Book The Man Who Found Himself Uncle Simon

Download or read book The Man Who Found Himself Uncle Simon written by Margaret Robson Stacpoole and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2022-06-03 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Man Who Found Himself is a humorous story of a sober, renowned magistrate, Simon Pettigrews. The author makes the readers laugh with several comical events of Simon's recurring episodes of "youthful folly." The fact that he is left with no memory of these foolish episodes makes this story even more hilarious and adds to the excitement. The authors of the work, Margaret Robson Stacpoole, and H. De Vere Stacpoole, have described the events with remarkable vividness. The readers can visualize them happening in front of them. It's a delightful read with amusing characters portrayed beautifully. The unique story of a reputed older man acting cluelessly like a child will absorb readers.

Book A Trial in Burma

Download or read book A Trial in Burma written by Maung Maung and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crime does not pay, and politics by assassination pays even less. That is perhaps the one sharp lesson which stands out from the trial of U Saw and his men for the murder of Bogyoke Aung San and his colleagues. The trial is a historie one, and the murders undoubtedly altered the course of Burma' s modem history. I present the judgement of the Special Tribunal in full and the story of the assassinations for the record, in the hope that they will serve historians and our peoples in Burma in several ways. Mr. ]ustice Mya Thein of the High Court gave me the records which he compiled of the trial while serving on the prosecution. That was a few years ago, and I have, since then, wanted to edit and publish a book of the trial. Dr. Myint Thein, Chief ]ustice of the Union, also gave his file of the records to the Defence Services Historical Research Institute, and I was able to check and compare the papers. To both I owe and sincerely acknow ledge thanks. I am also grateful to Mr. ]ustice Aung Tha Gyaw of the Supreme Court who answered my questions with kindness and courtesy, and to U Kyaw Soe, Director of Information, and his staff, who dug up the pictures which are published in this book.

Book The Adventures of Ralph Rashleigh

Download or read book The Adventures of Ralph Rashleigh written by James Tucker and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2022-11-22 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Adventures of Ralph Rashleigh" is a valuable record of an exciting aspect of colonization. It also records the system of penal transportation which had been in operation at the time the protagonist was sent to Australia to work. This book records the life of a criminal who was convicted at the London Sessions for the crime of burglary. Ralph Rashleigh, had the advantage of a decent upbringing, but, out of weakness of character, adopted what seemed the easier life of crime at an early age. The book recounts his life, crimes, and imprisonment.
