In this facsimile edition Volume 1 contains Lamps 1-3, Volume 2 contains Lamp 4, and Volume 3 contains Lamps 5-7. The Introductory Note that appears in each of the three volumes provides an overview of the contents of The Monument which will help the reader to appreciate the riches of this immense book. Whether the latter in any case introduced wording and spelling of his own, I cannot say, but I think it probable that he did. In the Introduction, the history of the' Inn is continued. The material, and the occasion, for footnotes were alike less than in the case of the previous volume, and they are accordingly fewer in number. I have, however, placed some additional notes in a separate Appendix. Though I have had the advantage of information and suggestions upon several points from members of the Society, and courteous help from brother officials, no defects in the editorial work are to be laid to any one's charge but mine.
