 41:4; 44:6; and 48:12). In addition, all of the seven chapters begin with the letter C; C represents the anointed one Christ. Volume I gives the meaning of 3:16 and examines the presentment of oneness in the Bible. Each of the 3:16 verses of the New Testament is presented and explained in Volume II, and a section called activation at the end engages readers in aspects of Christianity that help edify, enlighten, and empower via the Holy Spirit. The preface gives a poem with biblical references following, focusing on important aspects of each Volume. Each chapter of Volume I ends with the same sequence: PRAISE THE LORD, FORGIVE, ASK FOR FORGIVENESS; AUDIBLY PRAY . . . ; AWAIT GOD'S RESPONSE. However, Volume II begins with prayer: AUDIBLY PRAY FOR THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM. The text is written in third person plural (using pronouns we, us, our, etc.) that focus on unity of THE FAMILY OF GOD. Being Bible-based, the Volumes cite references to prove presented points. Volume I should be read before Volume II as it gives background information, such as the dimensions that give insight into, for example, the transcendent dimension that facilitates understanding of the co-existence of the spiritual and natural. The Volumes can be considered both trade and academic texts because they are scholarly works. They discuss the sacred and secular, presenting allusion and examples to facilitate understanding. Volume I presents several pages that compare SPIRITUAL/BIBLICAL with NATURAL/DISCOVERIES. Furthermore, the claim of German philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (1844-1900) that God is dead which is widely acclaimed in academia is refuted. After the epilogue, each Volume ends with a significant two-page spread, pinpointing a serious message. Finally, the last page of each Volume announces Sister Randolph's next publication KNOWING KNOWING: MANIFESTIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. Finally, the logo,* a unique creation of the author, symbolizes Christian oneness. Together, the two Volumes of Necessary Oneness provide a treasury of knowledge, holding valuable investments that have already been provided Christians, who are now joint-heirs with Christ. *The logo re

Download or read book Our Oneness in Christ written by Ian Johnson and published by PublishAmerica. This book was released on 2006-12-26 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book starts by establishing that all believers in Christ are already, in fact, one with each other in Christ. This leaves us with the challenge, not of creating unity where it does not exist, but of living consistently with the oneness that already exists. The first section explains why living consistently with our oneness is important, including God’s commands and expectations, the benefits of living in oneness and the hazards of living contrary to the truth. Part two explains what oneness is and is not, including the concepts that oneness is a harmony of diverse believers each doing their own part, not unison, unanimity or strict conformity to the same mold. The third section deals with practical barriers to living in oneness—selfishness, misunderstandings, heresy, and incorrect understanding of the origin of the organizational divisions in the universal Church—and suggests how to overcome them.

Book God With Us and Without Us Volume One

Download or read book God With Us and Without Us Volume One written by Imad N. Shehadeh and published by Langham Publishing. This book was released on 2018-09-30 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The revelation of the Trinity establishes that the relationship of the one true God with us springs from the relationship within himself, without us. The Trinity is not a problem to be solved, but a beauty to be discovered. Dr Imad N. Shehadeh uses careful exegetical and theological analysis to explore the presentation of the triune God in Scripture and expertly navigate the reader through the errors and pitfalls regarding the Trinity. This book explains the essential role that the perfect truth of a three-in-one God plays in being able to know God and be sure of his character. Dr Shehadeh doesn’t fear to tread on controversial ground but instead addresses key issues in theology, the study of God, such as the logic of the Trinity, and whether the God of the Bible is the same as the god of other religions. This first of two volumes, is a valuable contribution to the theological academy but also is an accessible guide for anyone to encounter the perfect, holy, triune, God.
