Book excerpt: You are not giving them up. You are saving them. You have my word that I will see they are safe. At wars end, I will reunite you. I promise. A Holocaust story unlike any youve read before. When Yanusz Dov vows to protect the family of his Jewish friend, Kalman Gold during the Nazi occupation of Poland, he is drawn into a saga that spans three generations and three continents. Yanusz stages a daring rescue from a concentration camp, hides the escapees from relentless Nazi hunters, and risks his own family, church, and life in order to keep Kalman, his wife, and his twin children safe. After betrayal and the cruel realities of the occupation shatter the family ties, one of the twins finds a new home in America, while the other is lost without a trace. Separated by thousands of miles, brother and sister struggle for survival, unaware that their fates are still bound together. Throughout it all, Yanusz must rely on courage and faith to repay his childhood debt and fulfill his lifelong promise. The events in this story are timeless and will touch the heart of every reader. "From the ashes of the holocaust, a gripping, powerful tale of love, loss, and redemption." "Certainly, a masterpiece novel portraying dramatic, though authentic, events from the holocaust epoch that are brilliantly intertwined with fiction." -- New York Times best-selling author, Michael Levin

Book The Promises of Giants

Download or read book The Promises of Giants written by John Amaechi and published by Nicholas Brealey. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "THE MOST UNLIKELY OF PEOPLE, IN THE MOST IMPROBABLE OF CIRCUMSTANCES, CAN BECOME EXTRAORDINARY." WE NEED MORE LEADERS. From socio-political chaos and workplace disruption to the climate change crisis, we have never needed people with the skill and will to collaborate to create a better world more than now. We need people who are willing to fill the leadership void. People who will embrace the influence they have. People who believe in improving society and workplace culture - not only because it makes life better, but because it is proven to yield positive results. The Promises of Giants is a challenge to anyone who aspires to make a difference in their environment. Over fourteen promises, it seamlessly intertwines personal anecdotes and workplace and social observation with the latest research, to provide practical, proven tips and strategies to empower you to maximize your own potential and inspire others. It is not a self-help book. It is a how-to guide for winning, rooted in the belief that the most unlikely of people, in the most improbable of circumstances, can become extraordinary. John Amaechi well understands the responsibilities and potential that come with being a giant. The Promises of Giants is the product of a lifetime spent observing and studying effective leadership - from accompanying his mother's visits to her dying patients to competing at the highest levels of professional sport, through two decades of management consulting with multinational corporations. These experiences have shown that everyone has the ability to act decisively to influence the world in a positive way. Everyone is a giant to someone.

Book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 7

Download or read book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 7 written by Spurgeon, Charles and published by Delmarva Publications, Inc.. This book was released on 2015-02-24 with total page 1234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 7 Sermons 348-426 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to republish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Book excerpt: Max Lucado's first book that journeys from the birth of Christ to His resurrection. Drawing from his classic writing on Jesus combined with new reflections and breathtaking art, Max Lucado again opens our eyes—and hearts—to the life and work of the Savior in a way that will change lives forever. “Jesus was, at once, common and not; alternately normal and heroic. One minute blending in with the domino players in the park, the next commanding the hell out of madmen, disease out of the dying, and death out of the dead.” Who was this man who spoke as easily with kids and fishermen as widows and waves? It is the question that has echoed down through the centuries to us today, and here is a visually stunning book that answers aspects of that question.
