Book The Price She Pays

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two experts in mental health and sport lift the veil on the crisis in women’s athletics, offering parents and coaches urgently needed advice and support and showing how female athletes can find joy in whatever sport they choose, at whatever level they compete. No matter the sport, the message to girls and women is the same: Be aggressive, but not too aggressive. Win at all costs, but be polite while doing it. Get strong, but not too big. Female athletes have long been conditioned to perform under these standards, gracefully and without complaints. Yet, behind the scenes, female athletes are suffering from disordered eating and substance use; depression and anxiety; emotional and sexual abuse; racism and discrimination; self-harm, and even suicide ideation. When global tennis star Naomi Osaka and gymnastics world champion Simone Biles took breaks from competing to tend to their mental health, many were compelled to ask: What is causing this mental health crisis in women’s sports? In The Price She Pays, Katie Steele and Dr. Tiffany Brown illuminate where we are going wrong—and how we can correct course. Through first-hand accounts, research, and reporting, they reveal the deep layers of trauma and mistreatment women experience in their pursuit of excellence in sport. They show parents, coaches, and athletes how to recognize the signs of mistreatment and mental health issues, and reveal how, by focusing on the wellbeing of the whole person—not just the athlete—we can provide women and girls with the support they need to thrive, in whatever sport they choose, at whatever level they compete.

Book Ree s Chronicles The Price I Paid For A Cup Of Sugar

Download or read book Ree s Chronicles The Price I Paid For A Cup Of Sugar written by Marie Florence and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2017-07-18 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Price I Paid for a Cup of Sugar is being told by a young woman locked up in a mental institution from having an emotional breakdown caused by heartbreak in her life. The Price I Paid for a Cup of Sugar is just the beginning of Ree's Chronicles, which are true events based on a little girl growing up in a big family feeling unnoticed, unloved, and unappreciated until the time she gave her life to Jesus. Ree was a lost and was a broken down young girl, who had been raped at the tender age of twelve and managed somehow to fall in love with the man who raped her and continued to have sex with her for four years after until one day she realized that it wasn't love she was in; it was a traumatic state of mind she had covered up all those years. Laying in the hospital bed at Arden Hill Behavioral Health is where God revealed to her his plan to save this woman and the reason she had gone through so much in life. One reason was out of disobedience to God and the second was so I can live to help other women survive being molested, raped, abused, heartbroken, and many other situations that some women go through in life. God told me to put it on paper, and he would do the rest. I spent seven days lying in the hospital, praying and reading God's word, asking God, "Why me?" And he said, "Just put it on paper, Ree, and I will do the rest." I didn't understand until I got home from the hospital and about 2:00 a.m. the next morning, I began to write down things, and I have not stopped-yet.

Book Foundational Principles of Contract Law

Download or read book Foundational Principles of Contract Law written by Melvin A. Eisenberg and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-09-20 with total page 905 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foundational Principles of Contract Law not only sets out the principles and rules of contract law, it places more emphasis on what the principles and rules of contract law should be, based on policy, morality, and experience. A major premise of the book is that the best way to grasp contract law is to understand it from a critical perspective as an organic, dynamic subject. When contract law is approached in this way it is much easier to grasp and learn than when it is presented simply as a static collection of principles and rules. Professor Eisenberg covers almost all areas of contract law, including the enforceability of promises, remedies for breach of contract, problems of assent, form contracts, the effect of mistake and changed circumstances, interpretation, and problems of performance. Although the emphasis of the book is on the principles and rules of contract law, it also covers important theories in contract law, such as the theory of efficient breach, the theory of overreliance, the normative theory of contracts, formalism, and theories of contract interpretation.

Book excerpt: A collection of Rebecca West’s early journalistic writings reveals her clarity of mind, severity of wit, and relevancy in today’s modern world In this collection of early writings, beginning when Rebecca West was just eighteen years old, Jane Marcus sheds light on one of the foremost feminist and political thinkers of our time. West’s essays, reviews, and public correspondence tackle many subjects, including politics, suffrage, education, morality and ethics, the arts, and social figures of the day. Her writings offer a glimpse of the real Rebecca—not some stuffy suffragette, but a vibrant, funny, provocative, and brilliant woman whose determined pen strokes outwit her contemporaries and remain inspiring today. A feminist to the core, West parried with her readers, other writers, and a culture slow to accept change. This ebook features an illustrated biography of Rebecca West featuring rare photos and never-before-seen documents from the Department of Special Collections and University Archives, McFarlin Library, at the University of Tulsa.
