This book was released on 2016-01-05 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: QIYAM means 'STANDING' and 'QIYAMUL-LAIL' means 'STANDING IN THE NIGHT.' In the Islamic terminology, both terms refer to 'the voluntary night prayer, whose time extends from after 'Isya' (evening) prayer until dawn. ' Qiyamul-lail' is also known as Tahajjud. A widespread misconception is that Tahajjud is a different night prayer than Qiyam. The truth is that there is only one voluntary night prayer known by different names. The excellence of night prayer: Numerous Prophetic narrations and Quranic verses mention the excellence of night prayer and the merit of those who perform it regularly. Allah The Almighty, says (what means): "O you who wraps himself [in clothing], arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - half of it - or subtract from it a little or add to it, and recite the Quran with measured recitation."[Quran 73: 1-4] It is reported that the Messenger of Allah, (peace and blessings be upon him), said: "Allah, Our Lord, descends (in a manner befitting His Majesty) to the nearest heaven to us of this universe during the last third of the night and says: 'Is there anyone to call upon Me so that I shall respond to him (fulfill his prayer). Is there anyone to ask of Me that I may grant his request. Is there anyone to seek My forgiveness so that I shall pardon him (and forgive his sins)'." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

It's a time when children dress in traditional clothing and go from house to house collecting treats from their neighbors. When Noor sees the full moon rising, signaling the coming of Girgian, she and her brothers prepare for the fun. Together, they decorate the bags they'll carry to collect the candies. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ramadan is the month-long Islamic festival of fasting and prayer. It is observed by Muslims all over the world, during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, known as the month of Ramadan. The observance of Ramadan began in the year 610 CE, when the Prophet Muhammad received the first revelations of the Quran. It is mandatory for all healthy adult Muslims who are not travelling or menstruating to fast during this period, from sunrise to sunset. Fasting means abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs during the fasting hours, which typically lasts for around 14 hours a day. The goal of fasting during Ramadan is not just to abstain from food and drink but also to promote self-discipline, restraint, and devotion to Allah. The month of Ramadan is a time for strengthening one's faith in Allah, performing acts of charity, and seeking forgiveness for wrongdoings. Muslims engage in additional prayers during Ramadan, particularly the nightly prayer known as Taraweeh, which is recited after the Isha prayer. The month of Ramadan ends with the Eid-ul-Fitr festival, which is a celebration of the end of fasting, marked by prayers and feasting with family and friends. Ramadan is a significant event for the Islamic community and a time for spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and giving to others.

Book The Road To Mecca

Download or read book The Road To Mecca written by Muhammad Asad and published by The Book Foundation. This book was released on 1954 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Part travelogue, part autobiography, "The Road to Mecca" is the compelling story of a Western journalist and adventurer who converted to Islam in the early twentieth century. A spiritual and literary counterpart of Wilfred Thesiger and a contemporary of T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), Muhammad Asad journeyed around the Middle East, Afghanistan and India. This is an account of Asad's adventures in Arabia, his inner awakening, and his relationships with nomads and royalty alike, set in the wake of the First World War. It can be read on many levels: as a eulogy to a lost world, and as the poignant account of a man's search for meaning. It is also a love story, defying convention and steeped in loss. With its evocative descriptions and profound insights on the Islamic world, "The Road to Mecca" is a work of immense value today.

Book The Four Imams and Their Schools

Download or read book The Four Imams and Their Schools written by Shaykh Gibril Fouad Haddad and published by . This book was released on 2024-04-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE GREAT EDIFICE of Islamic Law is held up by four towering figures of the early middle ages: Abu Hanifa, Malik, al-Shafi i, and Ibn Hanbal. Because of their immense dedication and intellectual acuity, these men enjoy recognition to this day as Islam s most influential scholars. By assessing and ranking hadith, by cultivating a deep knowledge of the Arabic language, and by virtue of their great native intelligence, they are credited with having shaped the development of the fundamental systems of Muslim jurisprudence, avoiding the twin pitfalls of subjective rationalism and blind literalism. By doing so they not only protected their religion from chaos and disorder, but showed the Muslims, both ordinary and expert, the safest and most reliable ways of avoiding error in the understanding and practice of the divine law. This detailed study offers biographies of these four men and their leading pupils. It surveys the distinctive features of their jurisprudence, and assesses their achievement. An especially helpful feature is a long and detailed glossary of Islamic technical terms. Meticulously rooted in the core texts of Islamic scholarship, this book will be an important resource for Shari`a students everywhere. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Shaykh Gibril Fouad Haddad is the author of the first complete translation of Imam Baydawi's commentary of the Quran in any language. Among his works recently published by ISCA are The Rightly-Guided Caliphs: Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, ʿAlī; The Muhammadan Light in the Qurʾan, Sunna, and Companion-Reports; The Prophet Muhammad's Knowledge of the Unseen; and the forty-hadith-through-forty-Sharifs bilingual Hadith compendium The Musnad of Ahl al-Bayt. He is currently working on the first English translation of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani's early Lebanon Sufi associations (1978-1981). He lives with his family in Brunei Darussalam.
