Book Heaven on Earth

Download or read book Heaven on Earth written by Sharifa Oppenheimer and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 2006-08 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 6 lectures and an essay, 1919-1920 (CW 297) World War I destroyed the structures, values, and self-confidence that created the seeming greatness of the nineteenth century. In its place stood ruins and the shards of a civilization. In response to this, Emil Molt--the director of the Waldorf-Astoria Cigarette Factory and a student of Rudolf Steiner--decided to establish a school to educate people who could create a new culture. Thus, the Waldorf school movement was begun. Rudolf Steiner agreed to act as the school's consultant, and his insights guided the school in accomplishing this ambitious task. The goal of this education was that, through living inner work guided by the insights of Rudolf Steiner, the teachers would develop in the children such power of thought, depth of feeling, and strength of will that they would emerge from their school years as full members of the human community, able to meet and transform the world. These lectures occurred around the opening of the first Waldorf school. They serve as an excellent, inspiring introduction to Waldorf education as a whole. Here Steiner outlines--with freshness, immediacy, and excitement--the goals and intentions of a new form of education and speaks to parents of prospective students. He explains the school's guiding principles and describes how parents must participate, with understanding and interest, in the awakening of their children's creative forces so that a healthier society can come about. Book Heaven s Nursery

Download or read book Heaven s Nursery written by Tammara Villegas McLane and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-03-20 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did you ever have a dream so rare and so real with colors, beauty, and tranquility unlike anything here on earth? And while in that dream, you were there not just in mind but in body too? I have. I dreamed I was in heaven, and it was so much more than I could imagine. There were angels surrounding me, and I felt so protected. As I turned to look at each of these angels, they were all staring at me. Their eyes never blinked. One angel took me by my hand and guided me. She was my guardian angel. They were all so beautiful. As I walked, they seemed to be gliding alongside of me so effortlessly and gracefully. Their skin shimmered; as they moved, tiny sparkles were left floating in the air all around us, glowing in brilliant shades of every color. The gaze from their eyes captured my soul with their beauty and kept me entranced. When they spoke, it was with a whisper followed by a faint, haunting echo. Their long tresses floating like long satin ribbons gently trailing behind them. Each dressed in a white silk gown delicately fl owing in a constant state of motion. Upon their shoulders were wings covered in white and golden down feathers. The floors were made of clouds, the ceilings were the stars, and the walls were made of golden pillars that divided heaven into chambers, each with its own special purpose. The first chamber shown to me was the nursery. In this nursery were angels nurturing tiny souls, each nestled in a cloud-like cradle. These little souls glowing with the intensity of the sun. My guardian angel told me they are a part of the soul of a past family member. Upon the birth of a child in that family, the soul and the child become one. A part of you will always live on. My guardian angel turned to me, held my hands, and then caressed my face. She gazed into my eyes and said, "Your grandchild is in this nursery. You will be a grandmother soon." I looked back into the nursery and wondered which tiny soul was mine. I looked back at her and asked, "When will I be a grandmother?" She said, "You must wake up now. Wake up, my child, wake up." I didnt want to leave! I wanted to stay! They began to fl oat away from me, our eyes locked on each other until they were out of sight. The angels whispered in unison, "Wake up, wake up." I opened my eyes, and it was morning. While I was still lying in bed, I thought to myself, What a vivid dream. It felt as if I were in heaven.

Book excerpt: New York Times Bestseller and Man Booker Prize Finalist: A novel of ancient Greece by the author Hilary Mantel calls “a shining light.” Alexander the Great stands alone as a leader and strategist, and Fire from Heaven is Mary Renault’s unsurpassed dramatization of the formative years of his life. His parents fight for their precocious son’s love: On one side, his volatile father, Philip, and on the other, his overbearing mother, Olympias. The story tells of the conqueror’s two great bonds—to his horse, Oxhead, and to his dearest friend and eventual lover, Hephaistion—and of the army he commands when he is barely an adult. Coming of age during the battles for southern Greece, Alexander the Great appears in all of his colors—as the man who first takes someone’s life at age twelve and who swiftly eliminates his rivals as soon as he comes to power—and emerges as a captivating, complex, larger-than-life figure. Fire from Heaven is the first volume of the Novels of Alexander the Great trilogy, which continues with The Persian Boy and Funeral Games. This ebook features an illustrated biography of Mary Renault including rare images of the author. “Mary Renault is a shining light to both historical novelists and their readers. She does not pretend the past is like the present, or that the people of ancient Greece were just like us. She shows us their strangeness; discerning, sure-footed, challenging our values, piquing our curiosity, she leads us through an alien landscape that moves and delights us.” —Hilary Mantel
