Book The Mirror of 1937 Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Mirror of 1937 Classic Reprint written by Baltimore College Of Dental Surgery and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-09-15 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Mirror of 1937 The first lectures on dentistry in America were delivered by Dr. Horace H. Hayden in the University -oi Maryland, School of Medicine, between the years 1821 and 1825. These lectures were interrupted in 1825 by internal dissension in the School of Medicine. It was Dr. Hayden's idea that dentistry merited greater attention than was given it by the medical instruction. With the support of Dr. Chapin A. Harris, he appealed to the Faculty of Physics of the University of Maryland to create a dental department. This request having been refused, they decided upon an independent college. A charter was applied for and granted by the Maryland Legislature, February 1, 1840. The first faculty meeting was held February 3, 1840, at which time Dr. H. H. Hayden was elected President and Dr. C. A. Harris, Dean. The introductory lecture was delivered by Dr. Harris on November 3, 1840, to.the five students composing the first class. Thus was established the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, the first dental school in the world. In 1873 the Maryland Dental College, an offspring of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, was organized and continued instruction until 1879, at which time it was consolidated with the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. A department of dentistry was organized at the University of Maryland in the year 1882, graduating a class each. Year from 1883 to 1923. This school was chartered as a corporation and continued as a privately owned institution until 1920, when it became a state institution The Dental Department of the Balti more Medical College was established in 1895 and continued until 1913, when it merged with the Dental Department of the University of Maryland. The final combining of the dental educational interests of Baltimore was effected June 15, 1923, by the amalgamation of the student bodies of the Balti more College of Dental Surgery and the University of Maryland, School. Of Dentistry. Thus we find in the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Dental School, University of Maryland, a merging of the various efforts at dental education in Maryland. Book Mirror of the Body

Download or read book Mirror of the Body written by James E Rota and published by ABCHS Press. This book was released on 2015-10-18 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. James Rota is a pioneer in holistic dentistry. After 50 years in dentistry, he is sharing his uncommon story about biological dentistry, the dangers of mercury fillings, and what you can do to save yourself and to stop the madness of mercury in dentistry. Dr. Rota answers questions that the American Dental Association may not want you to ask: 1. Why don't dentists know or speak about mercury in the dental filling? 2. How are teeth connected to the rest of the body? 3. What is the scientific basis for the position of both the ADA and anti-mercury filling groups? 4. How are "silver" dental fillings related to chronic diseases? Mercury - a highly toxic element - has played a central theme in Dr. Rota's life, from his childhood and throughout his dental career. "Silver" fillings contain 50 percent mercury. It made him sick, causing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, burnout, depression and Epstein-Barr Syndrome, among other diseases. As one of many people hoping to ban the use of mercury in dentistry, Dr. Rota stands by the importance of safe mercury removal protocols. Mirror of the Body chronicles his life, delving deep into the Amalgam Wars and scientific evidence, offering dentists, health professionals, and consumers an expert and revelatory view on the toxins in dentistry and their effect on the rest of the body.
