The book examines the Christian-Muslim encounter as a journey at three distinct and interrelated levels: first, we meet as human beings; second, as monotheistic believers; and third, as witnessing believers. Dr. Bakhou follows in Jesus' steps as He spoke with the Samaritan woman at the well and the two disciples walking to Emmaus. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A welcome expansion of the fragile territory known as common ground.” —The New York Times When Reza Aslan’s bestseller Zealot came out in 2013, there was criticism that he hadn’t addressed his Muslim faith while writing the origin story of Christianity. In fact, Ross Douthat of The New York Times wrote that “if Aslan had actually written in defense of the Islamic view of Jesus, that would have been something provocative and new.” Mustafa Akyol’s The Islamic Jesus is that book. The Islamic Jesus reveals startling new truths about Islam in the context of the first Muslims and the early origins of Christianity. Muslims and the first Christians—the Jewish followers of Jesus—saw Jesus as not divine but rather as a prophet and human Messiah and that salvation comes from faith and good works, not merely as faith, as Christians would later emphasize. What Akyol seeks to reveal are how these core beliefs of Jewish Christianity, which got lost in history as a heresy, emerged in a new religion born in 7th Arabia: Islam. Akyol exposes this extraordinary historical connection between Judaism, Jewish Christianity and Islam—a major mystery unexplored by academia. From Jesus’ Jewish followers to the Nazarenes and Ebionites to the Qu’ran’s stories of Mary and Jesus, The Islamic Jesus will reveal links between religions that seem so contrary today. It will also call on Muslims to discover their own Jesus, at a time when they are troubled by their own Pharisees and Zealots.

Book excerpt: New York Times bestselling books have taken the view that the oldest New Testament documents paint a very different picture to later copies. Others are of the opinion that the original gospel accounts were never intended to be historically accurate. Many people assume that the bias of the original New Testament authors distorted their recollections of Jesus, and Jesus' words were not put into written form for several decades, allowing distortion to occur. What would you say? What do you believe and why? Were Jesus' words recorded accurately by the gospel writers during Jesus' life & the making & copying of the New Testament? This highly readable journey of discovery considers gospel textual criticism, Christian historiography, archaeology, literacy & more. See evidence for the reliability of the recounting of Jesus as found in the Bible. This Christian apologetic book provides evidence in an engaging manner, following along a logical journey of discovery. When you've purchased and read this book you will: - understand how literate and historically aware the ancient civilisations were - appreciate how it was possible for the first disciples to accurately record Jesus' life and teachings - have a highly readable explanation of early Greek New Testament documents and know what they have to say about accuracy in copying - know the content and credibility of non-Christian ancient literature that comment on Jesus and the first Christians.

Download or read book Jesus and Muhammad in the Bibhle written by C. Hore and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-12 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One issue that often brings conflict between Christians and Muslims is the issue of the identity of Jesus Christ and that of Muhammad. Why Muslims see Jesus Christ as nothing more than a servant and a messenger of Allah, the Christians see him beyond that, Christians see Jesus as the Son of God the very image of the invisible God who came into the world the save man from sin and destruction. You would not need to have much training in Christian Theology to be able to see that Jesus' foot print is in almost all the books of the Bible; from Genesis to Revelation. In the Bible you see Jesus in prophesies, Jesus in action and Jesus in allusion. Christians never mistake Muhammad for anything other than a false prophet and an impostor into the Abrahamic monotheism, but the Muslims consider him a prophet and a messenger of Allah their God and a role model for all his followers. The reasons for these two different and divergent views are not farfetched, Muslims read the Bible in the light of the Quran. The Quran claim that it is the final revelation of God, you will lose out if you don't key in. While Christians read the Quran in the light of the Bible, the unchangeable eternal word of God, and that leads to different conclusion and identification of the two great personalities Jesus and Muhammad. Ironically, however, the very characteristics of Muhammad as extoled in the Quran and Hadiths as those of a great prophet are the same characteristics when looking at in the light of the gospel of Christ the same exposed him as a false prophet, but this is completely concealed to the Muslims. The Quran required the Muslims to check up with the Bible for confirmation of the truth of the Quranic revelation, but the extent to which Muslims hid to this instruction is a different thing altogether (Q5:47-49,10:94) In this book, however we will look at Jesus and Muhammad in the light of the Bible revelation in an attempt to answer sundry questions that will help probe into some basic truth about these two personalities with the aim of helping you make right decision that may determine your destiny. This is not being partial but the right thing to do since the Bible predate the Quran for at least 600 years and if they both came from the same source then the former should be the benchmark for the confirmation of the truth. After going through this book, you should be able to take responsibility for who you trust with your life in time and in eternity. It is your God given ability to discern and to choose between good and evil. Christian attempt to reach the Muslims with the gospel of Jesus Christ has always been met with strong resistance and the reasons are obvious: It has always been because of lack of proper knowledge of who really was Jesus Christ and who was Muhammad. There are a number of things that fuel their stiff resistance to the Gospel: The Muslims are under the illusion that God has given them the best religion in the world, not knowing that religion is a curse to mankind, no religion is capable of given man salvation. The word religion is not even mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible and in the few places where it was mentioned in the New Testament is not something one should desire to have. From Genesis to Revelation God wants man to relate to him in a family relationship predicated on love. A relationship based on pure love towards God and towards our fellow men. The Quran made Muslims to understand that one of the unpardonable sins of man is to make God a partner with man, and Christianity and Judaism happens to falls under the categories of religion that makes their prophets partners with God according to Islam and this is shirk the unpardonable sin.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is it possible to rethink the multilayered and polyvalent Christology of the Qur’ān against the intersecting of competing peripheral Christianities, anti-Jewish Christian polemics, and the making of a new Arab state in the 7th-century Near East? To what extent may this help us to decipher, moreover, the intricate redactional process of the quranic corpus? And can we unearth from any conclusions as to the tension between a messianic-oriented and a prophetic-guided religious thought buried in the document? By analysing, first, the typology and plausible date of the Jesus texts contained in the Qur’ān (which implies moving far beyond both the habitual chronology of the Qur’ān and the common thematic division of the passages in question) and by examining, in the second place, the Qur’ān’s earliest Christology via-à-vis its later (and indeed much better known) Muhamadan kerygma, the present study answers these crucial questions and, thereby, sheds new light on the Qur’ān’s original sectarian milieu and pre-canonical development.

Book The Qur An by the Light of the Gospel

Download or read book The Qur An by the Light of the Gospel written by Patrick John and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2018-02-23 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If a Muslim came to a Christian, and asked him to explain his belief in Jesus Christ how would a Christian respond? If an Imam asked a Christian Pastor to bring evidence of the Gospels authority would a Pastor welcome the opportunity? And if any Muslim would ask a Christian to judge between their respective beliefs would a Christian know how to do it? These questions presupposed an occurrence that most Christians will never encounter because most Muslims do not ask. Yet, the Quran has been asking these exact same questions of us for the last thirteen hundred years! Should we ignore the Quran for another Millennia? It is time to answer. On a visit to my local mosque, I asked the Imam if I could pray with him. Before I started to pray the Imam quickly interjected. You are not going to pray to Mary, are you? That there are those who pray to Mary (and worship her) is maybe understandable but it is not Biblical! Christians are told in the Quran to desist using the term Trinity. But the word Trinity is not found in the Bible. I believe, as Abraham believed, that there is a God that can be seen and a God that we do not see BUT they are one and the same! Allah is not a name, but the Arabic word for God, even Christians in the Middle East use the word! Al-Maidah 47 Let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed in it. Isaiah 43:10 You are my witness, declares the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Here we hopefully put right many misconceptions and bring what God has revealed.

Book The Qur an and the Christian

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding Islam's sacred text is integral to understanding your Muslim neighbor Cross-cultural missionary and scholar Matthew Aaron Bennett blends the insights of Islamic believers, secular Qur'an scholars, and missionaries to Muslims, making The Qur'an and the Christian like no other resource for Christian ministry to Muslims. Combining these perspectives in one guide better equips Christians to communicate the biblical gospel to friends and neighbors who are adherents to Islam--both in and out of majority-Muslim cultures. The Qur'an and the Christian addresses issues both simple and profound, such as: 1. How the Qur'an came to be, including Muhammed and the Qur'an's textual precursors 2. The major themes of the Qur'an and how these shape the practice of Islam 3. The presence of Bible characters, Jews, and Christians in the Qur'anic text 4. Whether and how a Christian should read the Qur'an 5. Avoiding miscommunication with Muslims when the Qur'an and Christian teaching seem to overlap This book will help Christians learn how to explore Islamic faith with missiological wisdom and biblical precision. The Qur'an and the Christian will give believers the insight to deepen friendships, promote understanding, and clarify the biblical gospel among Muslim friends and neighbors.

Book Shining the Gospel Light on the Quran

Download or read book Shining the Gospel Light on the Quran written by Abjar Bahkou and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Witnessing to Muslims should come with respect and compassion toward their differing beliefs. Yet historically, this has not been the truth. Author Abjar Bahkou has spent many years teaching about Muslim-Christian encounters locally and globally, creating the seed that grew into this book. He has personally lived these challenges in Syria and was always encouraged to face them by learning about God, who, in the incarnation, breaks in and builds bridges with humans. He did that by becoming one of us: He built the bridge to Christians in the person of Jesus Christ so that we would become His children. This book divides the task of sharing the Gospel with Muslims into four steps. First, see how to critically and respectfully engage with Islam and its teachings. Second, consider the teachings of Islam from a Christian perspective, learning the differences between Islam and Christianity. Third, learn how to respectfully answer Islam's questions about Christian doctrine. Finally, explore practical steps to minister and share a contextualized Gospel message with Muslims. Book jacket.

Book The True Revelation of Jesus Christ

Download or read book The True Revelation of Jesus Christ written by Desmond Teddy and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2016-07-08 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written to assist Jews, Muslims, atheists and mostly Christians in gaining a more comprehensive and accurate knowledge and understanding about Jesus Christ. The overwhelming weight of evidence placed on Jesus in this work as Lord and Savior of the universe is far greater than what the Quran narrates or what the Jew can accommodate. The evidence is so strong and so clear, that it gives understanding to the atheist and boosts up the knowledge of the reader about Jesus Christ, who is 100 percent man and 100 percent God. The journey from the original plan of God for man to the end of time is explained with examples of incompatibility between the Bible and the Quran. Thus, the reader is brought to a deeper knowledge of the Biblical inerrancy concerning the Godhead of the Bible and the great rescue plan of the Creator of the universe through Jesus Christ. You will find thrilling information which will kick your socks off and keep your mind and spirit in balance as you continue to read. I would say it is food for thought to change your life for the better.

Download or read book Jesus in the Bible Jesus in the Quran written by Mohammad A. Mughal and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-05-27 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is unique in this book is that it shows beautiful verses about the extraordinary character of Jesus. At the same time, the author reveals how Christian scholars have discovered contradiction, translation errs, and lies in the Bible and these cannot serve as the sound basis for moral guidance. A penetrating and insightful investigation into the mysterious life of Jesus. This book presents the life of Jesus and many traditional beliefs. He is loved both by Christians and Muslims. Many miracles of Jesus can be found in the Quran. Jesus said one cannot serve two Masters: God and Money. But Vatican Bank is reported to have $8 Billion which seems to be a contradiction to the teachings of Jesus. Churches are unable to stop the moral decay in the society with growing use of drugs, liquor, gambling, violence, scandals, abortions, divorces, and family disintegration resulting in the decline of Christianity. This book is intended to create a debate about the true life of Jesus who was a great Prophet and a spirit from God. He chose to live a life of poverty. Majority of the Christians are kind and generous people but they are not fully aware of the spiritual life of Jesus. There are many books, movies, television shows which do not correctly reflect the true life of Jesus. Likewise, there are thousands of different false images of Jesus. To the contrary, the Quran and traditions of the Prophet Muhammad describe the pure character and life of Jesus. In the Bible, Jesus says: "Love thy enemy" and "Do not retaliate." However, unjust wars have been launched, in the last few years, by leaders claiming to be true Christians. This book presents a comparative analysis about the life of Jesus from the Christian as well as Islamic perspective.

Book The History of Islamic Theology from Muhammad to the Present

Download or read book The History of Islamic Theology from Muhammad to the Present written by Tilman Nagel and published by Markus Wiener Pub. This book was released on 2000 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study of Islam. Using the Koran and other primary sources, Tilman Nagel delves deeply into Islamic history as he traces the development of Islamic doctrine. He explores the centrality of the Koran in Islamic theology and examines its canonization process and the central themes of its message. The work goes on to explore the relationships between such Islamic sects as the Sunni and the Shiite, and the two types of Islamic theological literature: the hadith, an oral report or story, and the ""kalam"", a genre that ""develops theological and metaphysical statements"". The author also examines Islamic monotheism; the development of Islamic philosophy in the Middle Ages and its relation to theology; and the relationship between Islam and Gnosticism. Although the focus of the book is on the 9th to the 12th centuries, Nagel demonstrates the ways in which Muslims have carried these beliefs into the modern world.

Book excerpt: My advice is as follows: the Quran is the guide and the weapon of Muslims. Through the 114 Suras and 6,247 verses of the Quran, Muslims must well-handle this guide, this weapon, to combat their ignorance of the divine truth. This truth will set them free and will help them to find the path of salvation. After death, the body remains on earth and the soul joined God Almighty through a single door to be judged. And everyone, particularly my Muslim brothers and sisters, must seek and find that single door in order to save his own soul. Being a suspension of spermatozoon, do not challenge God the Father and obey his holy Word. My prayer goes to all people who will read and trust this book. And I encourage everyone to do their own research in order to find the divine truth from God the Father.
