Book The New Gospel of the Kingdom According to Saint Mark

Download or read book The New Gospel of the Kingdom According to Saint Mark written by Minister Bennie Earl Jenkins and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-11-19 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an exciting, concise, and complete presentation of the gospel of the kingdom. It is an insightful update and upgrade of the gospel of the kingdom according to Saint Mark, which is the shortest of the four gospels. Many are trying to spread the gospel of the kingdom by providing lost souls copies of the whole Bible. This is like giving a hungry baby a porterhouse steak to eat. Of course, the baby cannot handle it. Others pass out tracts or pamphlets, which fail to give our Savior all the credit for all he has done. This work gives the whole story of his life, teachings, sacrifice, and victory over death. It will be a powerful tool for those dedicated to spreading the gospel of the kingdom to all nations. The goal of this book is to bring reverence, respect, and honor to the name of our Lord and Savior. It lifts him as our king in Earth as he will be lifted as King of kings in Heaven. It uses his Hebrew name and identifies him as King Yeshua. Several years ago, someone asked, "Why do you Christians obey and worship someone who is at most a Jewish Rabbi?" Sadly, there was no satisfactory answer for him. A careful study of the four gospel reveals that none of them directly identifies the Savior as a king. The wise men recognized his royalty at his birth, when they presented him royal gifts and worshipped him. Finally, at his crucifixion in defiance of his enemies, Pilate recognized his kingship at his death. His enemies did everything they could to deny his kingship. This book gives him the crown they did not want him to have. It acknowledges his kingship and refuses to let them win. No, we do not obey and worship a Jewish Rabbi. We obey and worship King Yeshua, who is the Son of God, the King of kings, the malik Almuluk, Wan wang Zhi wang, Hari ng mga Hari, Roi des Rois, Konig der Konige, Raja'o no raja, raajaon ke raja, O no nakanoo, wang jung wang, rei dos reis, Korol' Koroley, Rey de Reyes, raja raja, Mfalme wa Wafalme, and vua cua cac vi vua yenegesitati nigusi. He is King of kings.

This commentary focuses primarily on the problem of understanding what Mark himself intended to convey to his readers when he set out to write the good news of Jesus Christ'. There is an examination of information in the gospel about the historical Jesus, about the early Christian community and about Mark's theological concerns. There is, also, consideration of the sources for the Gospel, of the tradition behind it and of interventions by editors. Professor Hooker's new commentary takes account of the many lasted twentieth-century Markan studies and comes with her own translation of the Gospel. Book The Gospel According to Mark

Download or read book The Gospel According to Mark written by James R. Edwards and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2002 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new Pillar volume offers exceptional commentary on Mark that clearly shows the second Gospel though it was a product of the earliest Christian community to be both relevant and sorely needed in today's church. Written by a biblical scholar who has devoted thirty years to the study of the second Gospel, this commentary aims primarily to interpret the Gosepl of Mark according to its theological intentions and purposes, especially as they relate to the life and ministry of Jesus and the call to faith and discipleship. Unique features of James Edwards's approach include clear descriptions of key terms used by Mark and revealing discussion of the Gospel's literary features, including Mark's use of the "sandwich" technique and of imagistic motifs and irony. Edwards also proposes a new paradigm for interpreting the difficult "Little Apocalypse" of chapter 13, and he argues for a new understanding of Mark's controversial ending.

Download or read book The Gospel of St Mark written by Dennis Eric Nineham and published by Penguin Group. This book was released on 1963 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story begins in the period immediately after the lifetime of Jesus when as yet there were no written accounts of any sort, but the tradition about him was preserved entirely by word of mouth. So far as the material in our Gospels is concerned, it was preserved during this period exclusively by Christians. Although St. Mark was no biographer, by linking together the various separate stories and groups of stories with summary passages of his own composition, he has produced what is, so far as its form is concerned, a connected historical narrative. It tells of the Lord's baptism by John the Baptist, of a subsequent varied ministry in Galilee, of some journeys outside Galilee ending with a journey to Jerusalem, and finally of a series of events -- the entry upon the ass, the cleansing of the temple, the scene in the treasury, and the like -- which must obviously have taken place in Jerusalem. - Introduction.

Download or read book Mark written by Darrell Bock and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-08-06 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides a comprehensive, accessible introduction to the Gospel of Mark, now widely considered the first recorded treatment of Jesus. Darrell Bock explains how this text, once the least-used gospel, came to be regarded as the starting point for understanding Jesus. Drawing together previous arguments and discussion in a constructive summary, he traces the significance of Mark and addresses key features such as its cultural and historical background, its narrative flow, and the role of Greek in supplying meaning. This commentary highlights the issues Mark's gospel raises and develops Mark's message surrounding Jesus' claims of kingdom authority and salvation, the call to disciples to follow him, and the preparation of those disciples to face suffering in light of their choice. Mark will be a valuable resource for students, teachers, and pastors alike.

Book The Gospel According to Saint Mark

Download or read book The Gospel According to Saint Mark written by C. E. B. Cranfield and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1977 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The last fifty years have seen a shift of emphasis in New Testament scholarship. When the task was to establish the text and to discuss the authenticity of the documents, linguistic and historical considerations came first. Now that these things are approaching a settled state it has become possible, and necessary, to give more attention to the theological and religious content of the New Testament. Hence the New Testament is re-examined by scholars in this new series. Each volume takes a book of the New Testament and, after an introduction on general matters, goes through the text in great detail, commenting especially on theological matters, relating the contents to the life and worship of the early Christian communities. It is assumed that students have their own Greek text beside the open commentary. The text on which the commentary is based is the Kilpatrick-Nestle edition.

Book The Gospel According to Mark

Download or read book The Gospel According to Mark written by C. F. D. Moule and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1965-01-02 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume on Mark's Gospel is one of the series of commentaries on the New English Bible designed for use in schools and training colleges, and for the layman. Each volume will comment on one book, or two or three short books, of the Bible, beginning with the New Testament, already published. In each the text will be given in full. Sections of text and commentary alternate, so that the reader does not have to keep two books open, or turn from one part of the book to the other, or refer to a commentary in small type at the foot of the page. Great care is being taken to see that the commentary is suitable to the student and the layman: there is no Greek or Hebrew, and no strings of biblical references, but the commentary does convey the latest and best scholarship. The general editors all have experience of teaching or examining in school and working with adults. There will also be a general introductory volume, Understanding the New Testament, and a volume of maps and plates, The New Testament Illustrated.
