Book The Relationship Between Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care and Nursing Job Satisfaction

Download or read book The Relationship Between Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care and Nursing Job Satisfaction written by Natalie J. Leriger and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Patient satisfaction, which has become a priority for hospitals and an indicator of quality, is a result of a patient's perception of care. The consequences of not adequately providing high levels of patient satisfaction can be enormously costly to the greater healthcare system. The literature provided evidence that effective patient satisfaction is multifactorial; one key factor noted was nursing care. This study examined the relationship between patient satisfaction with nursing care and nursing job satisfaction.

Book The Relationship Between Nurse Job Satisfaction and Patient Safety

Download or read book The Relationship Between Nurse Job Satisfaction and Patient Safety written by Sherrie B. Lee and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The demand for registered nurses has been projected to increase to 22% by 2018. Nursing retention is a major concern due to the potential effects on the quality of patient care. Therefore, early identification of nursing satisfaction within an organization will enable managers to intervene before staff turnover becomes an issue, which creates a domino effect that potentially jeopardizes patient safety. The purpose of this descriptive-correlational study was to explore the relationship between nursing job satisfaction and patient safety. The guiding theoretical framework was Marilyn Ray's Theory of Bureaucratic Caring, which focused on the caring and political concepts. Analysis was completed by using the Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences 16.0 © (SPSS). A sample of 16 post-licensure Bachelors of Science Nursing students, between 21-59 years of age, with a mean of 40 years, was recruited from the University. Data was collected through Demographic Data Questionnaire, Job Satisfaction Survey and Patient Safety Survey. The total Job Satisfaction Score (M=138.4, SD=24.4) revealed the study participants were ambivalent about their jobs. The four variables the participants identified as being most important to job satisfaction were: Coworkers, Supervision, Nature of the work, and Communication. Participants identified their Coworkers were most important to their job satisfaction (M=19.73, SD=3.53), closely followed by Supervision (M=18.73, SD=4.56). The Nature of Work (M=16.86, SD=3.21) and Communication (M=15.56, SD=2.48) were viewed as being important to participant's job satisfaction. The Patient Safety Survey revealed that participants were able to identify their opinion of the overall safety in their work unit. The four variables participants ranked the highest with regards to patient safety in their facility were: frequency of reported events (M=3.94, SD 1.04), management (M=3.83, SD 0.89) and communication (M=3.64, SD 0.68). A strong positive correlation was found to exist between nursing job satisfaction and patient safety (r(6) = 0.871, p

Book Collaborating for Better Outcomes

Download or read book Collaborating for Better Outcomes written by Sinead Mary Sheehan and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Registered Nurses (RNs) are crucial to delivering care, it is important to determine the factors which contribute to a healthy work environment for nurses and positive outcomes for patients. Past research has focused on the benefits of nurse-physician collaboration including improved nurse/ patient satisfaction and lower patient mortality. The few studies which have explored nurse-nurse collaboration have linked it with positive outcomes. To determine whether there is a relationship between nurse-nurse collaboration and nurse job satisfaction in the hospital setting, this correlational study involved a convenience/ snowball sample of RNs working in hospitals, who completed the two study instruments (Dougherty-Larson Nurse-Nurse Collaboration Instrument [DLNNCI] and McCloskey Mueller Satisfaction Scale [MMSS]). The results indicated a significant, positive correlation between nurse-nurse collaboration and nurse job satisfaction (r = .569, p

Book Nurse Manager Emotional Intelligence as a Predictor to Registered Nurse Job Satisfaction and RN Perceptions of the Practice Environment and the Relationship to Patient Nursing and Hospital Outcomes

Download or read book Nurse Manager Emotional Intelligence as a Predictor to Registered Nurse Job Satisfaction and RN Perceptions of the Practice Environment and the Relationship to Patient Nursing and Hospital Outcomes written by Jacqueline Cecilia Munro and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to determine if the level of Nurse Manager (NM) emotional intelligence (EI) predicted registered nurse (RN) job satisfaction and RN perceptions of the practice environment. In addition, relationships to patient, nursing, and hospital outcomes were explored. Participants included RNs (N=659) and NMs (N=38) from 53 nursing units at eight hospitals located in the southeast region of the United States. A cross-sectional, correlational research design was used to test the hypotheses. Pearson product-moment correlation coefficients, simple linear and multiple regression statistics were conducted to analyze the data. Level of NM EI had a positive, not significant relationshp to RN job satisfaction and RN perceptions of the practice environment. A direct, positive significant relationship was observed between the variables NM EI and patient satisfaction with nursing care. There was a positive, significant relationship noted between the variables RN job satisfaction and RN perceptions of the practice environment. The indirect relationships between the level of NM EI and patient, nursing and hospital outcomes were not significant. There was a direct significant, positive relationship noted between the variables RN perceptions of the practice environment and patient satisfaction with nursing care. In addition, the interaction between RN job satisfaction and RN hours of care had a positive, significant relationship with unit level pressure ulcer rates. This study indicated that units with higher RN hours of care have increased pressure ulcer rates. In addition, results illustrate a marked increase in pressure ulcer rates on those units with higher levels of job satisfaction. In this study, pressure ulcer rates depended on the level of RN job satisfaction.
