Winner of Urania Award 2004 From Mars to the stars: this is the mission of the starship Leonardo da Vinci. Planet after planet, wonders and mysteries came along to reveal a superior design: from a bare world, where powerful winds modeled the rocks into spooky spears and pinnacles, to a planet where hidden artefacts point to other worlds; and to Ambra, the planet with a huge, gigantic marble stairway half a mile wide, ten miles long, six miles high. An invitation to climb it, but with a rule: you can do it only on foot. “I enjoyed Beyond the planet of the wind a lot – it’s a very interesting and intelligent book, with great speculation about deep time and the future of the cosmos” – Alastair Reynolds From one on the best Italian science fiction authors, the Urania Award winning novel that anticipated Interstellar. Paolo Aresi was born in Bergamo, Italy, in 1958. He graduated in Arts and works as a journalist with L’Eco di Bergamo newspaper. He published his first science fiction novel Oberon, l’avamposto fra i ghiacci (“Oberon the Outpost in the Ice”) in 1987. In 1992 he won the Courmayeur Award with the short story Stige. In 1995 he published Toshi si sveglia nel cuore della notte (“Toshi Wakes Up in the Middle of the Night”), a crime novel. In 2004 he won the Urania Award with Oltre il pianeta del vento (Beyond The Planet of the Wind) In the novel Ho pedalato fino alle stelle (2008) he told about his passion for bycicles. A new science fiction novel, the post-apocalyptic L’amore al tempo dei treni perduti (“Love in the Times of Lost Trains”) was published in 2010, and in 2011 Mondadori published Korolev, a tribute to the Chief Designer of the Russian space program.

Book The Dead Peoples Planet

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ruhi Darakshani
  • Publisher : AuthorHouse
  • Release : 2013-04-02
  • ISBN : 1481786733
  • Pages : 123 pages

Download or read book The Dead Peoples Planet written by Ruhi Darakshani and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-04-02 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells of unguessed worlds somewhere in the universe and offers extraordinary scenes of heaven, hell, and prebirth. A US spaceship, manned by a captain and twelve crew members of various backgrounds, nationalities, and gender, sets off on a mission to Mars. Unfortunately, long before it gets there, a sudden, violent, unidentified energy propels it off course to an uncharted location in the vacuum of the cosmos. This unexpected diversion is accompanied by pain, giddiness, and other physical sufferings for the travelers, testing their courage, perseverance, and endurance more than a little. At last, with severe jolting, the ship stops literally in the middle of nowhere, and it stays there. Cut off from Earth and locked up within its space vehicle, the crew is surrounded on every side by saving colors of all shades and shapes. Then, quite lost in time and space, the captives witness three levels of being. One, soon dubbed the Dead Peoples Planet by the voyagers, shows hell itself, a place for punishing sinners and tyrants. Then comes heaven, reserved for good people, who are sustained by spiritual joy. Lastly, the astronauts see a world of prebirth, which is another scenario altogether. In just over ninety pages, the author shows familiarity with diverse worlds, some of which have been heard of but not experienced and some of which turn out unpredictably eventful and extremely exciting. At the same time, the spotlight falls on good, bad, reward, punishment, justice, Gods mercy, and fate. The last crew eventually gets back to Earth after twenty years. But a suspicious court of interrogation inquiries why it thinks it has been away for only one year! The Deadly Peoples Planet is an unusual book that would make an intriguing film.

At a darkened military base hidden in the desert, the crew stumbles upon a mystery of locked doors, disarray, and bloodstained walls. They also recover a dormant laptop, complete with a journal telling of a nightmarish pandemic sweeping across the planet. Where society once rushed to and fro in the fast-paced and unceasing rat race of the early 21st century, the crew of the Aldrin now finds a world that shambles along on a crumbling highway, littered with desperate characters, flesh-craving zombies, and maybe, if they are lucky, a few living survivors.
