Book Workplace Abuse Incivility and Bullying

Download or read book Workplace Abuse Incivility and Bullying written by Maryam Omari and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-10-05 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book bridges an existing gap in the literature relating to the study of workplace abuse, incivility and bullying. It provides broad perspectives to capture some of the diversity associated with the study of (negative) human behaviours using different methodological approaches, and in different cultural contexts. Studies in the area have grown in leaps and bounds over the last few decades. As we come to know more about the nature of these adverse behaviours, the reasons they happen, and the impact they have on individuals and beyond, new gaps in knowledge emerge. On one hand the paucity of research is assisting in better understanding and management of these negative behaviours, on another, generalised information without an appreciation of the context in which the behaviours unfold may be detrimental to the cause, especially given a globalised and multicultural world. Workplace Abuse, Incivility and Bullying presents findings from under-researched methodological, and unique cultural perspectives. Such an approach will allow us to gain deep insights into the diversity and complexities associated with perceiving, being subjected to, and experiencing negative behaviours at work. The book has applicability across a broad range of audience from academics through to practitioners, and even victims and suspected perpetrators.

Book Durians Are Not the Only Fruit

Download or read book Durians Are Not the Only Fruit written by Wong Yoon Wah and published by Epigram Books. This book was released on 2013 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this mix of memoir, essay and nature writing, Wong Yoon Wah evokes the beauty and seduction of the tropical rainforest and rubber plantations of his childhood in Malaya. He examines what surrounds us: the fruits we grow, the food we eat, the trees and animals that thrive in our midst. Along the way, we gain fascinating insights: how thunder tea rice acquired its name; how early settlers used the rain tree to tell time; how the behaviour of ants can tell us when a monsoon is about to arrive. Both personal and informative, this selection of Wong’s essays is a stunning re-addition to the creative non-fiction landscape.

Book Travels in the Land of Hunger

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the spring of 2004 - after living in Tokyo, Japan, for over three years pursuing a career as a freelance musician - science fiction and fantasy author Domenico Italo Composto-Hart set off on a half-year backpacking journey through the lands of East and Southeast Asia, Siberia, Central Russia, the Baltic states, the Nordic countries, and Eastern and Western Europe. Traveling by foot, bus, train, and boat - and seeing the world through the analytical lens of anthropology, archaeology, and economics - Domenico documents, researches, and deciphers the developing nations he encounters as they rise through the turbulence of unregulated Western capitalism and globalization. Travels in the Land of Hunger is the author's reflective account of the dark, long-lasting impact of Western colonialism and imperialism, the Vietnam War, the Khmer Rouge regime, the 1997 Asian financial crisis, and the sex tourism and sex trafficking industries in Southeast and East Asia. It is also a narrative of finding exotic beauty, inspiration, inner strength, and unexpected love.
