This book was released on 1992 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper provides new data on the succession of acritarch assemblages, and some information on that of chitinozoans, in warm, mainly shallow, water, marine carbonate deposits of the Canadian cratonic realm. The work is based on the well-exposed, almost continuous, unfaulted section at Wilcox Pass, located about 2.5 km north of the Athabasca Glacier, between Banff and Jasper, in the southern Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Download or read book A Revised Correlation of the Cambrian Rocks in the British Isles written by A. W. A. Rushton and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2011 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work reviews the correlation of the British and Irish Cambrian with the current (though incomplete) international standard for the Cambrian. Since the earlier edition of 1972, the basal and upper limits of the Cambrian system have been internationally agreed; so this account excludes Tremadocian rocks but includes some that were formerly considered Neoproterozoic. Half of the series and stage subdivisions are internationally agreed, but for the undefined divisions of the Cambrian the standard used here makes use of data from Avalonian successions. Since the first edition was published, almost every aspect of the Cambrian in the British Isles has been subjected to new study. Here, the plate tectonic make-up of the British Isles is reviewed, new radiometric ages and isotopic studies are summarized and the biostratigraphy is enhanced by the study of acritarchs, especially in the Irish successions.
Download or read book The Ecology of the Cambrian Radiation written by Robert Riding and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Cambrian radiation was the explosive evolution of marine life that started 550,000,000 years ago. It ranks as one of the most important episodes in Earth history. This key event in the history of life on our planet changed the marine biosphere and its sedimentary environment forever, requiring a complex interplay of wide-ranging biologic and nonbiologic processes. The Ecology of the Cambrian Radiation offers a comprehensive and surprising picture of the Earth at that ancient time. The book contains contributions from thirty-three authors hailing from ten countries and will be of interest to paleontologists, geologists, biologists, and other researchers interested in the global Earth-life system.

Download or read book Middle Proterozoic to Cambrian rifting central North America written by Richard W. Ojakangas and published by Geological Society of America. This book was released on 1997-01-01 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on the Tenth International Basement Tectonics Conference held at the University of Minnesota-Duluth in August 1992, this volume contains 19 papers, 13 of which focus on the Middle Proterozoic Midcontinent Rift. An introductory essay discussing the Middle Proterozoic to Cambrian rifting in central North America is followed by contributions addressing topics including the Midcontinent Rift in Michigan and Minnesota, the Port Coldwell veins of northern Ontario, and petrography and sedimentation in the western Lake Superior region. The last five papers deal with the pre-Mount Simon basins of Ohio, the English Graben and the newly proposed East Continent Rift Complex, the Reelfoot Rift/Rough Creek Graben in the evolution of the Illinois Basin, and the A-type sheet granites in the Oklahoma Aulacogen of Cambrian age.
