Book Magnetic Properties Of Matter Proceedings Of The National School New Developments And Magnetism s Applications

Download or read book Magnetic Properties Of Matter Proceedings Of The National School New Developments And Magnetism s Applications written by L Lanotte and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996-08-22 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the special properties of low-dimensional magnetic systems i.e., film, multilayers, fine particles, nanostructured materials, and reflecting the recent researches. It is divided into four parts: (i) contains a phenomenological description of the fundamentals of magnetism; (ii) covers preparation and properties of films and multilayers, with special emphasis on Giant Magnetoresistance; (iii) focuses on fine particles and nanostructured systems; and (iv) dedicated to innovative magnetic materials for the next generation.

Book Magnetic Properties of Fine Particles

Download or read book Magnetic Properties of Fine Particles written by J.L. Dormann and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this volume is to advance the understanding of the fundamental properties of fine magnetic particles and to discuss the latest developments from both the theoretical and experimental viewpoints, with special emphasis being placed on the applications in different branches of science and technology. All aspects of fine magnetic particles are covered in the 46 papers. The topics are remarkably interdisciplinary covering theory, materials preparation, structural characterization, optical and electrical properties, magnetic properties studied by different techniques and applications. Some new fundamental properties, such as quantum tunneling and transverse fluctuations of magnetic moments are also explored. Research workers involved in these aspects of materials technology will find this book of great interest.

Download or read book Magnetism written by Etienne Du Trémolet de Lacheisserie and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetic materials are all around us, and understanding their properties underlies much of today's engineering efforts. The range of applications in which they are centrally involved includes audio, video and computer technology, tele-communications, automotive sensors, electric motors at all scales, medical imaging, energy supply and transportation, as well as the design of stealthy airplanes. This book deals with the basic phenomena that govern the magnetic properties of matter, with magnetic materials and with the applications of magnetism in science, technology and medicine. Although an in-depth understanding of magnetism requires a quantum mechanical approach, a phenomenological description of the mechanisms involved has been deliberately chosen in most chapters in order for the book to be useful to a wide readership. The emphasis is placed, in the part devoted to the atomic aspects of magnetism, on explaining, rather than attempting to calculate, the mechanisms underlying the exchange interaction and magnetocrystalline anisotropy, which lead to magnetic order, hence to useful materials. This theoretical part is placed, in Volume I, between a phenomenological part, introducing magnetic effects at the atomic, mesoscopic and macroscopic levels, and a presentation of magneto-caloric, magneto-elastic, magneto-optical and magneto-transport coupling effects.
