Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout the last three decades, a large amount of information on phosphonates has accumulated, but has not been compiled. At this time of the increasing importance of phosphonate class of molecules, this information needs to be drawn together to make a manageable volume for use as a reference text and as learning text for interested persons.

Download or read book Phosphorus 31 NMR Spectral Properties in Compound Characterization and Structural Analysis written by Louis D. Quin and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 1994-10-27 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a methods-oriented book, which contains enormous amounts of information on 31P NMR, in a concise and well-edited format. It is an invaluable resource for every NMR spectroscopist. This book consists of 33 chapters, which together 'constitute a compendium that will be of optimal utility to the majority of 31P NMR spectroscopy users as well as to those perhaps not as familiar with the technique but curious about potential applications in their own research.' (From the editors' preface) There have been a number of new developments in NMR techniques in the 6 years since Verkade and Quin edited the first, successful book on 31P NMR. This new book does not supersede the previous book; it offers a wide cross-section of recent research. Compard to the first, basic, grounding volume, this book presents more results (it is more applied); it directly reflects a more mature science. Arguably, VCH has published the best NMR books in recent years (Neuhaus/Williamson, Croasmun/Carlson, etc.). This new addition to VCH's NMR list ensures the continued visibility and excellence of VCH in this field.
Download or read book New Developments in Lipid Protein Interactions and Receptor Function written by K.W.A. Wirtz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-10-24 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A NATO Advanced Study Institute on "New Developments in Lipid-Protein Interactions and Receptor Function" was held on the Island of Spetsai, Greece, from August 16-27, 1992. This Institute was organized to bring together researchers in the field of membrane organization and dynamics with those actively involved in studies on receptor function, signal transduction mechanisms and gene regulation. 2 Presentations and discussions focussed on the regulation of intracellular Ca +-levels, on the second messengers derived from inositol lipids and on the specific phospholipase C isozymes involved in these processes. A major focus was on G-proteins and the effect of lipid anchors on their function. These principles of regulation were further discussed in the context of receptors for acetylcholine, lysophosphatidic acid and low-density lipoproteins. In addition, various aspects of the genomic regulation of cell growth and differentiation by transcription factors were presented. These topics were put into perspective by discussing the most recent developments in lipid-protein interactions, protein insertion into membranes, membrane lipid organization and lipid dynamics as mediated by phospholipid transfer proteins. This book presents the content of the major lectures and a selection of the most relevant of the most important topics posters. These proceedings offer a comprehensive account presented during the course of the Institute. The book is intended to make these proceedings accessible to a large audience.
Download or read book Organophosphorus Chemistry 2018 written by György Keglevich and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-03-05 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organophosphorus chemistry is an important discipline within organic chemistry. Phosphorus compounds, such as phosphines, trialkyl phosphites, phosphine oxides (chalcogenides), phosphonates, phosphinates and >P(O)H species, etc., may be important starting materials or intermediates in syntheses. Let us mention the Wittig reaction and the related transformations, the Arbuzov- and the Pudovik reactions, the Kabachnik–Fields condensation, the Hirao reaction, the Mitsunobu reaction, etc. Other reactions, e.g., homogeneous catalytic transformations or C-C coupling reactions involve P-ligands in transition metal (Pt, Pd, etc.) complex catalysts. The synthesis of chiral organophosphorus compounds means a continuous challenge. Methods have been elaborated for the resolution of tertiary phosphine oxides and for stereoselective organophosphorus transformations. P-heterocyclic compounds, including aromatic and bridged derivatives, P-functionalized macrocycles, dendrimers and low coordinated P-fragments, are also of interest. An important segment of organophosphorus chemistry is the pool of biologically-active compounds that are searched and used as drugs, or as plant-protecting agents. The natural analogue of P-compounds may also be mentioned. Many new phosphine oxides, phosphinates, phosphonates and phosphoric esters have been described, which may find application on a broad scale. Phase transfer catalysis, ionic liquids and detergents also have connections to phosphorus chemistry. Green chemical aspects of organophosphorus chemistry (e.g., microwave-assisted syntheses, solvent-free accomplishments, optimizations, and atom-efficient syntheses) represent a dynamically developing field. Last, but not least, theoretical approaches and computational chemistry are also a strong sub-discipline within organophosphorus chemistry.
Download or read book Metabolomic Applications in Animal Science written by Shozo Tomonaga and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metabolomics has been a useful method for various study fields. However, its application in animal science does not seem to be sufficient. Metabolomics will be useful for various studies in animal science: Animal genetics and breeding, animal physiology, animal nutrition, animal products (milk, meat, eggs, and their by-products) and their processing, livestock environment, animal biotechnology, animal behavior, and animal welfare. More application examples and protocols for animal science will promote more motivation to use metabolomics effectively in the study field. Therefore, in this Special Issue, we introduced some research and review articles for “Metabolomic Applications in Anmal Science”. The main methods used were mass spectrometry or nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Not only a non-targeted, but also a targeted, analysis of metabolites is shown. The topics include dietary and pharmacological interventions and protocols for metabolomic experiments.
