Book The Power of True Forgiveness We Took an Oath

Download or read book The Power of True Forgiveness We Took an Oath written by Suzette Grant Walker and published by Tamarind Hill Press Limited. This book was released on 2020-02-07 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Power of True Forgiveness deals with forgiveness based on God’s Word and not man’s perception. Many people have misconstrued the power of forgiveness, but I have learned that there is much power in letting go of hurt rather than holding on to it. I now know that forgiveness is a process that is necessary and beneficial to the offended as much as to the offender. This is my story of dealing with infidelity, letting go of unforgiveness, and accepting a child my husband had outside of our marriage as my own. In this book, I open up about the challenges I faced and how I got to where I am today - a place of true freedom. I lay myself bare so that those who are facing the same challenges can find hope in not only knowing that God can deliver them from unforgiveness but that it is okay to fight for their marriage. “We took an Oath,” on our wedding day and with God, we can forgive each other the mistakes made and move on together with renewed hope. “I was free, healed, and delivered. Now I am completely healed.” Suzette Grant-Walker

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The two Books of Homilies, along with the Book of Common Prayer and the Ordinal, have long been basic documents of the Church of England, and are valuable in showing how Anglican doctrine shifted during the Reformation, as well as being of considerable historical importance. The first book, published in 1547, early in the reign of Edward VI, was partly, though not entirely, the work of Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, and the inspiration appears to have been his. This was intended to raise the standards of preaching by offering model ser mons covering particular doctrinal and pastoral themes, either to be read (particularly by unlicensed clergy) or to provide preachers with additional material for their own sermons. The success of the venture led Bishop EdmundBonner, who had contributed to Cranmer's book, to produce his own Book of Homilies in 1555, during the reign of Queen Mary. The Second Book of Homilies, published in 1563 (and in a revised form in 1571) appears in turn to have been influenced by both Cranmer's and Bonner's books. The present edition brings together all three books, edited and introduced by Revd Dr Gerald Bray.

Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.
