Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leo's Misadventures is about Leo McGregor, a twenty-year-old surfer dude from Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, who won a $156 million lottery. He decided to get out of town for a while to get away from the locals who badgered him for a handout. He hitchhiked across America to Santa Monica, California, via Route 66. After a thirty-nine-day journey across the country, Leo ended up at the Santa Monica Pier with a journal full of stories and a girlfriend named Abby Walker. When he left Kitty Hawk, he had no idea what he would do when he arrived at his destination. Would he turn around and head back east or stick around on the West Coast for a while? Leo and Abby rented a beach house on the Pacific Ocean near the famous pier to give them time to figure things out. On his journey, Leo had given a lot of thought about the best way to use the money he had won. After much thought and discussion with Abby, he decided to start a charitable foundation. He and Abby found a nice office space near the pier and leased it for one year. Leo needed an attorney and found one in Santa Monica named Jess who helped him set up the foundation. With his charitable foundation up and running, Leo needed someone to run the day-to-day operations. He found Freddy, who lived in Malibu with his adopted parents, to fill this critical position. Leo, Abby, Jess, and Freddy became good friends and enjoyed themselves on the coast when they weren't working. Eventually, Leo bought an apartment building on the beach and converted it into a surf shop. He hired Brody, a local surf builder, to run the shop and use locals to help create the boards. Any profits would be donated to charity. With everything running smoothly, Leo began to ponder the need for similar charities in other parts of the country--or internationally.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enjoy the amusing adventures, and sometimes misadventures, of young boys growing up along the shores of the mighty Missouri River. This book provides a nostalgic slice of history seen through the eyes of adventurous youths in mid-twentieth-century Montana. Growing up in Great Falls, Montana, in the mid-twentieth century was a unique and challenging experience. My brother and I, along with our companions, took full advantage of the hunting and fishing venues near Great Falls in our quest for adventure. When we werenat hunting and fishing, we played baseball on scrubby grass fields in Gibson Park and hockey on the parkas frozen pond, and in barn-like arenas in the prairie towns of southern Alberta. Our family endured the Depression and dealt with the struggles imposed by World War II, so we had an enduring need for earning our own spending money by working on a variety of jobs.

Book Misadventures in Tuscany

Download or read book Misadventures in Tuscany written by David M. Addison and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-05-04 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David M. Addison provides a refreshing, alternative perspective in travel writing. A bit like Mr Bean on holiday, picking up the wrong piece of luggage at the airport is just the first in a series of misadventures which bedevil the author and his long-suffering wife on this ill-starred trip to Tuscany. From the lesser-known Lucca, which serves as the epicentre for his disasters, to Pisa and Florence, the author takes the reader not only on a hilarious journey, but also on one of discovery as he lurches from one crisis to the next. His frequently toe-curling account of his misadventures with the wrong bag is the link that blows like a gale of laughter throughout this narrative. Yet, for all his bungling, the author is surprisingly knowledgeable about the art, architecture and the history of Florence, Pisa and Lucca - places famous on the tourist map but what attracts his attention in these places is the weird amidst the wonderful, the curious and the quirky details that pass unnoticed by the majority of tourists. In addition to this, the author takes the reader off the beaten track to places most tourists never venture. There are frequent laugh-out-loud moments at his technophobia, his blunders, his brushes with officialdom and those who just happen to cross his path, who either amuse him, intrigue him or as often as not, provoke his irritation. A word of sympathy however, must be mentioned for his long-suffering wife and travelling companion who, amidst all this mayhem, is an innocent and unwitting accomplice.

Book Survival from the Start

Download or read book Survival from the Start written by Saavo and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2017-12-27 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These stories are based on a real person and different experiences of the main character. The fortunate thing is, the author is one of the few people who can converse with the person behind the premier character and in his native language. There is not any interest on his part to put his experiences in print, but he is fine with me doing so. There is still his strong belief in old-fashioned traditions of passing down stories by oral means alone. Neither one has the desire to present any of his heroes in a negative or embarrassing light while still getting the story across. Meanings and interpretations can be made any way the reader would like. That is up to you.
