Book Masters of Belief

Download or read book Masters of Belief written by Felipe Zimmer and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2019-03-07 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Imagine taking all the distractions away: technology, your job, your car, your books, and even the people you meet daily. Picture all of them temporarily out of your life. Don’t worry, they’ll be back. But imagine living without distraction for several months. What would you come across? Perhaps, you would rediscover your beliefs, feelings, and needs––things of which you were not conscious due to life distractions. That is what author and speaker Felipe Zimmer did when he retreated to a house in the thick of nature in an effort to discover himself on a deeper level and rediscover humanity as a whole. By looking at existence from beyond the mental meanderings of daily life, Felipe’s consciousness expanded, and he was struck by inspiration not of this world but from what is beyond. As an analogy, what if we thought Earth was all there is? Then what if we received the opportunity to visit the rest of the universe? Masters of Belief is that universe as we look beyond the every day to make contact with a higher power. Exploring subjects like spirituality, mind, life, death, relationships, and much more, this book won’t tell you what to believe, but it might help you understand your own beliefs and guide you through the process of remembering who you are.

Book Your Life After Trauma Powerful Practices to Reclaim Your Identity

Download or read book Your Life After Trauma Powerful Practices to Reclaim Your Identity written by Michele Rosenthal and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2015-05-16 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Restoring your sense of self after trauma. “In 1981 as a thirteen-year-old child I was given a routine antibiotic for a routine infection and suffered anything but a routine reaction. An undiscovered allergy to the medication turned me into a full-body burn victim almost overnight. By the time I was released from the hospital I had lost 100% of my epidermis. Even more importantly, I had completely lost myself.” Now a professional coach who specializes in helping trauma victims rebuild their lives, Michele Rosenthal struggled with the effects of medically-induced post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for over 25 years before reaching a full recovery. Today, she is 100% free of symptoms of PTSD. In this book, she applies her personal experience and professional wisdom to offer readers an invaluable roadmap to overcoming their own trauma, in particular the loss of sense of self that often accompanies it. If you suffer from the effects of trauma or PTSD, whether it was caused by a single-incident like a car accident, or from chronic childhood abuse, domestic violence, illness, or war trauma, you are well aware of how disconnected you feel from the person you most deeply wish to be. Trauma interrupts—even hijacks—your identity. To cope, you may rely on mechanisms to keep your emotions, triggers, and responses in check, but these very habits can often prevent the true restoration of safety, stability, and inner connection. How can you rediscover your sense of self so that you honor who you were before the trauma (even if that trauma began at birth), understand who you are at this very moment, and determine who you want to be going forward? Like a therapist in your back pocket, Your Life After Trauma guides you in finding answers to these tough questions. Expertly written by a helping professional who keenly understands the post-trauma identity crisis that is so common among trauma and PTSD sufferers, it is a simple, practical, hands-on recovery workbook. Filled with self-assessment questionnaires, exercises, tips, and tools—not to mention insightful personal and professional vignettes—it takes readers through a step-by-step process of healing the identity crisis, from understanding some of the basic brain science behind trauma and why you feel the way you do, to recognizing who you were (or had the potential to be) before the trauma, who you are today, after the trauma, and who you want to become. With this book by your side, it is possible to regain a sense of calm, confidence, and control on your road to recovery.

Book Known by God

    Book Details:
  • Author : Brian S. Rosner
  • Publisher : Zondervan Academic
  • Release : 2017-09-12
  • ISBN : 0310499836
  • Pages : 273 pages

Download or read book Known by God written by Brian S. Rosner and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2017-09-12 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who are you? What defines you? What makes you, you? In the past an individual's identity was more predictable than it is today. Life's big questions were basically settled before you were born: where you'd live, what you'd do, the type of person you'd marry, your basic beliefs, and so on. Today personal identity is a do-it-yourself project. Constructing a stable and satisfying sense of self is hard amidst relationship breakdowns, the pace of modern life, the rise of social media, multiple careers, social mobility, and so on. Ours is a day of identity angst. Known by God is built on the observation that humans are inherently social beings; we know who we are in relation to others and by being known by them. If one of the universal desires of the self is to be known by others, being known by God as his children meets our deepest and lifelong need for recognition and gives us a secure identity. Rosner argues that rather than knowing ourselves, being known by God is the key to personal identity. He explores three biblical angles on the question of personal identity: being made in the image of God, being known by God and being in Christ. The notion of sonship is at the center - God gives us our identity as a parent who knows his child. Being known by him as his child gives our fleeting lives significance, provokes in us needed humility, supplies cheering comfort when things go wrong, and offers clear moral direction for living.

Book An Ordinary Saturday

Download or read book An Ordinary Saturday written by hailey brianna and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2024-01-16 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consider Moses the nomad and David the shepherd or perhaps Mary the alabaster seeker and Zacchaeus, the tax-collecting tree climber. Scripture is rich with broken and ordinary people who chose to follow Jesus even in the midst of less than ideal circumstances. The Bible is overflowing with disciples who chose Jesus through the Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays of their lives. When following Jesus there are seasons abundant in victories, but there are also seasons heavy with doubt and despair. An Ordinary Saturday is full of mistakes made and lessons learned by one of God’s beloved daughters, all centered on Scripture to show that although we are broken, He makes us whole. Author Hailey Brianna made a lot of wrong turns but always ended up exactly where she needed to be because of God’s grace and provision. There will always be moments in our lives when we’re asked to wait on God in the desert. The question is, how do we respond when facing the gap between where we are and where we want to be? When all hope seems to wither, we must remember we worship the Giver of Hope, Jesus Christ. An Ordinary Saturday is an inspiring book that reminds readers to choose Jesus always and hold on to the hope God provides. During your walk with God, Sunday always comes, but that does not mean the rest of our days are wasted.
