Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God of Love is Mirabai Starr’s passionate and personal exploration of the interconnected wisdom of the three Abrahamic faiths. She shares an overview of essential teachings, stories of saints and spiritual masters, prophetic calls for peace and justice, and for the first time in print, deeply engaging narratives from her own spiritual experiences. She guides readers to recognize the teachings and practices that unify rather then divide the three religions, and sheds light on the interspiritual perspective, which celebrates the Divine in all paths. It is Mirabai’s hope that this book will serve as a reminder that a dedication to lovingkindness is the highest expression of faith for all three religions. EARLY REVIEWS FOR God of Love “Mirabai Starr takes us out dancing with the One. God of Love is a confluence of the currents of Judaism, Islam and Christianity all emptying into the great ocean of Love.” —Ram Dass, Author Be Here Now “In a time of division between people, this book — which is a masterful blend of research, storytelling, poetry, and memoir — is like a sacred magnet, pulling on the spiritual heart of all seekers.” —Elizabeth Lesser, Cofounder, Omega Institute; Author, Broken Open: How Difficult Times Can Help Us Grow “Mirabai Starr writes of the divine from a luminous gene inherited by only a few. We hear The True Song in each word she attributes to the holy. It is more than just her song; it is the Melody of the Spheres translated by an astute musician. We are always touched by the genuine in her call to the reader to love and love well, to see with the sacred eye of beauty.” -Ondrea & Stephen Levine, Authors Embracing the Beloved "Mirabai's book has brought me great consolation." -Daniel Berrigan, S. J. activist-priest; Author, No Gods but One “This book brilliantly reminds us that in the heart of the Abrahamic traditions there burns a singular divine flame.” -Rev. Robert V. Thompson, Author A Voluptuous God “A wonderful and ‘perfect’ book. Highly recommended.” -Rabbi David A. Cooper, Author God Is a Verb “[God of Love] will expand your vision and inspire your search; I recommend it with great joy.” -Andrew Harvey, Author The Hope: A Guide to Sacred Activism “At home in the three great Abrahamic traditions, Mirabai Starr takes us on a deeply personal journey 'Toward the One,' exploring aspects of the 'God of Love' as seen through the eyes of Jewish, Christian and Muslim mystics. This is a book which will delight the seeker of sacred connections between these traditions and those who look forward to a day when Jerusalem, the city shared by all these faiths, will be a house of prayer for all people." -Reb Netanel Miles-Yepez, Co-Author A Heart Afire: Stories and Teachings of the Early Hasidic Masters

Download or read book The Ashram written by Eric L. Bullard and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-09-10 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the summer of 1989 Eric Bullard took a month off from his job as Vice-President in charge of sales and marketing for the family publishing company and returned to the Hindu ashram where he had lived and studied for three years. It was supposed to be a vacation, a sort of rest before the heavy Christmas season's workload. But what he found there and the resulting years of uncertainty, mystery, and finally great magic will leave readers on the edge of their seats, questioning their own perceptions of reality. Sometimes shocking, sometimes humorous, always on the edge, "The Ashram" is a true story and unforgettable adventure: the unfolding of one man's unconscious mind and his travels through the wilds of Central America as he comes to grips with what he has found. Synopsis: Destined to leave readers on the edge of their seats, questioning their own perceptions of reality, "The Ashram" is one of the most unique, original, true, spiritual adventure stories of all time. Beginning in 1983, the story chronicles Eric Bullard's personal search which begins at the end of a six month odyssey through the South Pacific when he begins to question all that he has seen and lived in life up to that point. Now, desperate and preparing to return to the exact same world that he left six months earlier, he retreats up to the remote summit of Mount Solitaire in the Blue Mountains of Australia for a final week of fasting and contemplation in the hope that the answers he so desperately needs will come. Once there he reads a book on meditation, becomes fascinated with the subject, learns to meditate, and achieves great results. Two yeas later he enters into a Hindu ashram where he spends he majority of he next seven years studying deep meditation techniques. The real heart of the story begins to unfold in 1989 when, after four years in the ashram, he participates in a thirty day intensive meditation course during which he experiences a set of deep spiritual experiences that irrevocably change his life forever. Totally unprepared for what he has seen and experienced on the course, he spends the next three years in the ashram trying to come to grips with what he has found and now knows lies deep within each and every other human being. This main story line is further expanded and articulated upon by the second story line of the book which occurs nine years later as Eric, after drinking his way through Mexico and Guatemala for four years, decides to hike across the remote, war-torn Cuchamatane Mountains of Guatemala with a couple of hiking companions that he has just met. Not sure what they might find, if it is safe, or even the way, they end up becoming lost in the perilous mountains then helped by the humble yet courageous Highland Mayan Indians that they meet along the way. Arriving to the other side of the mountain range the trio enters into a mysterious, ancient Mayan kingdom known as the Ixil Triangle where they are confronted by the incredible devastation left over by the recently ended Guatemalan Civil War. Venturing deeper into the Triangle and the tragedy that lies within, Eric is finally forced to confront the personal demons, fears and doubts that have been plaguing him since the course of nine years earlier and discover something far greater then he could have ever imagined.

Book Miracle of Love Stories about Neem Karoli Baba

Download or read book Miracle of Love Stories about Neem Karoli Baba written by Ram Dass and published by Neem Karoli Baba Ashram. This book was released on with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: T he material in this volume is culled from over two thousand stories about Maharajji gathered during five years from more than one hundred devotees. To these devotees who shared their treasured memo ries, I wish to express my deep love and appreciation. Some of them felt that no book could or should be written about a being with qualities as vast, formless, and subtle as Maharajji’s, and yet they contributed their stories nevertheless. I honor them for this kindness and I hope that in my zeal to share experiences of Maharajji with others who were not fortu nate enough to have met him, I have not misused their trust. Some devotees tell me that stories told by other devotees are not fac tually accurate. I have no way of ascertaining the authenticity of any single story. All I can report is that those o f us who gathered the stories were impressed by the credibility of those of us who told the stories. Though the responsibility for this manuscript lies solely with me, I am delighted to acknowledge a lot o f loving help from my friends:

Book excerpt: We long for boundless love as we long for home. But how can we find our home our meaning and purpose if we don't know our self? Wise-Love is an exploration of the self, or consciousness, guided through the meditative eyes of saints, sages, seers, and mystics. We discover that the self's most charming characteristic -- part of its unchanging nature is that it is a lover, a lover only when ordinary love evolves into wise-love. Pranada, a devoted pilgrim and teacher, illuminates bhakti's wisdom school of heartfulness and shows why mindfulness can never satisfy the self. Joy comes from an awakened heart not a stilled mind. The first part of Wise-Love explores the nature of self/consciousness and how we interface in the world with our physical and subtle body (mind, intelligence, and ego). Understanding the distinctions between our real and false selves, we can answer the questions Who am I? What is my purpose? How can I be happy? The second half examines the nature of matter, the world of consciousness, karma, faith, mysticism, the efficacy of sacred sound, the maha-mantra, kirtan, humility, depth compassion, and how to culture wise-love. Each chapter unfolds with an understanding of matter and consciousness to present a key that unlocks our eternal nature so that we can experience the unbounded joy of the self in our daily lives. When we encounter the self, we're automatically introduced to our Divine Inner Suitor and our loving relationship. Filled with insight and fresh perspectives, Wise-Love offers a map for the journey to our home of eternal affection, where a porch light is always lovingly lit, and a warm embrace from our Divine Other awaits.Secretly nestled in the Upanishads and extolled in the Bhagavad Gita, bhakti yoga shines as the crown jewel on the head of India's timeless wisdom about consciousness and how to live one's meditation. Often over-simplified as devotion, bhakti is the method of experiencing the self and its Essence/Source. This concise, comprehensive handbook exploring the meaning of bhakti's sophisticated philosophy promises to enrich you wherever you are on the spiritual path.
