Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout the centuries stained-glass windows have been a symbol of Christianity and their message has been to communicate the Gospel with illustrations from the Bible. If stained-glass windows could speak, what would they say? This book shares their profound message of the Gospel.Stained Glass Windows is an inspirational book that presents the Gospel in glass. To the Christian...it will renew and revive faith in Christ. To the new believer...it will disciple, guide, and strengthen faith. To the unbeliever...it will introduce fundamental Christian truths. The ultimate mission of this evangelical book is to share the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to bring glory to God by making an eternal difference in the lives to all who read it.Using a metaphoric style the author presents the Gospel in a most unusual way. Christians are compared to stained-glass windows. Just as light passes through a stained-glass window, causing the jewel-like colors to radiate and sparkle, the Holy Spirit reflects the life of God within a believer. This book will take you on a journey through the Bible as each stained-glass portrait is explored.Every page of Stained Glass Windows emphasizes the authority of the Holy Bible and the revelation of the Holy Spirit. This book can be used in Bible studies. It is also an excellent evangelistic tool and a Gospel handbook.Krista Capozzoli resides in southwestern Pennsylvania with her twin sister, niece, and two beloved cats. She has a background in Christian Ministry and Theology, and her goal is to communicate God's Word effectively by sharing her unique biblical insights. Her mission as a teacher of God's Word is to teach the Bible with an innovative approach. Her writing style is profound, inspirational, and thematic. Krista reaches out to teens, young adults, and adults with her "writing ministry."

Book The Stained Glass Window

Download or read book The Stained Glass Window written by Molly Malvern Painter and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2011 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Give me a pill and I'll feel better. Give me a drink so I'll forget. Give me a cig. It'll help my nerves. Ugh! I can hardly take a breath. Let me have sex, I need someone to love me. As a matter of fact, I can't get enough. What is your name? Oh, yes. I remember! Could you pass me my pills so I'll forget... And don't forget a drink to wash them down! —Excerpt from the play Get Nailed At thirty-nine years old, I raised my hand to heaven and said, 'If You are really real, You are going to have to help me because I don't want to live like this anymore, and I will be damned to hell if my daughter's life is going to end up like mine.' and then sealing my fate I added, 'Give me a hunger and thirst for your Word that I cannot satiate with anything else but You.' After years of walking through life alone, I suddenly found a real Savior. I poured myself into my relationship with him, and my life began to turn around. I discovered a world, within this world, and all I had to do was enter through the cross in the Stained Glass Window. I was the lost sheep he left the ninety-nine for. The Stained Glass Window recounts the details of my life before and after I came to know Christ. See how important you are to God regardless of any poor choices you've made. Realize that you are the one in the stained glass window.

Book excerpt: In the late 20th century, the Anderson University School of Theology faculty designed the content of the stained glass window as an aid for public and private worship. Prayerful thought was given to each word and symbol. In the early 21st century, the School of Theology faculty, through the ministry of proclamation, has attempted to interpret the message of the stained glass for a new generation. Each written sermon in this publication was presented in a live worshiping community. These were not theological papers but biblical sermons prepared as a part of worship. As the stained glass window continues to inspire our hearts, we trust this sermon series may inform our minds as we seek to keep our eyes on Jesus, the “author and perfecter of our faith.â€

Book Biblical Stained Glass Windows Coloring Book

Download or read book Biblical Stained Glass Windows Coloring Book written by John Clay McHugh and published by . This book was released on 2014-02 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did you know that Moses is depicted with horns in our stained glass windows? Did you know that we have a grasshopper in our sanctuary? How about a Phoenix or why a Phoenix is often associated with the life of Jesus? Did you know that Judas is depicted and that he has no halo? Have you ever noticed the rainbow or that one side of the windows is more complex and darker than the other? Why is the Temple shown in phases and represented in three separate icons? Did you know that one of the most respected stained glass studios in the world designed and manufactured our windows? They left their mark in one of our windows; do you know where? Did you know that the windows were placed into their location over time as donors were secured to pay for them? Have you ever noticed that the stained glass windows are surrounded by clear glass and thus allow for light to come into the sanctuary with beautiful tones and at the same time allowing one to see outside? The content of the windows, arranging for donors to pay for them and coordinating the stain glass studio's iconography with the architectural design of the construction company was all under the watchful eye of the then Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Reverend Jim Thompson. Reverend Thompson was truly the right man at the right time for our church. This book is intended to be both illuminating and instructional to the young and the old alike. For the adult each of the figures in the windows has been isolated by digital photography, their position delineated, and accompanied by a verse representative of their biblical significance. One can quickly see how the broad range of subject matter represented in our windows could serve as a summer long Bible study. In regards to children each figure has been rendered as an easily recognizable cartoon that can be colored and thereby encourage an understanding of the Old and New Testament and also our sanctuary's windows. One can envision a youth Sunday school class sitting in the sanctuary coloring the various figures being bathed by the light coming through the stained glass as they use it for a template. Finally it is hoped that this book will foster a better knowledge, understanding and appreciation of our windows and in turn further enhance the worship experience; a goal that Reverend Thompson so passionately and diligently strove to achieve. John McHugh

Book Windows a Book About Stained Painted Glass

Download or read book Windows a Book About Stained Painted Glass written by Lewis Foreman Day and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-27 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Windows a Book About Stained Painted Glass A stained glass window is itself the best possible illustration of the difference it makes whether we look at a thing from this side or from that. Gœthe used this particular image in one of his little parables, comparing poems to painted windows, dark and dull from the market-place, bright with colour and alive with meaning only when we have crossed the threshold of the church. I may claim to have entered the sanctuary, and not irreverently. My earliest training in design was in the workshops of artists in stained glass. For many years I worked exclusively at glass design, and for over a quarter of a century I have spent great part of my leisure in hunting glass all Europe over. This book has grown out of my experience. It makes no claim to learnedness. It tells only what the windows have told me, or what I understood them to say. I have gone to glass to get pleasure out of it, to learn something from it, to find out the way it was done, and why it was done so, and what might yet perhaps be done. Anything apart from that did not so much interest me. Those, therefore, who desire minuter and more precise historic information must consult the works of Winston, Mr. Westlake, and the many continental authorities, with whose learned writings this more practical, and, in a sense, popular, volume does not enter into any sort of competition. My point of view is that of art and workmanship, or, more precisely speaking, workmanship and art, workmanship being naturally the beginning and root of art. We are workmen first and artists afterwards - perhaps. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
