Book excerpt: In 2110, the god we worship is the wrong god; the science we believe in is not complete, and Raphael Aronson has reluctantly become the president of the United World Republic. The Mustard Seed—2110, the second in the Mustard Seed trilogy, is an adventure novel that is centered around a totally new, literal and factual interpretation of the Christian religion: how it is explained in scriptures and how it is supported by scientific facts. President Rafe Aronson and his second in command, Morgan Baez, with a handpicked trio of warriors, follow the trail of a theft of military weapons into a world that was explained in the Bible and in science and in history. The story proceeds from Washington DC to Newfoundland to Arizona and through Hawaii and to the pyramid at Giza, and puts the planet, which had been torn by war from above and is under threat on the surface, back on the journey toward peace. But not without some startling discoveries. Technology is the same as human genetics, scripture is science, war is the same as peace, and god is not God. Aronson learns how science and religion have always told the same story, and he will find out how the FoxP2 gene, the HAR1 gene, the theory of relativity, and the parable of the mustard seed are the answers to humanity’s current existence and the explanation of our future.

Book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 35

Download or read book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 35 written by Spurgeon, Charles and published by Delmarva Publications, Inc.. This book was released on 2015-03-26 with total page 977 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 35 Sermons 2062-2120 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to publish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Book excerpt: In 2130, the god we worship is the wrong god; the science we believe in is not complete, and Raphael Aronson has given up the presidency of the United World Republic to his friend Uri Levinson. The Mustard Seed 2130, the third in the Mustard Seed trilogy, is a science-fiction adventure novel that is centered around a totally new, literal and factual interpretation of the Christian religion; how it is explained in scriptures and how it is supported by scientific fact. Morgan Baez and her friend, former president Raphael Aronson, with a handpicked group are attacked by an organization led by Rod Baez, Morgan’s adopted son. The story proceeds from Washington DC, to Newfoundland, through Hawaii and to Tel Meggido where the final unexpected war is to be fought, or not. Aronson has found out that technology is the same as human genetics, scripture is science, war is the same as peace, and god is not God. He and his friends are guided by a mysterious recluse, who calls himself a Watcher, on a trip through human history and pre-history; how mankind progressed from “a curious little biped” through genetic manipulation to become one of the most powerful entities on Earth, from scientific Adam and Eve into the third millennium AD where the politics of greed and falsehood nearly destroyed mankind in a flash of worldwide war. And he has found the top of the food chain, but it is not who he expected. Baez and the group follow the lead of a Watcher into the prophesies of the Book of Revelation only to find a surprise at the end where they find that the Theory of Relativity, the Parable of the Mustard Seed, and the Book of Revelation are the answers to humanity’s current existence and the explanation of our future.

Download or read book Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security written by Vandana Shiva and published by SAGE Publications Pvt. Limited. This book was released on 2002-12-02 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sustainable agriculture is based on the sustainable use of natural resources land, water and agricultural biodiversity, including that of plants and animals. The sustainable use of these, in turn, requires that their ownership and control lie with decentralised agricultural communities to generate livelihoods, provide food and conserve natural resources. These three dimensions of ecological security, livelihood security and food security are the essential elements of an agriculture policy which is sustainable and equitable. This book shows how the processes of globalization threaten to undermine all three dimensions, and calls for immediate action.

Book Food Flavours Technology Handbook

Download or read book Food Flavours Technology Handbook written by NIIR Board and published by NIIR PROJECT CONSULTANCY SERVICES. This book was released on 2004-02-25 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No doubt flavour is one of the most important attributes of the food products we eat in our daily life. Man does not eat simply to live but even more so lives to eat. Flavourings are focused on altering or enhancing the flavours of natural food product or creating flavour for food products that do not have the desired flavours for example bakery goods and other snacks. Flavour is generally defined in terms of three components; odour, taste and texture. Its characterization is concern with the similarities in human flavour perception using methods that designed to average out the differences. The flavour of foods may be classified as natural flavour (pre existing in diet particularly in fruits, vegetables and spices), process flavour (arising in end products as a result of conventional processes), compounded flavour (intentionally added flavouring), taste modifiers and abnormal taste and taints. Some of the flavouring materials produced by processing are chocolate, cheese, blue cheese, yogurt, wine, aroma chemicals etc. The flavour industry has become a vital element in the growth and success of food and beverage industries worldwide. The flavours industry remains very country specific and complex, with product formulations and flavours varying from country to country, as well as from region to region within countries. Processed foods, their flavours and textures, are adapted to local consumer preferences. Local or traditional foods have unique flavours evolving from the indigenous climate, land, etc. Generally speaking, trends in flavours closely mirror those in the packaged food and drink market. This includes the trends toward premium quality, savoury, natural and authentic, and health and wellness. The global flavour industry can be characterized as highly technical, specialized, and innovative. This industry is highly competitive and concentrated, compared to other product categories within the food and beverage market. The global flavours market is predicted to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 2% per annum. This book majorly deals with flavour in fruits and vegetables, additional pathways for vegetable flavour, change in food flavour after processing, flavours formed via fermentation, odd flavours in foods, odd flavours due to chemical changes in the food, relationships between the food and flavour manufacturers, flavour characters of herbs preparation of herbs for marketing, flavour constituents of grapes and wine, dried inactive yeast powder, synthetic flavouring materials, flavour potentiators, baked goods and bakery products, sugar and chocolate confectionery, techniques of sensory testing, fruit based products, gas chromatography, microbiological analysis The present book contains formulae, processes of various flavours applied in food and beverage industries. This book is intended to be a practical companion to the flavourist, technologists, entrepreneurs, libraries or for those who are already in the field of manufacturing.
