Download or read book Everything You Know About God Is Wrong written by Russ Kick and published by Red Wheel Weiser. This book was released on 2007-06-01 with total page 778 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the new mega-anthology from best-selling editor Russ Kick, more than fifty writers, reporters, and researchers invade the inner sanctum for an unrestrained look at the wild and wooly world of organized belief. Richard Dawkins shows us the strange, scary properties of religion; Neil Gaiman turns a biblical atrocity story into a comic (that almost sent a publisher to prison); Erik Davis looks at what happens when religion and California collide; Mike Dash eyes stigmatics; Douglas Rushkoff exposes the trouble with Judaism; Paul Krassner reveals his “Confessions of an Atheist”; and best-selling lexicographer Jonathon Green interprets the language of religious prejudice. Among the dozens of other articles and essays, you’ll find: a sweeping look at classical composers and Great American Songbook writers who were unbelievers, such as Irving Berlin, creator of “God Bless America”; the definitive explanation of why America is not a Christian nation; the bizarre, Catholic-fundamentalist books by Mel Gibson’s father; eye-popping photos of bizarre religious objects and ceremonies, including snake-handlers and pot-smoking children; the thinly veiled anti-Semitism in the Left Behind novels; an extract from the rare, suppressed book The Sex Life of Brigham Young; and rarely seen anti-religious writings from Mark Twain and H.G. Wells. Further topics include exorcisms, religious curses, Wicca, the Church of John Coltrane, crimes by clergy, death without God, Christian sex manuals, the “ex-gay” movement, failed prophecies, bizarre theology, religious bowling, atheist rock and roll, “how to be a good Christian,” an entertaining look at the best (and worst) books on religion, and much more.

Book excerpt: This book was written for those who have perhaps become disillusioned with the condition of today’s church. Over the years, much of the content of our faith has been seriously diluted, many words have been emptied of meaning, and much vibrancy has been lost. Found in these writings is the offering of some thoughts that can help us regain some of what we have lost. Jesus is still building his church today, whether or not we can see it, and it is the author’s hope that these writings are part of his reconstruction.

Book God s Truth We Have Been Misinformed about God for the Last 3 000 Years

Download or read book God s Truth We Have Been Misinformed about God for the Last 3 000 Years written by Ronald S. Coltart and published by Strategic Book Publishing. This book was released on 2012 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's Truth says what should have been said thousands of years ago. If it had been, history would not have recorded the millions upon millions of people that were needlessly slaughtered in the name of God and religion. For an eye-opening experience and to bridge the divisions between us, read God's Truth: we have been misinformed about God for the last 3,000 years! The religions of the world have not lived up to their promise of bringing peace, love and understanding to mankind. In fact, religion has brought just the opposite: war, hate and intolerance. How is this possible? Quite simply because we have the wrong picture in our minds about who, where and what is God. God's Truth clarifies the "who, where and what" God is, and therefore can bring unity and understanding to people everywhere. The book is not based on opinions, religions or ancient writings. As the title suggests, it is entirely built upon evidence that can be understood by the youngest children. This evidence has been with us for thousands of years, but has been largely overlooked until now. God's Truth is written in a friendly, conversational style. Because it unfolds facts that have been overlooked, it is arresting, intriguing and unique. The book will appeal to people throughout the world, irrespective of religion or ethnic background, as it points a way for mankind to find the real God, without any theology or its divisive concepts. About the Author: Ronald S. Coltart grew up in Scotland and now resides in Tampa, Florida. Publisher's website: http: //SBPRA.com/RonaldSColtart

He also exposes many fallacies people believed and hope for heaven when in reality, they are deceived. Dis-information, misinformation and outright lie can be of terrible consequences. Download or read book Reintroducing Jesus written by Steve Disebastian and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-12-14 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up? Whether atheist, Muslim, Mormon, evangelical, spiritual-but-not-religious, "other," or "none," everyone seems to have an opinion about Jesus. For 2,000 years people have been making some radically different claims about Jesus of Nazareth-the most influential person to ever live. Today, it's not getting any easier. Every flimsy theory and "alternative fact" about Jesus refuses to die thanks to the internet. Was Jesus just a larger-than-life legend? A regular rabbi with family troubles? Was he progressive? Conservative? Mentally unstable? Was he a zealous revolutionary? God in the flesh? Or just a really nice guy like your hippy neighbor? Reintroducing Jesus: Uncovering Jesus of Nazareth in the Misinformation Age looks at the best historical information available to rediscover Jesus of Nazareth in a world full of noise. "This book is a relevant and concrete foundation needed during a time when everything is in question." Rev. Nathan Karcesky, Senior Pastor, Journey Church, Conway, NH "Steve masterfully weaves historic details about Christ's life into this book that makes it an excellent, enjoyable read for the searching teenager, the challenging skeptic, and the well-read theologian." Dr. James Smock, Head of School, Timothy Christian School, Piscataway, NJ "Regularly in our culture, people have remade Jesus into the person they want him to be-which most of the time bears little resemblance to the actual historical Jesus. This book offers a corrective. Steven clearly is familiar with the technical academic scholarship on these questions, but he is able to present the material in such a way that is simple-but not simplistic-and equally readable to a high school student or adult." Dr. James Parker, retired Professor of Worldview and Culture, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary "... interesting and thought-provoking for the non-religious, the curious, as well as the studious." Dr. Corey Miller, President of Ratio Christi Introduction - The Big Question PART I - How We Know About Jesus Chapter 1 - Telephone Game Trauma Chapter 2 - Ready the Canon, Matey! Outro - What Another Empty Tomb Tells Us About Jesus ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Once an ardent atheist, Steve DiSebastian is a community apologist and chapter director at Rutgers University for Ratio Christi, an international campus ministry dedicated to thoughtful Christianity. He's also a classroom Bible teacher to high schoolers, pastor of Anchor Church, and a jiujitsu instructor. Despite his cauliflower ear, he's blessed with a wife and two children who love him. Book excerpt: By ancient definition, the adamant was known as both a diamond and a mythical stone of indestructible wonder. In more modern terminology, it describes a posture of unshakeable resolve and determination. If there was ever a time for us to be adamant about love and truth it is now. God is Love. God is Truth. Both love and truth are timeless, transcending our current trends and opinions. Sometimes the most loving thing we will ever do is to speak the truth, but speaking truth begins with living it. Using the mediums of Scripture and story, New York Times bestselling author Lisa Bevere takes readers on a journey into the Mountain of God, to the one place they can learn not only to abide in God's unshakeable truth and love, but become adamant--people who are unmovable, determined, and steadfast. With conviction and passion, Lisa unpacks the concept of the adamant for readers, linking together the grand story of Scripture and God's purpose in their lives. Readers will see that God's plan is revealed as we dwell in him, it is there that we are forged and shaped. As we abide in Christ our Cornerstone we are shaped into the image of the adamant.

Book The Fake God Reference Guide

Download or read book The Fake God Reference Guide written by Yasmeen Suri and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2018-05-31 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been a false propaganda under the guise of being authentic, to mislead and spread misinformation to the church. Evil spirits such as Kundalini, Yoga, and occult mysticism are dangerous spirits invading the church. These practices offer experiences that are contrary to the Scriptures. This reference guide book will help to expose and teach the truth according to God's Word. God's people are being destroyed for the lack of knowledge. Unfortunately, there are many professing Christians today that rely on their own "feelings" as to whether something is of God. Experience should never validate truth, and to judge something on how it "feels" or "looks" rather than testing it against God's Word and sound doctrine is a road that will lead to ruin. Just because it feels "good," does not mean it is. There are "doorways" that must be closed to protect us from demonic oppression, depression and even sometimes leading to possession. In Exodus 20:23 (NJKV), God says, "You must not live according to the customs of the nations I am going to drive out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them." Yasmeen Suri was born in India believing in the new age gods of her culture and converted to Christianity years later. She is a licensed ordained minister and speaks and sings professionally across the world. Yasmeen regularly appears on the 700 Club, TBN, TCT, National and International radio, churches and conventions sharing the dangers of "spiritual deception." She regularly sings the U.S. "National Anthem" and "God Bless America" for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Military, FBI, the United States Presidential Campaign, Politicians, Major Sports Teams and Dignitaries from around the world.

Download or read book Fake News Theology written by Kenton L. Sparks and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-02-27 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No matter what side you’re on or how you look at it, we’re living in a world that’s filled with “fake news” and with lots of people who believe it. How do Christians fits into this world? In this book, Kenton Sparks argues that certain approaches to biblical authority, which assume that the Bible is a perfect book, make Christians especially susceptible to the deceptions of “fake news” and cause us to embrace false understandings of the Bible and, because of this, about natural science, social science, various academic disciplines, politics, morals, ethics, and loads of other things. The resulting damage to faith and Christian witness is significant. Is there a better way to understand and honor biblical authority? Yes. We must restore God as the final authority over our interpretations of Scripture. The path forward for this theological agenda was modeled by Jesus Christ in his interpretations of Scripture. Whereas his contemporaries often followed the “letter of the law” or something akin to it, Jesus taught that love for God and neighbor provided the proper foundation and destination for healthy readings and applications of the Bible. If love required more radical, internal commitments to the law, Jesus demanded this of his audience; where love required that we set aside the law’s violent judgments, he pointed his audience in the opposite direction. In modeling this approach to Scripture, Jesus taught “as one with authority” and thus showed us that, when we interpret Scripture through the lens of divine love, we give ourselves the best opportunity to read Scripture under the authority of God.

The good news is that when His people are struggling, God stays close. There are many ways to reestablish a dynamic connection with Him. Readers who feel adrift from God will no find that no barrier is too big to keep them from a close, loving relationship with Him.
