Book excerpt: The Mystery of an Old Master Painting, Madonna of Divine Love Painting by Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino is written with the purpose of clarifying the story believed for centuries of a painting on wood created in 1518 by a pupil of Raffaello (Raphael), although everybody knew that the master had painted the original on canvas in 1514. Unfortunately, the original disappeared for 471 years (from the time of the 1544 Vasari description to 2015), and until there is a side-by-side exhibit of the two paintings, there will be only this story to reveal the truth.

Book Madonna of Divine Love by Raffaello

Download or read book Madonna of Divine Love by Raffaello written by Carla Nicole De Petris and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2020-04-16 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Madonna of Divine Love by Raffaello By: Carla Nicole De Petris April 6, 2020 marks 500 years since the death of Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino. When he died at only 37 years old, he left the most beautiful paintings, particularly many of Madonna and Child. One particular painting lost since 1544 when it was described by Vasari as a 1514 painting on canvas by Raffaello, for Leonello Pio da Carpi, but since then it was never seen again. The CapodiMonte Museum in Naples describes the 1518 painting on wood as the “Madonna of Divine Love” by Raffaello, but since the eighteenth century many art historians believe that the painting on wood is by GianFrancesco Penni, Raffaello’s pupil, so where is the original painting by Raffaello? This painting was not mentioned for almost five-hundred years. Where was it? Elma believed she had an original Raffaello painting, and she wanted to know whether the story told by her aunt Anna was correct. Carla Nicole De Petris fell in love with this painting, and the story fascinated her. This story follows the history of the painting and the story of the research.

Da Vinci kept the painting and started a long romance with her ideal woman that went on for 20 years through permanent retouching. The portrait accompanied Leonard during all his traveling and through different homes. This dramatic fiction recreates the relationship of Leonardo with the Gioconda, with his assistants Salai and with the world and his relentless searching of truth and beauty. The painting keeps captivating Humanity after many centuries and keeps posing the same questions Da Vinci posed to himself: Why is the Gioconda laughing? What mystery is hiding Mona Lisa? Why the smile is the portal to the soul? What is the nature of the divine feminine? The mysteries of La Gioconda synthetizes the mysteries of life and womanhood.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the announcement of another Mona Lisa portrait by Leonardo da Vinci, held in a Swiss bank vault for over 40 years, this book is the first to analyze the meaning of this astonishing discovery, and how it radically changes our understanding of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. By tracing Leonardo's movements in Florence on an almost day-to-day basis, Drs. Isbouts and Brown are able to reconstruct the fascinating chronology of the Mona Lisa portrait, and show how the subject ultimately became an obsession in the latter part of Leonardo's life. The authors posit that whereas the Swiss Mona Lisa is clearly a portrait drawn from life of a young Florentine woman, the Louvre Mona Lisa is the culmination of Leonardo's lifelong quest for the mystery of motherhood, as expressed in his more than ten paintings of the Madonna motif. Written as narrative history, yet grounded in modern scholarship, The Mona Lisa Myth not only shatters the portrait's mythology, but also offers a bold new interpretation of the world's most famous painting that will revolutionize our understanding of Leonardo life and work.

Book excerpt: This thoroughly original work of art history presents a provocative theory about Leonardo da Vinci, the Mona Lisa, and Theological Gender Equality. The famous Mona Lisa smile has mystified viewers and intrigued historians for centuries. Completed in 1515, Leonardo da Vinci’s masterwork has hidden the lady’s secret well. Now, after years of research and analysis, W. N. Varvel has decoded the hidden meanings of Mona Lisa. In The Lady Speaks, Varnel reveals the vital message her smile conveys: a secret too dangerous for the artist to acknowledge during his life but one which he hoped future generations would understand and embrace. The coming of the “New Jerusalem” depends on the world’s recognizing what lies behind the Mona Lisa smile. Detailing how the artist wove a calculated fabric of clues, symbols, and images, Varvel establishes not only da Vinci’s, but also Michelangelo’s, belief in Theological Gender Equality. In a thrilling achievement of art history detective work, Varvel tracks clues, links previously unnoticed connections, recreates scenarios, identifies villains and heroes, and presents a persuasive case for what the lady must be thinking.
