Book Mobile and Wireless Communications Networks

Download or read book Mobile and Wireless Communications Networks written by Elizabeth M. Belding-Royer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-08-17 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs) has attracted great research interest in recent years. A Mobile Ad Hoc Network is a self-organizing multi-hop wireless network where all hosts (often called nodes) participate in the routing and data forwarding process. The dependence on nodes to relay data packets for others makes mobile ad hoc networks extremely susceptible to various malicious and selfish behaviors. This point is largely overlooked during the early stage of MANET research. Many works simply assume nodes are inherently cooperative and benign. However, experiences from the wired world manifest that the reverse is usually true; and many works [3] [10] [9] [8] [12] [19] have pointed out that the impact of malicious and selfish users must be carefully investigated. The goal of this research is to address the cooperation problem and related security issues in wireless ad hoc networks. As a rule of thumb, it is more desirable to include security mechanisms in the design phase rather than continually patching the system for security breaches. As pointed out in [2] [1], there can be both selfish and malicious nodes in a mobile ad hoc network. Selfish nodes are most concerned about their energy consumption and intentionally drop packets to save power. The purpose of malicious nodes, on the other hand, is to attack the network using various intrusive techniques. In general, nodes in an ad hoc network can exhibit Byzantine behaviors.

Book Variation Principle in Informational Macrodynamics

Download or read book Variation Principle in Informational Macrodynamics written by Vladimir S. Lerner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information Macrodynamics (IMD) belong to an interdisciplinary science that represents a new theoretical and computer-based methodology for a system informational descriptionand improvement, including various activities in such areas as thinking, intelligent processes, communications, management, and other nonphysical subjects with their mutual interactions, informational superimposition, and theinformation transferredbetweeninteractions. The IMD is based on the implementation of a single concept by a unique mathematical principle and formalism, rather than on an artificial combination of many arbitrary, auxiliary concepts and/or postulates and different mathematical subjects, such as the game, automata, catastrophe, logical operations theories, etc. This concept is explored mathematically using classical mathematics as calculus of variation and the probability theory, which are potent enough, without needing to developnew, specifiedmathematical systemicmethods. The formal IMD model automatically includes the related results from other fields, such as linear, nonlinear, collective and chaotic dynamics, stability theory, theory of information, physical analogies of classical and quantum mechanics, irreversible thermodynamics, andkinetics. The main IMD goal is to reveal the information regularities, mathematically expressed by the considered variation principle (VP), as a mathematical tool to extractthe regularities and define the model, whichdescribes theregularities. The IMD regularities and mechanisms are the results of the analytical solutions and are not retained by logical argumentation, rational introduction, and a reasonable discussion. The IMD's information computer modeling formalism includes a human being (as an observer, carrier and producer ofinformation), with a restoration of the model during the objectobservations.

Book Advanced Wireless Networks

Download or read book Advanced Wireless Networks written by Savo G. Glisic and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-08-08 with total page 848 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third edition of this popular reference covers enabling technologies for building up 5G wireless networks. Due to extensive research and complexity of the incoming solutions for the next generation of wireless networks it is anticipated that the industry will select a subset of these results and leave some advanced technologies to be implemented later,. This new edition presents a carefully chosen combination of the candidate network architectures and the required tools for their analysis. Due to the complexity of the technology, the discussion on 5G will be extensive and it will be difficult to reach consensus on the new global standard. The discussion will have to include the vendors, operators, regulators as well as the research and academic community in the field. Having a comprehensive book will help many participants to join actively the discussion and make meaningful contribution to shaping the new standard.

Book Advances in Wireless Networks

Download or read book Advances in Wireless Networks written by Geyong Ming and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent years have witnessed tremendous growth in the population of mobile users demanding high performance, reliability and quality-of-service (QoS). Wireless networks are undergoing rapid developments and dramatic changes in the underlying technologies, in order to cope with the difficulties posed by the scarce wireless resource as well as keep up with the increasing day-to-day demand for cost-effective service of multimedia applications. Predicting and optimising the performance and QoS of wireless networks using analytical modelling, simulation experiments, monitoring and testbed-based measurements are crucial to the proper design, tuning, resource management and capacity planning of such networks. This book is dedicated to review important developments and results, explore recent state-of-the-art research and discuss new strategies for performance modelling, analysis and enhancement of wireless networks. The objective is to make analytical modelling, simulation and measurement tools, and innovative performance evaluation methodology possible and understandable to a wider audience.

Book Context Aware Pervasive Systems

Download or read book Context Aware Pervasive Systems written by Seng Loke and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2006-12-07 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of aware systems is among the most exciting trends in computing today, fueled by recent developments in pervasive computing, including new computers worn by users, embedded devices, smart appliances, sensors, and varieties of wireless networking technology. Context-Aware Pervasive Systems: The Architecture of a New Breed of Applications introduces a diverse set of application areas and provides blueprints for building context-aware behavior into applications. Reviewing the anatomy of context-aware pervasive applications, this resource covers abstract architecture. It examines mobile services, appliances, smart devices, software agents, electronic communication, sensor networks, security frameworks, and intelligent software agents. The book also discusses the use of context awareness for communication among people, devices, and software agents and how sensors can be aware of their own situations. Exploring the use of physical context for controlling and enhancing security in pervasive computing environments, this guide addresses mirror worlds and elucidates design perspectives based on a declarative programming language paradigm. This carefully paced volume presents a timely and relevant introduction to the emergence of context-aware systems and brings together architectures and principles of context-aware computing in one source.

Book E Commerce and Web Technologies

Download or read book E Commerce and Web Technologies written by Kurt Bauknecht and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2002-08-21 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Third International Conference on E-commerce and Web Technology (EC-Web 2002) was held in conjunction with the DEXA 02 in Aix-en-Provence, France. This conference, first held in Greenwich, United Kingdom in 2000, is now in its third year and is very well established. As in the two previous years, it served as a forum bringing together researchers from academia and commercial developers from industry to discuss the current state of the art in E-commerce and web technology. Inspirations and new ideas emerged from intensive discussions during formal sessions and social events. Keynote addresses, research presentations, and discussions during the conference helped to further develop the exchange of ideas among the researchers, developers, and practitioners who attended. The conference attracted more than 100 submissions and each paper was reviewed by at least three program committee members. The program committee selected 40 papers for presentation and publication, a task which was not easy due to the high quality of the submitted papers. We would like to express our thanks to our colleagues who helped to put together the technical program: the program committee members and external reviewers for their timely and rigorous reviews of the papers, and the organizing committee for their help in the administrative work and support. We owe special thanks to Gabriela Wagner and Maria Schweikert for always being available when their helping hand was needed.
