Therefore we ought to get the bacon and ham for a good deal less than is paid in England, instead of ten or twelve cents a pound more. Canada is a storehouse of food, producing more than it can consume, and helping to feed the rest of the world. Yet the price of food is far higher here than in England, which does not produce nearly enough food for its own needs.
