Book The Physics and Modeling of Mosfets

Download or read book The Physics and Modeling of Mosfets written by Mitiko Miura-Mattausch and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2008 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides a timely description of the latest compact MOS transistor models for circuit simulation. The first generation BSIM3 and BSIM4 models that have dominated circuit simulation in the last decade are no longer capable of characterizing all the important features of modern sub-100nm MOS transistors. This book discusses the second generation MOS transistor models that are now in urgent demand and being brought into the initial phase of manufacturing applications. It considers how the models are to include the complete drift-diffusion theory using the surface potential variable in the MOS transistor channel in order to give one characterization equation.

Third part of the book overviews novel devices and sensors opportunities for such conditions and the closes with papers discussing the perspectives of SOI scaling to nano devices.

Book All Digital Frequency Synthesizer in Deep Submicron CMOS

Download or read book All Digital Frequency Synthesizer in Deep Submicron CMOS written by Robert Bogdan Staszewski and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-09-22 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new and innovative paradigm for RF frequency synthesis and wireless transmitter design Learn the techniques for designing and implementing an all-digital RF frequency synthesizer. In contrast to traditional RF techniques, this innovative book sets forth digitally intensive design techniques that lead the way to the development of low-cost, low-power, and highly integrated circuits for RF functions in deep submicron CMOS processes. Furthermore, the authors demonstrate how the architecture enables readers to integrate an RF front-end with the digital back-end onto a single silicon die using standard ASIC design flow. Taking a bottom-up approach that progressively builds skills and knowledge, the book begins with an introduction to basic concepts of frequency synthesis and then guides the reader through an all-digital RF frequency synthesizer design: Chapter 2 presents a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO), which is the foundation of a novel architecture, and introduces a time-domain model used for analysis and VHDL simulation Chapter 3 adds a hierarchical layer of arithmetic abstraction to the DCO that makes it easier to operate algorithmically Chapter 4 builds a phase correction mechanism around the DCO such that the system's frequency drift or wander performance matches that of the stable external frequency reference Chapter 5 presents an application of the all-digital RF synthesizer Chapter 6 describes the behavioral modeling and simulation methodology used in design The final chapter presents the implementation of a full transmitter and experimental results. The novel ideas presented here have been implemented and proven in two high-volume, commercial single-chip radios developed at Texas Instruments: Bluetooth and GSM. While the focus of the book is on RF frequency synthesizer design, the techniques can be applied to the design of other digitally assisted analog circuits as well. This book is a must-read for students and engineers who want to learn a new paradigm for RF frequency synthesis and wireless transmitter design using digitally intensive design techniques.

Book Fabrication of SiGe HBT BiCMOS Technology

Download or read book Fabrication of SiGe HBT BiCMOS Technology written by John D. Cressler and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SiGe HBT BiCMOS technology is the obvious groundbreaker of the Si heterostructures application space. To date virtually every major player in the communications electronics market either has SiGe up and running in-house or is using someone else’s SiGe fab as foundry for their designers. Key to this success lies in successful integration of the SiGe HBT and Si CMOS, with no loss of performance from either device. Filled with contributions from leading experts, Fabrication of SiGe HBT BiCMOS Technologies brings together a complete discussion of these topics into a single resource. Drawn from the comprehensive and well-reviewed Silicon Heterostructure Handbook, this volume examines the design, fabrication, and application of silicon heterostructure transistors. A novel aspect of this book the inclusion of numerous snapshot views of the industrial state-of-the-art for SiGe HBT BiCMOS technology. It has been carefully designed to provide a useful basis of comparison for the current status and future course of the global industry. In addition to the copious technical material and the numerous references contained in each chapter, the book includes easy-to-reference appendices on the properties of Si and Ge, the generalized Moll-Ross relations, integral charge-control relations, and sample SiGe HBT compact model parameters.

Book Low Power Deep Sub Micron CMOS Logic

Download or read book Low Power Deep Sub Micron CMOS Logic written by P. van der Meer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1. 1 Power-dissipation trends in CMOS circuits Shrinking device geometry, growing chip area and increased data-processing speed performance are technological trends in the integrated circuit industry to enlarge chip functionality. Already in 1965 Gordon Moore predicted that the total number of devices on a chip would double every year until the 1970s and every 24 months in the 1980s. This prediction is widely known as "Moore's Law" and eventually culminated in the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) technology road map [1]. The SIA road map has been a guide for the in dustry leading them to continued wafer and die size growth, increased transistor density and operating frequencies, and defect density reduction. To mention a few numbers; the die size increased 7% per year, the smallest feature sizes decreased 30% and the operating frequencies doubled every two years. As a consequence of these trends both the number of transistors and the power dissi pation per unit area increase. In the near future the maximum power dissipation per unit area will be reached. Down-scaling of the supply voltage is not only the most effective way to reduce power dissipation in general it also is a necessary precondition to ensure device reliability by reducing electrical fields and device temperature, to prevent device degradation. A draw-back of this solution is an increased signal propa gation delay, which results in a lower data-processing speed performance.
