Download or read book Visions The other way round of Love and Death written by Günter von Hummel and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2021-10-28 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If for love hate and for death life are opposites, then in the 'other way round' of love and death the opposites cancel each other out. For this, the simple, only mirroring consciousness must be distinguished from the deeper awareness, which can only be experienced securely in a self-analytical practice (an-alytical psychocatharsis). The author also shows by means of contrasts in other areas that a new view, indeed a kind of vi-sion, can expand conventional psychoanalysis by means of such a practice. It contains not only analytical but also medi-tative aspects and can thus be learned by everyone himself - as also described in the book.

Download or read book Facing the Other Way written by F. Lawrence Fleming and published by F Lawrence Fleming. This book was released on 2015-01-07 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author's note: If I had known just how difficult an ancestor Erkenbald the Fleming would be, I would possibly have stuffed him back into the academic journal in which I first found him, namely: History, volume 28, issue 108, September 1943, pp. 129-147, Companions of the Conqueror by David C. Douglas. Most academics seem to concur with Professor Douglas that Erkenbald (Erchenbaldo filio Erchenbaldi vicecomitis = Erkenbald, son of Erkenbald the vicomte) had probably taken part in the Battle of Hastings in 1066. However, when I suggested that this same Erkenbald was the true ancestor of the medieval Fleming families in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, I ran into considerable opposition. I was told that it is common knowledge that the Flemings of the British Isles descend from any number of unrelated immigrants from Flanders who took the surname Fleming. Apparently, there cannot possibly have been any "first Fleming." With the publication of this present volume, I hope to give Erkenbald some of the notoriety that I believe he deserves by having made him an interesting character in a story. Later, perhaps, we can re-examine the historical evidence without burdensome preconceptions.
Download or read book Your Love and My Story A Tit For Tat The Other Way Round written by Harish Pandey and published by BecomeShakespeare.com. This book was released on with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Move on, is a basic concept of life, but care should be taken while making such transition such that, distance should be covered and not created. This story justifies the same concept. If a human is to err then he is also meant to correct. Yes, it takes time to realize one’s mistakes but once the realization process is over, one must be gutsy enough to accept it and correct it. At times, just a sorry is not enough in friendship and a sorry is nothing without efforts to mend the harm. So from strangers you become best friends, from best friends you become strangers again; the cycle completes itself in a way. But then it’s up to one’s conscience as to how one considers the cycle in his mind and how much he values his elationships. Kabeer, Radhika, and Vishesh’s friendship, unfortunately, ended in the same college where it took off from. Some intentional mistakes and some situational conspiracies have shaped up the whole story with a question mark in the end. Someone needed to acknowledge and give a befitting reply to the almighty questioner, TIME. They say ‘actions speak louder than words’, but ‘words in the form of action speak loudest’ I guess. At least Vishesh proved it so. And finally, in this story, friendship wins against all the odds.
Download or read book The Other Side of the Scopes Monkey Trial written by Jerry Bergman and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-10-26 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The enormous amount of literature on the Scopes Trial focuses on the religious elements of the trial. It almost totally ignored the importance of racism as taught in the text that Scopes used to teach biology. Bryan was not concerned about evolution in general, but specifically human evolution. He believed that Darwin’s theory, as applied to humans, encouraged the oppression of certain oppressed groups. Taking evolution’s philosophy to its logical conclusion meant justifying “survival of the fittest” in social matters. This philosophy he learned from his extensive reading about WWI was a major factor influencing the Germans to fight in the first World War. Furthermore, Bryan believed the citizens of Tennessee had a right to determine what their children were taught in the public schools. Another fact that is rarely mentioned is the main fossil evidence cited in the trial documents, and the press, in support of human evolution has been discredited by evolutionists including Neanderthal man, Piltdown man, Java man, and Nebraska man. Scopes was not a biology teacher, but rather taught math. His college degree was not in biology, but law. He was not put on the stand to testify in his trial, probably because he never taught evolution and could not honestly answer questions about teaching it. This book covers the so-called trial of the century, telling the real story of a sham brought on by the ACLU to further their political and anti-Christian goals.

Download or read book Other Side of the Edge written by Sumina Sharma and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2022-01-18 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fictional story of Northwestern Himalayas – Small villages – A girl, her upbringing and culture with a combination of ancient and a bit of modernity. Along with tossing and turning experiences –– Stories composed ‘Around the Corner of Saroi’—A place where life is imagined as another world, exactly just at the end corner of the universe. A mixed memoir of personal and paternal life experiences – Description of cherished moments encountered in a joint family house called ‘Chowki House.’ While everyone is sitting on the patio, in the deep dark snowy and wintery nights, having endless gossiping sessions, in the open, close to a bonfire called angheetha in the local dialect and ‘brazier’ in today’s world. Though this narrative is totally fictional, the gist is inspired through the experiences of our forefathers and the narration of a particular community of that age that undoubtedly existed around that time. Highlighted the myths and misbeliefs that had prevailed over the period, carried on from generation to generation. Despite some of them being proved as having scientific notions behind them. While some had been in practice to keep family and community on the right track into closely knitted societal bonds. Otherwise, they have no meaning. However, “Other side of the Edge ” is not just about the pain and pleasure our forefathers' generations experienced in the olden days. It’s about the precious human values shared as a part of society that refused to be ignored. Where ‘family gathering’ was the one and only source of entertainment for extended families. To discuss, share their past and present experiences, and stand up together to prepare the best for the future of those they care about and want to have around them. Where bonding with relatives was meant to show ‘respect’ without being self-centred, rather than a gesture of formality. From my writing, I attempted to pen down those glimpses heard through the mouth of forefathers, and some of them sighted in childhood. Yet, perhaps there might be times I would not have understood precisely what the message meant during those tender years of childhood.
Download or read book The Other Side of Silence written by Mahnaz Afkhami and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2022-09-01 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Mahnaz Afkhami picked up the phone in a New York hotel room early one morning in November 1978, she learned she could never go home again: she had been declared an apostate and enemy of the Iranian Revolution and was now on its death list. Afkhami, Iran's first minister for women's affairs, began to rebuild her life in the United States, becoming an architect of the women's movement in the Global South. Along the way, she encountered familial, cultural, political, and organizational hurdles that threatened to derail her quest to empower women and change the very structure of human relations. A skilled storyteller who has spent her life in two worlds, Mahnaz Afkhami shares her unexpected and meteoric rise from unassuming English professor to a champion of women's rights in Iran; the clash between Western feminists and those from the Global South; and the challenges of international women's rights work during the so-called war on terror. Her journey through exile shows what it takes to launch and sustain a worldwide grassroots movement: funding, an ever-expanding network, conferences, education, and decades of hard work requiring individuals and organizations to persevere despite ongoing wars, humanitarian disasters, and climate change. Told with humor, honesty, and compassion, Afkhami's remarkable story illuminates the possibility of bringing opportunity and choice to women across the world.
Download or read book The Other Side of the World written by Mary Jo Clark and published by Strategic Book Publishing. This book was released on 2011-07 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Other Side of the World: Vision and Reality embraces and celebrates the experiences of idealistic, young Peace Corps volunteers as they confronted the ancient and enigmatic civilization of India four decades ago. Prompted by memories and emotions tapped during a gathering on the 40-year reunion of their return to the States, members of India 44 A&B provide reflections that are honest, compelling, insightful, riotous, humbling, and yet redemptive. These reflections give expression to feelings long repressed and, at the same time, uncover the mysterious ways in which their service in remote India transformed and redirected the trajectory of their lives. Their stories provide a humorous and deeply moving description of village life, where imperfect language skills and limited technical capabilities interacted with good intentions and stubborn dedication to produce embarrassment on the one hand, and the occasional minor miracle on the other. This is not a feel-good testimony to the Peace Corps on its golden anniversary. Rather, it is a sobering depiction of the lives of volunteers living in one of the Peace Corps' most demanding site countries, where frustrations and challenges were found in abundance. Yet at the end of the day, these stories generally attest to the wisdom of the Peace Corps concept, which affirms the powers of volunteerism and the giving of self. For many, it was the first time these volunteers had articulated their feelings since leaving India. Mary Jo Clark, Thomas Corbett, Michael Simonds and Haywood Turrentine compiled the book. Respectively, the authors reside in San Diego, California, Madison, Wisconsin, the greater Hartford area, and Birmingham, Alabama. http: //sbpra.com/HaywoodTurrentine
