Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you have ever asked questions like What is reality? What do we actually know for sure? What is the truth? What is life?(other than just the name of a magazine that was published for many years), then these ramblings will be of interest. These ramblings offer a unique personal view of human life that engages the reader in an eclectic mix of four diverse points of view. Using a stream of consciousness-type style, the author draws on his reflection about his need for human connection; his passion for the creative arts, including music, literature, and painting; his understanding of human physiology, mental health, philosophy, science, and Buddhist thinking; and his experiences with sailing, individual competitive sports, and coaching. The work is divided into two sections. The first simply leads the reader through a labyrinth of symbols, facts, and perceptions that led to an essential beginning and end, where all is one and one is all. The second section offers some strategies for developing self-awareness and experiencing life differently. The object of the exercise of reading, thinking, reflecting, and possibly making notes to become more connected by being disconnected, by being the same but different, and by fitting by not fitting.

His pacing is 100% him standing over it all with a lit match and a smile, waiting for us to dare him to drop it.”—NPR (Best Books of the Year) He broke the chains. Then he broke the world…. A decade ago Darrow led a revolution, and laid the foundations for a new world. Now he’s an outlaw. Cast out of the very Republic he founded, with half his fleet destroyed, he wages a rogue war on Mercury. Outnumbered and outgunned, is he still the hero who broke the chains? Or will he become the very evil he fought to destroy? In his darkening shadow, a new hero rises. Lysander au Lune, the displaced heir to the old empire, has returned to bridge the divide between the Golds of the Rim and Core. If united, their combined might may prove fatal to the fledgling Republic. On Luna, the embattled Sovereign of the Republic, Virginia au Augustus, fights to preserve her precious demokracy and her exiled husband. But one may cost her the other, and her son is not yet returned. Abducted by enemy agents, Pax au Augustus must trust in a Gray thief, Ephraim, for his salvation. Far across the void, Lyria, a Red refugee accused of treason, makes a desperate bid for freedom with the help of two unlikely new allies. Fear dims the hopes of the Rising, and as power is seized, lost, and reclaimed, the worlds spin on and on toward a new Dark Age. Book excerpt: A haunting southern tale of long-buried family secrets by the New York Times bestselling author of Under the Tuscan Sun and Under Magnolia In her celebrated memoirs of life in Tuscany, Frances Mayes writes masterfully about people in a powerful and shaping place. In Swan, her first novel, she has created an equally intimate world, rich with striking characters and intriguing twists of fate, that hearkens back to her southern roots. The Masons are a prominent but now fragmented family who have lived for generations in Swan, an edenic, hidebound small town in Georgia. As Swan opens, a bizarre crime pulls Ginger Mason home from her life as an archeologist in Italy: The body of her mother, Catherine, a suicide nineteen years before, has been mysteriously exhumed. Reunited on new terms with her troubled, isolated brother J.J., who has never ventured far from Swan, the Mason children grapple with the profound effects of their mother's life and death on their own lives. When a new explanation for Catherine’s death emerges, and other closely guarded family secrets rise to the surface as well, Ginger and J.J. are confronted with startling truths about their family, a particular ordeal in a family and a town that wants to keep the past buried. Beautifully evoking the rhythms and idiosyncrasies of the deep South while telling an utterly compelling story of the complexity of family ties, Swan marks the remarkable fiction debut of one of America’s best-loved writers. Now with an excerpt from Frances Mayes's latest southern memoir, Under Magnolia

Book The Poetry of Sunshine

Download or read book The Poetry of Sunshine written by Sunshine and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hello, this is SunShine, coming at you with wisps and wonderings of poems, all written on pages of tablets in a state mental hospital and typed up on my relatively inexpensive laptop, the one I bought while living in a van, by city parks and the river. Here, within these pages, discover the thoughts of a modern-day diagnosed young woman with bipolar disorder, committed and locked up for hearing a sole sentence of a voice from God, and well, painting all the apartment walls. Bipolar disorder, commonly known as Manic-Depression, is characterized by extreme changes in mood and behavior. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, bipolar disorder affects 2.6% of the population of the United States, approximately 5.7% million adults. Many bipolar people are extremely creative and excel in the performing arts, music, writing, painting, and photography. I suffered through an "episode" to find myself homeless, 1700 miles from my home, and broke, and then committed to the state hospital. Poetry has always been a major form of expression for me, words spilling on paper like water from a faucet. One thing we could do to mark our individuality locked up was write, (and crochet of course). I hope Poems from the Heart of Manic Depression are found to be engrossing and entertaining. Indulge in SunShine Artwork/Photography and the work of contributing photographer Aaron to gladden the eye and lubricate the soul. Gone Scooby with a pallet knife and oils. Sunshine
