Book The Qualia Revolution

Download or read book The Qualia Revolution written by Peter Wilberg and published by . This book was released on 2004-04 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most fundamental scientific fact is not the existence of the physical universe, but our awareness of that universe. Not even the most advanced physics, physiology or psychology, however, can explain even the most elementary qualities of our sensory awareness of that universe - qualities such as redness for example. Qualia used to be defined as sensory qualities such as colour and tone. But what if awareness is not an empty receptacle for sensory impressions, but has its own intrinsic sensual qualities - of the sort we experience as the inwardly sensed shape and substantiality of our bodies, the sensed lightness or darkness colour or tone of our moods, or a sensed feeling of warmth or coolness, closeness or distance to another human being? What if such sensual qualities of awareness are intrinsically meaningful - being the felt essence of meaning or sense? is not energetic quanta but qualia in this sense - sensed and sensual qualities of awareness - that are the basic stuff of which the universe is composed. It argues that qualia are not simply qualities of our own human awareness but fundamental units of awareness. Atoms, molecules and cells are recognised as the physical form taken by field-patterns of atomic, molecular and cellular awareness composed of such units. The soul is understood as an ever-changing gestalt of such units, each of which possess characteristics of both unit and field, particle and wave - allowing the soul-qualities of our own awareness to mix and merge with those of all other beings.

Book Language and Revolutionary Magic in the Orinoco Delta

Download or read book Language and Revolutionary Magic in the Orinoco Delta written by Juan Luis Rodriguez and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-10-15 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the 2021 New Voices Book Award by the Society for Linguistic Anthropology Exploring the ways in which the development of linguistic practices helped expand national politics in remote, rural areas of Venezuela, Language and Revolutionary Magic in the Orinoco Delta situates language as a mediating force in the creation of the 'magical state'. Focusing on the Waraos speakers of the Orinoco Delta, this book explores center–periphery dynamics in Venezuela through an innovative linguistic anthropological lens. Using a semiotic framework informed by concepts of 'transduction' and 'translation', this book combines ethnographic and historical evidence to analyze the ideological mediation and linguistic practices involved in managing a multi-ethnic citizenry in Venezuela. Juan Luis Rodriguez shows how indigenous populations participate in the formation and contestation of state power through daily practices and the use of different speech genres, emphasising the performative and semiotic work required to produce revolutionary subjects. Establishing the centrality of language and semiosis in the constitution of authority and political power, this book moves away from seeing revolution in solely economic or ideological terms. Through the collision between Warao and Spanish, it highlights how language ideologies can exclude or integrate indigenous populations in the public sphere and how they were transformed by Hugo Chavez' revolutionary government to promote loyalty to the regime.

Book The New Yoga Tantra Reborn the Sensuality Sexuality of Our Immortal Soul Body

Download or read book The New Yoga Tantra Reborn the Sensuality Sexuality of Our Immortal Soul Body written by Peter Wilberg and published by Exposure Publishing. This book was released on 2007 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What would it be like to know that you are indeed immortal, that your physical body is but the outward form taken by your own eternal inner form or soul body? What would it be like to dissolve the bodily boundaries that seem to separate you from the souls of others, learning to feel your soul in their body and their soul in yours? What would it be like to see and feel your partner as the embodiment of a god or goddess, and to experience the bliss of 'soul body sex' - an intensely sensual intimacy and intercourse with their divine soul body? The New Yoga is a yoga of the soul body - that body with which we can intimately sense, feel and touch others - independently of physical contact. The New Yoga is also 'Tantra Reborn', giving rebirth to the tantric tradition known as Kashmir Shaivism through a wholly new understanding of its sexual symbolism and of 'tantric sex' - seen not merely as a heightening or spiritual elevation of bodily sex, but as an expression of the sublime sensuality and divine sexuality of the soul and its body. 'Tantra Reborn' explains in detail the anatomy, nature and powers of the soul body, its relation to gender and sexuality, to tantric initiation and to the traditional tantric symbolism of 'Shiva-Shakti' and 'Kundalini'. It also offers a practical guide to experiencing the bliss of soul body intercourse through new and original forms of tantric pair and partner meditation.

Book Heidegger Phenomenology and Indian Thought

Download or read book Heidegger Phenomenology and Indian Thought written by Peter Wilberg and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Being is no longer the essential matter to be thought." Martin Heidegger Western thought clings to the notion that consciousness is essentially both 'intentional' (awareness of something) and the private property of an egoic 'subject'. It has no concept of a Universal Awareness or 'Absolute Subjectivity' of the sort that Indian thought has long understood as the source of all individualised consciousness. Yet in the language of Martin Heidegger we find words such as 'The Open' or 'The Illuminating Clearing', which suggest a primordial 'space' or 'light' of awareness - one that is the condition for any consciousness of things, and is not the private property of any being, body, brain or 'ego'. Heidegger, Phenomenology and Indian Thought explores in an original way the proximity of this language to those schools of Indian thought which recognise a pure, universal and 'non-intentional' dimension of consciousness - an Awareness (Chit) prior to and transcending 'Being' itself (Sat).

Book Heidegger Medicine scientific Method

Download or read book Heidegger Medicine scientific Method written by Peter Wilberg and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of Heidegger, Medicine and 'Scientific Method' is to ensure that the profound implications of the Zollikon Seminars Heidegger held for doctors and psychiatrists do not remain unheeded. In one short volume Peter Wilberg concisely summarises Heidegger's fundamental critique of 'scientific method', redefines the basic principles of the 'phenomenological method' and lays out the foundations of a new 'phenomenological' approach to medicine - one which understands that illnesses have meanings not 'causes'. Grounded in Heidegger's fundamental distinction between the physical body (Körper) and the 'lived' or 'felt' body (Leib), phenomenological medicine offers a highly practical and therapeutic understanding of the relation between a patient's clinical disease 'pathology' and the felt 'dis-ease' or pathos that it embodies.

Book The Science Delusion

Download or read book The Science Delusion written by Peter Wilberg and published by . This book was released on 2008-06 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Science Delusion offers a counterpart to the wave of aggressive anti-religionism exemplified by Richard Dawkins' 'scientific' critique of The God Delusion. Its aim is not to defend any specific religious faiths, but to show how what we call 'science' is as much based on irrational and dogmatically unquestioned beliefs as the most 'fundamentalist' religion. By cutting through the common myths and delusions that make up our idea of 'science', as well as those that science itself is founded upon, philosopher Peter Wilberg lays down a 'heretical' challenge to the quasi-religious authority that the modern scientific world-view wields in today's globalised Western media and culture. In contrast to the unthinking debate between secular atheists and religious theists, he argues that the question of God's reality does not depend on the existence or non-existence of a supreme being 'with' consciousness - but can be answered through a new understanding of God as consciousness.

Book Dark Laughter Ii

Download or read book Dark Laughter Ii written by Eve Halloway and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2012-11-07 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Psychic sex abuse is enabled by remote viewing and visualization. Called remote influencing, it is practiced by military operatives. Also, an object can be embued with psychic energy, called human psychotronic energy, and be used as a weapon. When it is used for a sexual attack, it is very painful. The attack leaves the victim shattered, but it leaves no scars, so there is no legal recourse. In addition to psychic abuse this book contains information previously in the Sci-Fi category. Well, not so much now, folks. Theres information about all kinds of other psychic phenomena, psychic warfare, EM pulse weapons, the real story on those lights over Pheonix, why the ETs are here, the so-called alien abductions, the military and ETs, talking trees, bees that listen, the consciousness of machines, and much more. This book, like my previous book, Dark Laughter: Portrait of a Psychic Sex Relationship, is about my experiences with psychic sex and psychic abuse. But it contains far more information on the paranormal and-gulp-its link with quantum physics than did the first book. I freely indulged my fascination for secrets and brought them to you in this book.

Book Popular Culture in Europe since 1800

Download or read book Popular Culture in Europe since 1800 written by Tobias Becker and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-09-28 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells the story of the history of popular culture in Europe since 1800, providing a framework which challenges traditional associations that have formulated popular culture firmly in relation to the post-1945 period and the economic power of the USA. Focusing on key themes associated with modernity – secularisation, industrialisation, social cohesion and control, globalisation and technological change – this synthesis of research across a very wide field fills a gap that has long been felt by students and educators working in the field of popular culture. While it is organised as a history of cultural forms, it can also be used across a wide range of social science and humanities programmes, including media and cultural studies, literary studies, sociology and European studies. Covering the subject with a broad number of themes, this book discusses popular culture through visual culture and performance, games, music, film, television and video games. Popular Culture in Europe since 1800 will be of interest to anyone looking for an engaged but concise overview of how book production and reading practices, visual cultures, music, performance and sports and games developed across Europe in the modern period.

Book From New Age to New Gnosis

Download or read book From New Age to New Gnosis written by Peter Wilberg and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Peter Wilberg presents a political history of the subversive 'gnostic' theologies of the first century, and with it, a theo-political critique of the ruling god-concepts of the 21st century. 'From New Age to New Gnosis' is spiritual Marxism and a powerful spearhead aimed at the 'New World Order' of economic 'liberalism', neo-conservatism and military imperialism. It challenges all four faces of its famous dollar pyramid - the 'i-dollartry' of new technologies, the reduction of the human being to a genetic machine, the politically illiterate platitudes of New Age 'spirituality' - and the spiritual illiterate 'literalism' of Christian biblical fundamentalism and racist Zionazism - which now see their own zealotry mirrored and confronted by militant Islam. What Peter Wilberg's recognises is that what our divided world now calls for is not a revival of fundamentalisms of any sort but a New Gnostic spirituality that understands the "wordless knowledge within the word" (Seth).

Book Tantric Wisdom for Today s World The New Yoga of Awareness

Download or read book Tantric Wisdom for Today s World The New Yoga of Awareness written by Peter Wilberg and published by Exposure Publishing. This book was released on 2007 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Tantric Tradition known as 'Kashmir Shaivism' bore within it the understanding that God is not a being 'with' awareness. Instead God is awareness, pure and unbounded. This pure awareness is like a stainless mirror - invisible in itself - in which all experienced realities are not only reflected but actively and continuously manifested. The New Yoga of Awareness is not merely a commentary on or an explanation of this tradition, but the most comprehensive and original contribution to it since its synthesis by the great 10th century teacher and tantric adept Abhinavagupta. It unites religion, science, philosophy and theology, psychology and metaphysics in a way that truly makes it not just 'a' new yoga but THE New Yoga - an entirely new school of 'tantra' evolved from and for today's world. Tantra does not separate religion and science. It is yogic religious science. The aim of The New Yoga is to make this new and highly practical religious science known to the world in order that it can begin to work for it. It does so by challenging the foundations of both Western science and the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam), along with the "monotheism of money" (Marx) and the godless 'science' that is its religion. Peter Wilberg's wide-ranging writings on tantra, introduced in this book, constitute a new and highly practical body of theosophical and religious scientific knowledge of the sort that alone can help bring an end to today's rising ocean of religious and scientific ignorance - and to the ecological devastation, economic inequalities and global mayhem that go with it. Above all, they offer a way of accomplishing this world-transforming aim - not through jihad, violence or war but through learning to experience that pure and Divine Awareness ('Shiva') which pervades all things, and the Divine Power ('Shakti') of Awareness that manifests them all.

Book Head Heart and Hara

Download or read book Head Heart and Hara written by Peter Wilberg and published by . This book was released on 2003-06 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ancient Daoist saying tells us "When you are sick, do not seek a cure. Find your centre and you will be healed." The centre it refers to is located deep in the sensed interiority of our belly, that abode of the soul known in Japanese as hara. 'Depression' (a word with no equivalent in Japanese) is, in essence, a lack of hara. With hara awareness we not only recontact our own innermost soul depths and soul centre. We learn to make contact with others from that centre - to experience true intimacy of soul. Hara awareness is both an alternative to medical and psychiatric 'cures' and the basis for a genuinely psychological medicine - an anatomy of the soul-body. Head, Heart and Hara contrasts the head- and heart-centred culture of the West with the hara culture of Japan. It also shows how hara awareness can unite the primordial wisdom of both East and West. Peter Wilberg brings together the dao of Lao Tse and the logos of Heraclitus in a new spiritual anatomy of the soul and its body.

Download or read book Hidden Dimensions written by B. Alan Wallace and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2010-02-22 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: B. Alan Wallace introduces a natural theory of human consciousness that has its roots in contemporary physics and Buddhism. Wallace's "special theory of ontological relativity" suggests that mental phenomena are conditioned by the brain, but do not emerge from it. Rather, the entire natural world of mind and matter, subjects and objects, arises from a unitary dimension of reality. Wallace employs the Buddhist meditative practice of samatha to test his hypothesis, creating a kind of telescope to examine the space of the mind. He then proposes a more general theory in which the participatory nature of reality is envisioned as a self-excited circuit. In comparing these ideas to the Buddhist theory known as the Middle Way philosophy, Wallace explores further aspects of his "general theory of ontological relativity," which can be investigated through vipasyana, or insight, meditation. He then focuses on the theme of symmetry in quantum cosmology and the "problem of frozen time," relating these issues to the theory and practices of the Great Perfection school of Tibetan Buddhism. He concludes with a discussion of complementarity as it relates to science and religion.

Book Buddhist and Taoist Systems Thinking

Download or read book Buddhist and Taoist Systems Thinking written by Josep M. Coll and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-07-13 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Buddhist and Taoist Systems Thinking explores a radical new conception of business and management. It is grounded on the reconnection of humans with nature as the new competitive advantage for living organizations and entrepreneurs that aspire to regenerate the economy and drive a positive impact on the planet, in the context of the Anthropocene. Organizations today struggle in finding a balance between maximizing profits and generating value for their stakeholders, the environment and the society at large. This happens in a paradigm shift characterized by unprecedented levels of exponential change and the emergence of disruptive technologies. Adaptability, thus, is becoming the new business imperative. How can, then, entrepreneurs and organizations constantly adapt and, at the same time, design the sustainable futures they’d like? This book uniquely explores the benefits of applying Buddhist and Taoist Systems Thinking to sustainable management. Grounded in Taoist and Zen Buddhist philosophies, it offers a modern scientific perspective fundamentally based on the concepts of bio-logical adaptability and lifefulness amidst complexity and constant change. The book introduces the new concept of the Gaia organization as a living organism that consciously helps perpetuate the conditions for life on the planet. It is subject to the natural laws of transformation and the principles of oneness, emptiness, impermanence, balance, self-regulation and harmonization. Readers will find applied Eastern systems theories such as the Yin-Yang and the Five Elements operationalized through practical methodologies and tools such as T-Qualia and the Zen Business model. They are aimed at guiding Gaia organizations and entrepreneurs in leading sustainable transformations and qualifying economic growth. The book offers a vital toolkit for purpose-driven practitioners, management researchers, students, social entrepreneurs, evaluators and change-makers to reinvent, create and mindfully manage sustainable and agile organizations that drive systemic transformation.
