Download or read book The Relationship of Perceived Servant Leadership and Job Satisfaction from the Follower s Perspective written by Sherri C. Hebert and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study was designed to examine the relationship between employees' perceptions of servant leadership characteristics in their organizations and their level of personal job satisfaction. The perception of servant leadership was measured using the Organizational Leadership Assessment (OLA) developed by Dr. James Laub. This study measured job satisfaction on two levels: overall job satisfaction and intrinsic job satisfaction. The Mohrman-Cooke-Mohrman Job Satisfaction Scale (MCMJSS) was used to measure overall job satisfaction, and sections from both tools were combined to measure intrinsic job satisfaction. The participants' responses were further examined against demographic variables of gender, education level, age, level in the organization, and employment sector. Twelve organizations from both public and private sectors participated in this study. The study results indicated a significant relationship between perceptions of servant leadership and overall and intrinsic job satisfaction.

Book The Relationship Between Servant Leadership and Job Satisfaction

Download or read book The Relationship Between Servant Leadership and Job Satisfaction written by Rupa B. Amin and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Servant leadership has been a trending topic of modern leadership theories and has been shown to be related to outcomes such as job satisfaction and organizational commitment, but it has been understudied, particularly in the public sector. Therefore, the relationship between servant leadership and job satisfaction was examined longitudinally in a public organization. Data from 515 employees from varying levels of employment within the organization supported previous research findings that servant leadership is positively linked to job satisfaction. However, the current study also revealed that the presence of servant leadership did not always translate to increased job satisfaction. Workforce and management personnel did not feel an increased level of job satisfaction even after the leaders had undergone servant leadership training. This study indicated that organizations should carefully consider the state of the organizational environment and whether other factors, such as budget restrictions, could influence job satisfaction more so than servant leadership.

Download or read book Fire and Emergency Service Employees Perceptions of Servant Leadership and Job Satisfaction written by Christian O. Lindquist and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this quantitative correlational research study was to examine if a relationship existed between perceived servant leadership behaviors of (a) displays authenticity, (b) values people, (c) develops people, (d) builds community, (e) provides leadership, and (f) shares leadership of fire and emergency service leaders and employee job satisfaction in fire and emergency services personnel. The relationship between servant leadership behaviors and employee job satisfaction is currently unknown. The theoretical foundation for this study, servant leadership, supported the idea that employee perceptions of servant leadership characteristics affected employee job satisfaction within four career fire and emergency service organizations in the western United States. Two hundred and five participants completed the Organizational Leadership Assessment and the data were analyzed using Spearman's correlation. The results showed that there is a statistically significant relationship between servant leadership and employee job satisfaction in fire and emergency services personnel (p ≤ .001). The results of this study are important with regard to the following areas: (a) providing empirical findings to fire and emergency service leaders regarding the value of servant leadership in overcoming toxic and bureaucratic environments within fire and emergency service organizations, (b) fostering a community of responders where leaders can remove or reduce bureaucratic stumbling blocks, (c) creating a healthy work environment where leaders strengthen individual responders, and (d) in improving the overall health, safety, and well-being of fire and emergency service personnel.

Book Servant Leadership and Transformational Leadership as Predictors of Follower Trust and Satisfaction

Download or read book Servant Leadership and Transformational Leadership as Predictors of Follower Trust and Satisfaction written by Gerald Bernard and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study is to explore relationships between two dominant yet theoretically distinct perspectives of leadership, namely servant leadership (Greanleaf, 1977; Spears, 1998) and transformational leadership (Bass & Avolio, 1994). Data about leadership are drawn from self-reported surveys of employees from the health care services sector. Employees assessed the leadership qualities of their supervisors using the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ form 5x-short), Organizational Leadership Assessment (OLA), Leadership Trust Inventory, and the Job Diagnostic Survey. A total of 196 respondents completed the survey. Using correlational methods including chi square and spearman rho tests, a series of findings indicate that a high degree of correlation among two leadership theories. Specifically, the concepts of servant leadership, and transformational leadership correlated with one another (rho = .781), which suggests a positive relationship between the two leadership approaches. Two additional validity assessments, leadership trust and job satisfaction, were also found to be positively correlated with the leadership measure. Trust correlated positively with both servant and transformational leadership (rho = ,773; rho = .767), again suggesting that both leadership approaches contain similar characteristics that are deemed trustworthy by followers. Interestingly, job satisfaction had a lower level of correlation with trust, servant leadership and transformational leadership (rho = .466; rho = .422; rho =.454) suggesting that other variables may also have an impact on job satisfaction in addition to leadership style.
