Book The Properties of Hydroxyapatite and Titanium Oxide Coatings Obtained by Suspension Plasma Spraying

Download or read book The Properties of Hydroxyapatite and Titanium Oxide Coatings Obtained by Suspension Plasma Spraying written by Roman Jaworski and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Suspension Plasma Spraying of Functional Gradient Coatings

Download or read book Suspension Plasma Spraying of Functional Gradient Coatings written by Rafal Tomaszek and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The thesis aims at development of titanium oxide and hydroxyapatite coatings with the use of suspension plasma spraying. This new technique enables obtaining the coatings with very fine crystal grains being smaller than 100 nm (nanostructured). To attain this objective, two type of suspension feeder were developed: (i) with a pressurized vessel and, (ii) with two peristaltic pumps. The suspension were formulated using very fine pigment, surfactant and distilled water. The spraying process was optimized to obtain continuous coatings having thickness ranging from 5 to 25 μm. The coatings microstructure was tested using X-ray photelectrons spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Xray diffraction, optical and scanning electron microscope. Electron emission from the surface of titania sprayed coatings was also tested and explained by the microstructure. This coating were prepared with a gradient of crystal grain size by spraying initially coarse powder deposit and, on the top, suspension sprayed one: Hydroxyapatite deposits were sprayed staring from suspension formulated from crushing of spray-dried powder. This coatings were realized using a gradient of chemical composition by simultaneous deposition of titania suspension. Titania coatings were chosen in order to improve adhesion to metallic titanium substrate.

Book Study on the Electrical and Mechanical Properties of Plasma Sprayed Titanium Oxide Coatings

Download or read book Study on the Electrical and Mechanical Properties of Plasma Sprayed Titanium Oxide Coatings written by Robert Fontarnau Lynd and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Titanium oxide is a material that changes its physical properties due to the formation of oxygen vacancies in the crystal lattice. This phenomenon is especially observed in the plasma spray process. The lattice defects in the consolidated coating material strongly determine its mechanical (tribological) and electrical properties. The crystalline phases that are formed in the coating (anatase, rutile) have also to be taken into account. In his study the electrical properties of plasma sprayed titanium oxides will be investigated. The influence of plasma spray parameters will be studied by means of DOE, two different plasma spray systems will be used: A standard DC single cathode torch (F6, GTV) and a three cathode torch (type MAGNUM, GTV). The coatings will be characterized using standard analytical tools (XRD, SEM, LM, microhardness, electrical conductivity etc.) A potential industrial application of titanium oxide coating is its use as an electrical conductive material applied on glass ceramic substrates. Some basic parameter studies considering torch kinematic will be performed to improve mechanical stability of such coatings on the glass ceramic substrate. Another interesting approach is the mixing of titanium oxide with a Ni-CrAIY powder to form a composite powder. The idea is to increase the electrical conductivity, but keep the thermomechanical properties of the oxide material.
