Book Graph Theory and Decomposition

Download or read book Graph Theory and Decomposition written by Jomon Kottarathil and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-04-10 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book Graph Theory and Decomposition covers major areas of the decomposition of graphs. It is a three-part reference book with nine chapters that is aimed at enthusiasts as well as research scholars. It comprehends historical evolution and basic terminologies, and it deliberates on decompositions into cyclic graphs, such as cycle, digraph, and K4-e decompositions. In addition to determining the pendant number of graphs, it has a discourse on decomposing a graph into acyclic graphs like general tree, path, and star decompositions. It summarises another recently developed decomposition technique, which decomposes the given graph into multiple types of subgraphs. Major conjectures on graph decompositions are elaborately discussed. It alludes to a comprehensive bibliography that includes over 500 monographs and journal articles. It includes more than 500 theorems, around 100 definitions, 56 conjectures, 40 open problems, and an algorithm. The index section facilitates easy access to definitions, major conjectures, and named theorems. Thus, the book Graph Theory and Decomposition will be a great asset, we hope, in the field of decompositions of graphs and will serve as a reference book for all who are passionate about graph theory.

Book Topics in Structural Graph Theory

Download or read book Topics in Structural Graph Theory written by Lowell W. Beineke and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2012-11-08 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapidly expanding area of structural graph theory uses ideas of connectivity to explore various aspects of graph theory and vice versa. It has links with other areas of mathematics, such as design theory and is increasingly used in such areas as computer networks where connectivity algorithms are an important feature. Although other books cover parts of this material, none has a similarly wide scope. Ortrud R. Oellermann (Winnipeg), internationally recognised for her substantial contributions to structural graph theory, acted as academic consultant for this volume, helping shape its coverage of key topics. The result is a collection of thirteen expository chapters, each written by acknowledged experts. These contributions have been carefully edited to enhance readability and to standardise the chapter structure, terminology and notation throughout. An introductory chapter details the background material in graph theory and network flows and each chapter concludes with an extensive list of references.

Book Applied Graph Theory

Download or read book Applied Graph Theory written by Wai-Kai Chen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-11-28 with total page 559 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applied Graph Theory: Graphs and Electrical Networks, Second Revised Edition provides a concise discussion of the fundamentals of graph and its application to the electrical network theory. The book emphasizes the mathematical precision of the concepts and principles involved. The text first covers the basic theory of graph, and then proceeds to tackling in the next three chapters the various applications of graph to electrical network theory. These chapters also discuss the foundations of electrical network theory; directed-graph solutions of linear algebraic equations; and topological analysis of linear systems. Next, the book covers trees and their generation. Chapter 6 deals with the realizability of directed graphs with prescribed degrees, while Chapter 7 talks about state equations of networks. The book will be of great use to researchers of network topology, linear systems, and circuitries.

Book Topics in Combinatorics and Graph Theory

Download or read book Topics in Combinatorics and Graph Theory written by Rainer Bodendiek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 769 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Graph Theory is a part of discrete mathematics characterized by the fact of an extremely rapid development during the last 10 years. The number of graph theoretical paper as well as the number of graph theorists increase very strongly. The main purpose of this book is to show the reader the variety of graph theoretical methods and the relation to combinatorics and to give him a survey on a lot of new results, special methods, and interesting informations. This book, which grew out of contributions given by about 130 authors in honour to the 70th birthday of Gerhard Ringel, one of the pioneers in graph theory, is meant to serve as a source of open problems, reference and guide to the extensive literature and as stimulant to further research on graph theory and combinatorics.

Book The Julius Petersen Graph Theory Centennial

Download or read book The Julius Petersen Graph Theory Centennial written by L.D. Andersen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Julius Petersen's paper, Die Theorie der regulären graphs in Acta Mathematica, volume 15 (1891), stands at the beginning of graph theory as we know it today. The Danish group of graph theorists decided in 1985 to mark the 150th birthday of Petersen in 1989, as well as the centennial of his paper. It was felt that the occasion called for a presentation of Petersen's famous paper in its historical context and, in a wider sense, of Petersen's life and work as a whole. However, the readily available information about Julius Petersen amounted to very little (not even a full bibliography existed) and virtually nothing was known about the circumstances that led him to write his famous paper. The study of Petersen's life and work has resulted in several papers, in particular a biography, a bibliography, an annotated edition of the letters surrounding Petersen's paper of 1891, an analysis of Petersen's paper and an annotated edition of parts of Petersen's correspondence with Sylow on Galois theory. The first four of these papers, together with a survey of matching theory, form the first part of this book. In addition to these five special papers, there are papers submitted in the celebration of the Petersen centennial.
