Download or read book Las Cruces written by Brian Kord and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2003 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The city of Las Cruces, situated under blue skies in the Chihuahuan desert, boasts a wealth of Native American and Wild West history. As New Mexico's second largest city, it is a modern metropolis that has held fast to its picturesque past. Spanish explorers arrived in the 1500s in search of the Seven Cities of Gold, and after the United States conquered the territory, the area became a transportation hub, blossoming from its adobe beginnings into a permanent, important city. The photographs contained in this volume tell the unique story of this town of contrasts, where historic plazas sit next to modern office buildings and subdivisions sprawl alongside old Indian trails. Many of the original buildings are now restaurants, galleries, and shops, but here readers see them as they once stood, making this book a fascinating reference for those familiar with the city or exploring it for the first time.

Then it all came crashing down. A champion runner, Michael is in college, preparing for a big race, when he finds himself distracted, unable to focus, and then, mid-race he passes out. Not only does Michael lose the race, but he discovers the reason for his fall-unbelievably he has a rare and incurable disease. Devastated by the news, he seeks to forget everything, at least for one night, and drags his best friend Mark out with him to drown his sorrows, only to have the evening end in tragedy when Mark is killed. But for Michael, this is just the beginning of a long and fantastic journey of self-discovery and redemption.

Download or read book The Ten Toe Express A Daily Journal of a 5 000 Mile Hike written by Matt Gregory and published by Ten Toe Publishing . This book was released on 2021-07-19 with total page 909 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the daily journal of Matt Gregory's 5,000 mile hike from Bellingham, Washington to Key West, Florida. He left Bellingham on September 1st, 2006. Author's Note: This book is the unedited journal I kept on the hike. Sometimes I went days without seeing a computer and wrote them in a notebook. Once I finally saw a computer, it was usually a mad dash to update each journal entry in a fixed amount of time at libraries, internet cafes, and people’s houses. I made one pass fixing a few spelling errors but decided to keep everything else as is. To me, it keeps the essence of the journal alive. Most journal entries were written in a hurry while I was tired and pressed for time. Thank you for taking the time out to give this a read. I will finish the memoir soon.
