Book The Supreme Being

  • Pages : 146 pages

Download or read book The Supreme Being written by Birinder Bhullar and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2010-03 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I began my quest for the Supreme Being over 2000 years ago. I was a famous conqueror in that life. I loved only one thing then: myself. Life gave me one success after another, and I thought I would conquer eternity. I was seen as the favored of the gods. In the end came the encounter with Truth. I was humbled by death. My eyes opened. I realized there is a Supreme Reality that no one can conquer. I surrendered to it. The quest for the true began in me. I lived many lives after that in this quest. I meditated in complete devotion, spent many hours in introspection, explored the mysteries of Creation, reasoned, surrendered to Great Masters and received guidance and blessings. Finally the Supreme Being revealed itself. I awakened to the Supreme Reality. I found the ultimate freedom and joy. This book was revealed during my experiences with the Supreme Being. The purpose of the book is to reveal about the Supreme Being and the Supreme Reality. It will remind the Self about its original quest. After reading it, no Self can be the same again -- no Self can avoid falling in love with the True Reality. It shares about the true relationship of the Self with the Supreme Being, as well as about the purpose of life, bondage of the mind, the path to experience the Supreme Being, and true living. Knowing the Ultimate has remained the innermost quest of every human being since the beginning: Mystics, Philosophers, Emperors, Kings, Conquerors, Scientists, Explorers and Discoverers all wanted to arrive there. The mind cannot come to rest without this knowledge. Deep within, we seek a heaven. We have imagined it with the ultimate in everything we want: beauty, power, security, knowing, peace, happiness, contentment. We seek to know about it and find a path going there. We wish to experience it while living. We love life. We never want it to end. So we have to live it for the reason we are here. To know it, we have to know The Truth. From a grain of sand, a blade of grass, a drop of water to many distant stars, we have come to know something about the world. We think we will arrive at an ultimate knowing by dividing and microscopically looking into things in the infinitely vast physical Universe. We ignore the fact that this visible Universe is itself an infinitesimal speck in the unknowable vastness beyond. We think we will analyze data, theorize, and understand The Whole, And once we have ultimate knowing we will have power over everything in Creation -- even life and death. But all we are doing is growing a very knowledgeable, confused, complicated, doubtful, disordered, unhappy, discontented, and restless mind. And its center we perceive as our "I." Our present Self-identity is an illusion, and impermanent. Our experience is incomplete because it is relative, partial, and extremely limited. The new reveals itself every day but our Ultimate Truth remains elusive. Why? Because there is one domain we have never entered: the search for our source and our true "I." It is in this realm we will experience what we are actually seeking: spontaneous knowing, uncaused happiness, everlasting identity, and infinite living!

Book Same sex Marriage in the United States

Download or read book Same sex Marriage in the United States written by Jason Pierceson and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2014 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Same-sex marriage has become one of the defining social issues in contemporary U.S. politics. State court decisions finding in favor of same-sex relationship equality claims have been central to the issue's ascent from nowhere to near the top of the national political agenda. Same Sex Marriage in the United States tells the story of the legal and cultural shift, its backlash, and how it has evolved over the past 15 years. This book aids in a classroom examination of the legal, political, and social developments surrounding the issue of same-sex marriage in the United States. While books about same-sex marriage have proliferated in recent years, few, if any, have provided a clear and comprehensive account of the litigation for same-sex marriage, and its successes and failures, as this book does. Updated through 2013, this edition details the watershed rulings in favor of same-sex marriage: the Supreme Court's June 26th repeal of DOMA, and of Proposition 8 in California, as well as the many states (New Jersey, Illinois, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Nevada among others) where activists and public leaders have made recent strides to ensure that gay couples have an equal right to marry.

Book The Supreme Court 4 volumes

Download or read book The Supreme Court 4 volumes written by Paul Finkelman and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2014-01-15 with total page 2279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An insightful, chronological—by chief justice—examination of the Supreme Court that enables students and readers to understand and appreciate the constitutional role the Court plays in American government and society. American citizens need to understand the importance of the Supreme Court in determining how our government and society operates, regardless of whether or not they agree with the Court's opinions. Unfortunately, the role and powers of the third branch of government are not well understood by the American public. After an introduction and overview to the history of the Supreme Court from 1789 to 2013, this book examines the Court's decisions chronologically by Chief Justice, allowing readers to grasp how the role and powers of the Court have developed and shifted over time. The chapters depict the Court as the essential agent of review and an integrated part of the government, regardless of the majority/minority balance on the Court, and of which political party is in the White House or controlling the House or Senate.

Book The Three Principal Aspects of the Path eBook

Download or read book The Three Principal Aspects of the Path eBook written by Lama Tsongkhapa and published by FPMT. This book was released on 2019-11-18 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Three Principal Aspects of the Path is a seminal text by Je Tsongkhapa that describes the three principal aspects of the path—the intention to be free (renunciation), the mind of enlightenment (bodhicitta), and the right view of the wisdom realizing emptiness—how to cultivate them, and how to know when you have realized them. This small text contains the essence of the entire teaching of Lord Buddha. Lama Yeshe said, “In Tibetan, we call this text Lam tso nam sum. Historically, this book derives from Je Tsongkhapa's direct, visual communication with Lord Manjushri. Manjushri gave him this teaching and then Lama Je Tsongkhapa gave it to his disciples.” Translated by Lama Zopa Rinpoche. 2021 edition.
