Book Sustainable Organic Agriculture for Developing Agribusiness Sector

Download or read book Sustainable Organic Agriculture for Developing Agribusiness Sector written by Nikola Puvača and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-08-18 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developing sustainable organic agriculture and resilient agribusiness sector is fundamental, keeping in mind the value of the opportunity presented by the growing demand for healthy and safe food globally, with the expectation for the global population to reach 9.8 billion by 2050, and 11 billion by 2100. Lately, the main threats in Europe, and worldwide, are the increasingly dynamic climate change and economic factors related to currency fluctuations. While the current environmental policy provides several mechanisms to support agribusinesses in mitigating organic food for daily increasing human population and stability of the currency, it does not contemplate the relative readiness of individuals and businesses to act correctly. Organic farming is the practice that relies more on using sustainable methods to cultivate crops and produce food animals, avoiding chemicals and dietary synthetic drug inputs that do not belong to the natural ecosystem. Organic agriculture can also contribute to meaningful socioeconomic, ecologically sustainable development, and significantly in the development of the agribusiness sector, especially in developing countries.

Book Public Sector Pay and Regional Competitiveness

Download or read book Public Sector Pay and Regional Competitiveness written by Carlo Dell'Aringa and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper investigates regional public-private wage differentials in Italy. Following the recent wave of reforms that significantly changed wage setting and employment relations in both sectors - increasing decentralization in collective bargaining and enforcing a privatization of public sector employment contracts - we present new estimates of the public-private wage gap by geographical location. We report both standardised public-private wage differentials, as well as estimates obtained using Geographically Weighted Regressions methods. We show that significant differences exist in public-private wage differentials across Italian regions, and that the latter can be partly explained by local labour market conditions affecting the private sector and only marginally the public sector. Differences in public-private wage differentials across regions are expected to determine several imbalances in terms of quot;waitquot; unemployment and recruitment problems in the different areas.

Book Exploring Job Satisfaction in Private and Public Employment

Download or read book Exploring Job Satisfaction in Private and Public Employment written by Michael Demoussis and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper analyses subjective job satisfaction (JS) responses by employees in the public and private sectors of the Greek labour market. Panel data covering the period 1995-2001 and a random effects ordered probit model are used for estimation purposes. The results of the econometric estimation show that a substantial JS differential exists between the two sectors, in every JS domain and always in favour of public employment. A typical ordered decomposition analysis indicates that about one-third of the difference in expected JS can be explained by differences in employee characteristics and two-thirds by unobserved sector-specific inbuilt features. The comparison of wage reductions, which a representative employee will be prepared to endure in order to avoid employment in the private sector, reveals that the regularity of working schedules is appreciated more than any other facet of JS. The obtained results enhance the existing apparatus for evaluating government policies in the labour market.
