Book The Message of the Son of Man

Download or read book The Message of the Son of Man written by Edwin A. Abbott and published by Christian Classics Reproductions. This book was released on 2023-12-23 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present treatise invites the general reader to take a brief and comprehensive view of the results of a long and detailed investigation into the meaning of Christ's self-appellation, in which the investigator starts from the hypothesis that Jesus was more likely to be influenced by the jewish scriptures than by the Jewish apocrypha. The latter should certainly be called in to our aid, but, in the author's judgment, not until the former have been fully utilized. IF we had to select from the gospels two or three phrases that seemed fittest to give a clue to the meaning of Christ’s deepest doctrine, “the Son of Man” would seem to claim a place in the selection. It is applied to Christ in all the four gospels, and that frequently, and near the end, as well as near the beginning, of His career. It never proceeds from a friend, never from an enemy, never from an evangelist or neutral relator, but practically always from our Lord Himself. This self-appellation is connected, sometimes with a claim to authority; sometimes with a recognition that the Claimant has been rejected; sometimes with predictions that He is destined to suffer and to die and to be raised up; sometimes with descriptions of a future Coming in glory. If we could understand why He chose this unvarying title to describe Himself amid such various circumstances, we might gain more insight into His conception of the nature of His mission.

Book A Message for the Soul of Man

Download or read book A Message for the Soul of Man written by John D. Powers and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2010-07 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most unanswered questions in the world today is why. Why did God create this universe and everything in it? Why did God create the angels and every soul? Why does God want each soul to join him in heaven? In A Message for the Soul of Man, author John D. Powers answers these and other questions relating to our souls, our creation, and our life's purpose. After receiving a message from God many years ago, Powers researched Bible scripture to validate this important communication. Now, Powers shares the full message he received and the implications it carries for the souls of mankind: God wants a personal relationship with us, and he wants every soul to be saved. Through thought-provoking discussion and testimony, A Message for the Soul of Man refreshes our knowledge about God, ourselves, and the world; it helps assess where we are in relation to the world and its development. Powers describes how we are called to examine ourselves, learn about our soul, and discover our purpose in life. We have the power and the choice to determine what will happen to our immortal soul after death. This title received a Finalist Award in the 2011 International Book Awards.
